I would love it if they set Talisman in the same world as HeroQuest. Much like FFG does where all of their fantasy games were set in the same world as Descent.
I'm going to do a labor of love and make my own version of talisman, with dark eldritch, medieval aesthetic, just need some good art, minis, and revisions of all the spaces and pieces to add a dark humor to it, almost taking some ideas from quest for shangri-la. It's going to take a while but it's on my bucket list.
Awesome news! Many years ago I played an older edition. My DM was to tired or sick so we played talisman instead. A few years later I bought the Fantasy Flight 4 revised which started this board game obsession I found myself in. Pegasus Spiele is a god send because over the past couple of years I was able to buy the expansions that i wanted. Very exciting news! I hope the mini are compatible with HQ. Thanks Ash! Great news for a difficult day.
I’m glad I have everything for the 3rd edition of Talisman. That’s the edition I owned and played growing up. I’m very interested in seeing what Avalon Hill do with Talisman if this is true. They’ve done a great job with Heroquest.
Loved 3rd Edition, also have the all of the 4th Edition. I also worked up a dragon tower scaled and adapted to the 4th edition because I was not a fan of the 4th Ed. Dragon Expqnsion. And yes I believe it will HQ.
What a cool video and thanks so much for the shout out Ash! I can totally see me snagging HeroQuest to add lots of new homebrews to the game when it eventually comes out! /Jon @Talisman Island
I have Talisman 2nd, 3rd, and 4th editions with all expansions except the 2nd edition dragon expansion. 3rd is my favorite because it plays faster, has a better leveling system, and I love the dragon tower. I don't think we need a 5th edition, but I'll buy it if it isn't too similar to 4th.
This would be excellent. I have everything from the 4th edition and a few things from other editions. If they design a 5th edition around the world of HeroQuest, I'd buy lots of it.
Would fifth edition be compatible with 4th edition expansions? I am consedering to buy a chunk of em considering the price now but I am afraid in case that would not be the case since I do not have the core game and it is out of print now?
5th edition has been confirmed by Avalon Hill today. They mention more streamlined and accessible gameplay and new artwork. I'm sure it won't be compatible with 4th edition.
Talisman has become the modern day Monopoly - slap what ever theme or computer game or film is popular and behold a new Talisman 😂. Although I love this game. Still have the 90s Games Workshop Edition (3rd) and the last version of the game from FF.
I guess that this news, albeit interesting, is not totally unexpected. I did get 4th edition, as the board artwork looked like an interesting update from the 1st edition board I was currently using. Talisman is a great game, but I suspect that I would be unlikely to go for the 5th.
I don't have a lot of familiarity with Talisman, how recent was the previous edition? Is it likely this is going straight to retail, or do you think they'll crowdfund it first?
Just want to correct an omission in your video: 4E Talisman was initially released by Black Industries, a subsidiary of GW. That edition was on the market for less than a year before GW bizarrely sold the license off to Fantasy Flight games. FFG made several design changes, most notably smaller cards and plastic minis. The Black Industries edition has cardboard standees for the characters, which did kinda suck.
What I'd hope for is that they give it its own identity. The art for 3rd edition drips with identity, and the character were are really interesting and unique. I was excited with 4th edition came out, but quickly moved on. I'm sure what FFG added was great, but it just looks like generic fantasy with generic fantasy art. If AH did something really striking and didn't just make D&D Monopoly (I joked for years that Talisman was Warhammer Monopoly), they could have something really interesting.
Would be great to see this game again, but there are way more ties toward the GW licensed universe with one than there is with GW and Hero Quest... Unless some massive changes I'm not seeing this happen.
The UPCs existence are a very strong indication that the red tape is done. I think it's a matter of time before we see announcements. But, stranger things have happened.
Yeah. Talisman definitely has that "play until someone wins so you can stop playing" feel. But tons of fun, whereas Monopoly if just depressing and predatory.
More Talisman is always a treat. Id welcome it if true.
I would love it if they set Talisman in the same world as HeroQuest. Much like FFG does where all of their fantasy games were set in the same world as Descent.
I love the dog in the office. Endless treats for that dog.

you can 3d print that dragon and it looks identical and once painted its just chefs kiss
Ok. I will find this dragon. And I WILL paint it. It is a beautiful sculpt!
When I see this dragon I think of Prince Imric - spit spit 😂 mind you I did like Engrimm Von Horstmann two headed version

yeah thats always been my favorite dragon!

Which edition is the one from gw’s black library?
Third edition is the one that uses awesome Citadel miniatures!
That's the original 4th Edition, the FFG/Pegasus edition is Revised 4th Edition.
I'd like to see Avalon Hill tackle Battle Masters next, there was a lot of heroquest/battle masters miniature crossover there.
Loved 3rd Edition, also have the all of the 4th Edition.

Ooh... turns out I have another YT account! (Old age creeping in...)
Wow, thanks for dropping in and checking it out! :] love Talisman Island -- it's how I discovered the GW Toybox line, which has brought me great joy!
I just have base 2nd edition, and I'll break it out once in a while. I may check out a new edition from Avalon Hill.
This would be excellent. I have everything from the 4th edition and a few things from other editions. If they design a 5th edition around the world of HeroQuest, I'd buy lots of it.
compatibility would drive more sales on already released games too

@@willieloomis5958 Thanks
I have 2nd,3rd and 4th.Not every expansion.but the 4th ed expansions were too big and took a long time to travel through.3rd ed nice and short.

I'm up for a new edition reprint...hoping that first expansion is the tower- take it vertical!
I don't have a lot of familiarity with Talisman, how recent was the previous edition? Is it likely this is going straight to retail, or do you think they'll crowdfund it first?
With a UPC, I think straight to retail. I don't think it'd have one if crowdfunded first.
I just hope they enlarge the text on everything.

Great news! Never cared for the 4th edition art, and it will be a little bummer that GW’s IP will not be involved.
Space crusade can be next
Btw, I'd assume that it's in Canadian dollars as that's where KIDToy are based.

Thus just shows how big an audience Games Workshop is missing out on by not re-releasing it's old games.
I'd love a re-release. It's still theirs of course and they'll see money from it -- but nothing beats the GW aesthetic.
@@AshQuest Very true, but unfortunately they are a different type of company these days.
i want dungeon quest!!!!
ok now space crusade in like 1 and a million chance
Yeah it's maybe not zero! 😆
I put Talisman on a par with Monopoly.
That's not a positive endorsement, by the way! What a tedious game.
Some of the artwork is nice though.
Yeah. Talisman definitely has that "play until someone wins so you can stop playing" feel. But tons of fun, whereas Monopoly if just depressing and predatory.
