    I took delivery of my Cadillac Lyriq Sport 3 AWD in January of this year. $8,500 discount with a $50,000 trade-in value. I love it!

    Hello friend. I was at the Cadillac dealer about 3 weeks ago. Btw, my vehicle 2023 is scheduled delivery February/March. The lyriq manager stated that there is NO change bet. the 2023 and 2024 models except 2 additional exterior color options. Everything else is the same. The doors will not change for the 2024 model. (Shark Fin handle to open the front door) The Sports trim model will not be available for 2024 here in the States. (for now) It's only available in China thus far. The AWD comes with the hands-free kick release for the trunk, the door sills emblems, and 20" rims. He stated the reason why the AWD is not offered with the 22" rims because it is meant for off-roading. I said well "I don't do off roading. Let me decide." He stated that is how GM is marketing the AWD. But he did say if you decided to get your own 22" rims, it would not void the warranty. When I spoke with the dealer, he said there was no 7500 Gov't rebate for 2023 or 24. That's why they kept the price the same or lowered it. That's all I have for now.

    Spoke to a dealer a couple days ago and they are saying that the Lyriq preorders are almost pointless since most people who preorder won’t have an opportunity to place a dealer order. They said it was more up to chance of who’s selected. Is that what others are hearing? I read an article saying Cadillac is increasing production dramatically compared to earlier in 2022. Really want to know the likelihood of getting a Lyriq this year.

  • @billjohnson3344
    @billjohnson3344 2 года назад +3

    The $7500 is based on when you take delivery, not when a VIN is assigned. Not sure where you got that - the bill is clear - when the vehicle "is placed into service" by the owner. That's at the time of purchase. So if you have a 2023 being built in 2022, as long as it is delivered in 2023 (when you pay for it), you are good. In the case of AWD's, they won't be even built till early 2023, so those are all good. 2023 RWD may be delivered in 2022 or 2023 - depends on where you are in the queue, and your dealers priority.

    I received a $7,500 Federal Tax Credit for my 2022 Kia EV6 GT-line AWD I pre-ordered the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq AWD. It is bigger than my Kia EV6 GT-line. In Michigan, I need an AWD EV vehicle. Will the battery content qualify for the 2024 Federal Tax Credit (it is made in the United States)? I am concern about a huge dealership markup. We will see in 2024....

    You seem to keep mentioning the same things - like why you can't get 22" wheels on the 2023 AWD. That's because the AWD for 2023 they equipped for towing - and those low profile tires are not the right combo for that. Same reason for the handsfree tailgate not being available, as the hitch receiver is in the way. They limited configs for 2023 - for right or wrong, but that's why you don't have the 22" option with AWD (in addition to less range). For 2024, the tow package will be optional, so you can get those wheels/tires on the AWD - if you don't care about range. This has been stated lots of times in the comments (you always say to post to educate you) - not sure why it isn't sinking in. :)

  • @billjohnson3344
    @billjohnson3344 2 года назад +3

    Not sure why this is mystery. The 2023 vehicle is loaded for $63/65K (RWD/AWD) - just one version. The 2024 at $60/64K (RWD/AWD) is the base model - stripped of tons of features. In that price you will be missing key things that you want - such as Super Cruise. Just look at how Cadillac does the trims on their other vehicles. You get a huge value with the Lyriq with the 2023 and its price (even greater value for those fortunate to get the Debut edition at $3K less). Would not be surprised if to equip a 2024 the same as a 2023 will be $10K more. Yes you can add some missing things like HUD and rear climate and heated seats with the 2024 model, and that's only going to cost even more. Really a no-brainer: if you want the best value, go with 2023. If you are in need of the missing items (or combos), go with 2024 - and expect to pay more and wait longer.

    • @ji3200
      @ji3200 2 года назад

      But how do you know if 2024 AWD don't have Supercruise and other option? Nobody know at this point even Cadillac contigent support saud they not sure

    • @billjohnson3344
      @billjohnson3344 2 года назад +2

      @@ji3200 Just look at any other Cadillac (CT6/XT4/XT5/XT6). Cadillac has said there will be multiple trims on the Lyriq in 2024. And when they offer multiple trims, the low trims don't have the bells and whistles (such as Super Cruise, cooled seats, etc). The 2024 price they are showing is the base trim, which will be stripped down from the all-inclusive single trim they offered for Debut and 2023. It is true the exact configuration isn't known, but expect it to be much more lacking. If you want the fancy stuff, it will cost you in up-level trim and options.

    I still have my 2023 RWD Crystal White Tri-Coat on order. I ordered the optional 22 inch wheels. If the 22 inch wheels are not available for the 2024 AWD, it might have something to do with physical availability OR, it could also have something to do with performance and/or slippage with the larger wheel. Could be a technical reason why it is not being offered. That would be an excellent question to ask the Lyriq Concierge.
    One more thing, It sounds like you were saying earlier that purchases made and delivered in 2022 would not get the $7,500 credit at the POS, but would rather obtain it when filing a 2022 tax return. I would be good with that since that is how I took the credit on my 2013 Chevrolet Volt and my 2016 Cadillac ELR.

