  • After two years of testing, I finally did a review video for my camper. Don’t worry I didn’t get real in-depth it’s not every nut and bolt were talking about. Just the basic concept. If you want to stick around, at the end there’s a tutorial on how I put it together.

    Sorry for your lost 🙏
    I too lost my wife of 53 years in 2018.
    Stay busy. I'll be 99 in a couple days. Still drive and camp. From Los Angeles. Good day
    PS: believe me, you will see her again!

    Neat, my dad had a homebuilt plywood camper on a 49 ford f1. He had a passage directly from the cab into the camper. We traveled around the U.S. and Mexico in it when I was little.

    Coolest thing I’ve seen yet. Slide out camper. I love that idea. Made me write this it was such a cool idea. Lol. I seen it was small I said dam that’s small. Then he opens the tail gate and slides it out. That was cool as hell.
    Edited part. Ok in hide sight I can’t figure for the life of me how to insulate that slide out feature. I would need some draw slides and those are like 1/2 inch each side. It would ultimately make the inside more narrow. Also unless the box that slides out is inside then you wouldn’t be able to have anything permanent in it.
    Also if this is only for you, why the bunk bed? Your using up to much space for bedding. If you can sleep on top, bottom becomes desk or sofa facing wall with tv. Put a fridge in the corner next to the couch and throw a solar panel on top.

    I've been milling over the idea of building a camper shell or camp trailer. I've worked with fiberglass and epoxy a fair amount and like that you'll be using it on your next build. The slide-out was a nice surprise as I am 6'-5" and have had complex imaginings on how to build expanding spaces using pull outs, swing outs, slide outs, pop ups, and stacking. Fun stuff!
    If you use epoxy resin, cut rite wax paper is a must. J&J baby powder mixes with epoxy resin to make a good stitching/fairing compound (mix it to a peanut butter consistency). Use wax paper to work resin in tough spots by laying it and leaving it on the spot that needs attention, do what is needed through the wax paper, then let the epoxy set up before pulling off the wax paper. If adding more resin to the area where the wax paper was, wipe it with acetone and give a light sanding to clear any residue. Use cut-rite wax paper though. It's pretty cheap and the cheaper stuff is just frustrating.

    I'm sure glad that I found your video.... I've recently been wanting to build a slide in truck bed camper with the same design as yours... I've been browsing videos and have seen alot of different projects. But they all seem to drag on and on and go into crazy technical detail... I like the style and build of your camper. Simple, durable and to the point.... Love to see more.

    Well done, much respect! Have you thought of fastening some filing cabinet type roller glides to aid in pulling out your extension compartment? It would make for a nice smooth fluid pullout. I’m also curious to know what insulation and process you used to sandwich it between the inner/outer walls?
    Great video!

    • @Cypheroutside
      @Cypheroutside  4 года назад

      Thanks for the tip. as far as the insulation used. I used great stuff. It comes in a can under pressure. I drilled a small quarter inch hole in the center of the iner-wall between my studs and begin filling. Make sure you tape up the ends of the walls so the foam doesn’t escape as it expands. then at the end you can poke a hole in the tape and fill the edge of the wall better. As for the ceiling. I had originally planned on putting paneling on the ceiling, however I never did. So I ended up using a roll of the silver bubble wrap. I just stapled into place, then put the tapestry up over it. I did this because being a wooden structure it needed a place to breathe especially near the joints as condensation became an issue. If you were going to do your own build make sure you put in plenty of vents. Thanks for watching have a great day.

    I'm planning to do my own DIY truck camper, though with a different construction method. I was wondering why you decided to make the back a slide-out rather than just making the box a solid seven feet in length and just leave the tailgate down. Is there a state regulation at play there?

    • @Cypheroutside
      @Cypheroutside  4 года назад +2

      ZombieTex there are times I like to pull a trailer with a small boat on it. Not to mention the added maneuverability when I’m in the back country. Also my F150 with the extra cab has a tendency to keep its nose in the air and the extra 2 feet hanging off the back really causes that to happen. All reasons for the backslide. However if I did it again I would definitely build in a slide system or hinge rolling system just to make it a smoother transition.
