Now that’s a proper car. A no nonsense beast from better times. No silly driver aids Just man a machine. The way it should be. A beautiful Ford Capri RS2600. Stunning. 👌

I bought a MK1 3 litre GT ford capri in 2004. It was basically fit for spares. The guy I bought it from used it for drag racing. Body shell was in a right mess. Both 'A' posts where a bad state. Doors could be just about to fall off. Rear suspension points had big holes in chassis. List goes on. Was worth the £600 just for the engine. Mechanically it was spot on. So being as I can weld and a whizz at doing fibre glass I thought I could fix it and do a body kit. So it is now a ETCC ford "works" touring car replica in blue and white with 16 inch 3 piece split rims and a box arch body kit with a duck tail spoiler.

Stunning car, I have a mk1 into which I have fitted a 4.2 E type engine and steel cologne arches which I made from scrap car roofs

Ich hatte auch so einen 2600RS in Hellblau und Weis. Der Rost und der TÜV haben ihn mir genommen...

Yes it does sound as good as a DB4.

This is a great little car, but at high revs sounds like an angry bumblebee. These did well to keep up with the BMW's when they were up against them. The next year's Capri with the Cosworth 3100 was an entirely different and certainly different sounding machine. The 2600 sounded like a bumblebee - the Cosworth sounds like a very large, angry and dangerous animal with a huge set of lungs for the sound! The 2600 was a great little car, but it showed Ford that they had to up their game to be winners, and the Cosworth did the job exceptionally.

Painted to represent the second in class finisher at the 1972 Le Mans 24 hours (11th o/a) - Dieter Glemser/Alex Soler-Roig.
Sister car #54 was the class winner that year.

I ran a 2800 60degree in my midget from 1993 to 1995 then had a bad asthma attack and had to quit racing the midget and miss it everyday . Took that motor from 100 hp to 225 horsepower made the headers in the driveway with a gas torch.

Buzzy and crackly all at once. Like tastes great and less filling- but way better. I may build my engine after this one... So, thanks! Maybe.... the credit cards will thank you anyway...