    You’re playing a dangerous game. While it makes sense to wait, there’s no telling what’s standard on the ‘24 and what’s add-on. They think ‘24s are going to get de-contented to keep the base model cheaper.
    Lastly, the ‘24s are estimated at those prices. Until we see the actual final MSRP, we need to be cautious. They could still increase prices due to supply chain and now they’re closer to 70k

    • @jhrome202
      @jhrome202 2 года назад +4

      I agree, they are not gonna get cheaper especially since the senate just passed the Inflation Reduction Act today which will give at the start of 2023 $7500 off from point of sale for the Lyriq. That is going to make it in high demand and hard to get hands on one of you did not preorder it and Cadillac might feel comfortable increasing the price a little bit because of the tax credit. Also, the next year model most likely will not come standard with Super Cruise and two years of free evgo those will be add on’s most likely.
      I have my order in for the AWD 2023 and I’m not canceling, definitely since it will not be produced until early 2023. Gonna get my $7500 off :)

      @@ji3200 I think the Lyriq will either be eligible for half or the whole $7500 since the battery is assembled in ohio which should qualify it for $3750 since the tax credit is broken up into two credits. As far as the other $3750 it depends where GM sources the minerals for the battery, in 2023 40% of the minerals need to come from North America or a country we have a free trade agreement with. So we shall see on the other $3750, but hopefully we can get the whole $7500!!

    Good video. Thanks! While the 22" wheels do look better my primary concern is range so I'm leaning towards ordering the RWD model with 20" wheels. I'd like to submit a 2024 pre-order but I'm concerned about dealer mark-up. Any suggestions on how to find a dealer that will be willing to sell at MSRP? Inflation Reduction Act bill looks like it will become law at the end of 2022. This will eliminates the 200,000 vehicle EV production limit (for tax credits), and reinstates the $7500 tax credit for the Lyriq (trucks and SUV's up to $80k), so this will no doubt increase Lyriq's demand considerably.
    Interesting point about the Lyriq's odd front door handles getting iced up. Thick ice can be an issue on most any door handle, especially these new door handles that electrically pop out (ex: Tesla Model S). I would image if you have a thick coating of ice over those pop-out type door handles, the door handle will not pop out, so perhaps the Lyriq's current weird front door handles might offer a better door opening option in icing conditions.

    Don’t believe the hype. Even if they reduce the price of the 2024 Lyriq this still a possibility that there could be inflation on electric vehicles for the next 3 to 4 years. Right now people are so desperate to get Teslas that they are paying many thousands of dollars more than the car is worth just to get one. I already know that the Lyriq is going to commend premium prices and I’ll be lucky just to get one without paying MSRP as my dealer promised.
    You also have no idea whether or not all of the features that are included with the launch edition will carryover to the 2024 model. For example: heated/cool/massage seats may be taken out in order to make them a pricey option.

    The door handles are more of an issue than rims. Self opening doors and soft close would have been good. That's were the Model X wins.

    Tax credit. It may be that the credit is taken at point of sale, saving paperwork. The 22" wheels are shinier than the 20"s. I want the 20"'s for better ride, range, and efficiency. AWD is a bargain, but for some reason doesn't charge as fast as the 2WD. If the Ariya had the full credit, I'd cancel a Lyriq with no credit. Caddy should've put in an 800v system, as available in the Taycan, E-tron, Ioniq, and EV6, and in the upcoming EV Silverado.

    • @grantcarstens7716

      AWD lvl 3 charges same speed as RWD. The reason lvl 2 is slower on AWD is because the front motor added for AWD reduces space needed for the fastest onboard “charger” /(inverter) to take AC wall current to DC. Both AWD and RWD will accept higher currents than are (at least as of now) available at most available public charging stations. That will change of course but for now it will only matter for your home charging and still then only if you upgrade to the ~19kW

    I have my name on the list for 2023 since May but as the days go by, GM is making questionable moves especially on the Cadillac Lyriq packages. Beside the crazy price discounts, they also seem to be making a lot of future forecast on their position in the electric marketplace. They want to be the leader, but yet, I have not seen any volume deliveries in the US. or their capability to produce all the different models by 2025. Their decision to move forward on the Europe releases and more electric models predicted. I don't have faith in GM production or their quality controls for all they are promising. During these months of waiting my dealer finally admitting that my Lyriq would probably be in the early 2024 models queue. I had enough with the dealership and GM communication between customer and the so called queue. I went out and was fortunate enough to find a brand new Tesla Model Y Long Range with all the options, bought it for 73K, and pick it up within two days. Now, I am going to leave my name with the dealership and see if they will call me sometime in 2023. If they do, then I will find out what the going price for the Lyriq is....could even be cheaper than 60K. In the meantime, I will drive my Tesla.
