I’ve got a 2012 extended cab Z71 4WD with the 5.3L and factory 4.10 gears, it’s AWESOME. I’ve hopped mine up a bit, and it’s genuinely pretty fast and is an awesome camping rig. I also always got 1-3 mpg better on 93 or 94 octane even before the tune, I guess since mine’s flex fuel it actually did make a difference. Spectre XIII If it’s a 115+ out I have to idle it up to cool it off. It’s never overheated but the gauge starts climbing a little. I’ve though about adding a electric fan on the front of the radiator or just changing to electric fans all together.
@@philofab Mine will absolutely heat soak idling when it's over 115. The highest I let it get was 244, and while the truck didn't seem to mind, I was uneasy. Got the gauge up to 3/4 at that temp. Fan locked in, not enough engine speed at idle. I've been eyeballing supermodulation fan kit or pcmofnc fan kit.
I think next time I plug the HPTuner in I will increase the hot idle on my truck a little. I like the supermodulation fan but I don't really want any of his wiring. I should probably see if he will sell once separate if he's still around. If not I'll just stick to my plan of adding a auxiliary pusher fan to the front.
I use Diablo for my tuning and went up 150 rpm idle, getting a little more engine speed without it lurching you forward. James Supermod is still around. He's on facebook as well under the 355nation group. I'm going to check out the other kit, though.
Wayne Menard rebel rider RUclips Yes. I replaced the ignition switch, fixed all the grounds, and put a new battery in it to try and eliminate it. I ended up just turning vats off with HPtuners after it would still have issues every once in a while.

Nice hat. Thanks AMLO for taking it back from the usual suspects.
I have a factory 5.3 4x4 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS
I really wonder how this would compare with my V8 Dakota.
Were can I get one
I have a 09 same color crew cab.
Nice! I kinda wanted a crew cab version but don't real have a need for it.
@@philofab I would of much rather had a extended but couldn’t find one at the time
The 09 engine code is LH8
The 10-12 is LH9
I have a 2010 with 220k miles. Crew cab 4x4 z71. Since new
With 4.10 gears factory
Swap in a 8L45 transmission from 2nd generation Colorado...
Nice truck
Never know they came with a v8
Didn’t know they existed
Probably the one of the reasons they were not more popular!
Just wondering did these come with the active fuel management
Custom71monte Nope. Has variable cam adjustment but no DOD/AFM.
Another Arizona V8. Do you drive it in the valley heat? Common to idle hot with A/C at full bore. Love seeing more local.
Have you had pas lock security issues👍📽
Wayne Menard rebel rider RUclips Yes. I replaced the ignition switch, fixed all the grounds, and put a new battery in it to try and eliminate it. I ended up just turning vats off with HPtuners after it would still have issues every once in a while.
Yep
My job just had one come in. I need a reliable truck i can tow a car trailer with just a civic on it. Its a 2012 colarado 5.3 with 36k.
I have the exact the same truck just white and it’s not 4x4 which is weird cause it has the 5.3
Why didn't you start it atleast.
I’m trying so hard to find one of these with low mileage and in good condition
It took me almost a year to find this one. Funny thing is that a 2011 crew cab 4wd V8 Colorado got traded into the same dealership a week after I bought it. They are out there but most of the time they are not listed with the correct engine online. Always check the vin or look for the V8 fender emblem.
I love my 2012 GMC Canyon with the 5.3 I have 65,000miles
f550lover Nice! My truck just passed 80k.
I have one
2009 v8 2wd crew cab white 103k miles 2nd owner clean title no mods 15k obo in tx
Matt M I have 2 of them message me I’ll look for one for u miles that I’ve found 69 thousand and up
Shit i want one!!!
Did this truck come with the fuel active management thing?
rip jahseh Nope. No AFM/DOD.
That’s pretty cool but that’s probably why the gas mileage isn’t that impressive
rip jahseh I’ve had several vehicles with DOD and I got slightly better mileage after deleting it.
Dream truck lol too bad they’re hella expensive because of the rarity
I’ve got 2 of them one 4.10 one 373
There were only so many made they are rare trucks if you find one with a v8
just like LHT Performance
5.3? 16mpg? Sounds right to me lol
Lh8 - LH9 engine code same as H3
Yes, correct
H3 is on Colorado frame
4l60 are decent transmissions. Your caprice should have a 4l60.
Doug Delzer I’m not a fan of them, broken more of them than I can count. My Caprice has a 6L80E.
I have a 4l60 in my camaro LS1 waiting for that to go but its solid! My tahoe has 1 just keeps rollin! I hopefully will stay lucky!
The 60 sucks for power.. I would swap in a 80; cut the ears for clearance; and replace the trans controller and re-cut the driveshaft .
my dad has a tacoma and it averages 22 mpg
I wish I could buy your truck
They should have put the 6 speed auto in the Colorado instead of the 4 speed there I said it 😂
Do long tubes fit
chris Perez It’s pretty tight on a 4wd, maybe on a 2wd.
It fits. I have a set of Doug thorleys. Gatta do a little modification with the tail end but it works even though they said it wouldnt
Custom long tubes sure, but out of box kits, tri y Doug Thorley is the only option and they're mid length
My truck has the 3.7L
With the 4l60e transmission 4wd extended cab
Is that a T-Rex in your yard?!!
alejandro landeros Yep. Bought it in Rosarito.
@@philofab hah that’s great! Awesome truck! Wish mine was Standard AND V8, I got the inline 5. I inherited with the dreaded p0300 code haha runs great but always searching for the reason for the intermittent code. Haha
Toyota Tacoma's twice the price. Pretty easy to rebuilt the transmission in these, and the motors are everywhere lol. Or just spend the money now and not worry about it later. But yeah these are cool little trucks with a good V-8. The interiors though are God awful.
Wonder what rhe quarter times are
