You are so right. The used lens market has some absolutely wonderful bargains. In 2024 we see a growing trend of the photography community embracing vintage and early digital era lenses. The Canon 100mm macro is one that deserves recognition. Others IMHO include the 85mm f1.8 (which I don’t own) and the original 70-200mm IS f2.8L which both have beautiful bokeh. There are some minor IQ compromises but today we like to call that ‘character’! 😉
Dude!! I’ve been looking for this review. I recently ordered this lens for my canon rebel t6. Can’t wait to get it, especially after this review. I got mine for $168. “Mint” we will see upon arrival.
I use it with 80d since 1 year. Thank you for the video. The lens look hyper good with the little camera . What is the name of that camera , if i may ask ?
I’ve the EF 24-70 f2.8 L II. and the EF 85 1.8. The 85 AF is slower than the 24-70. Any idea how the 100 will compare to 24-70? Specially for shooting moving subjects like children or portraits ?
Awesome! I have this one! Love it! I just picked up a used RF 100mm 2.8 for $800 in great working condition! Looks like new! The only reason I upgraded is for the 1.4x and the 5 stops of IS built in, combined with the R6 it’s amazing! BUT!! This 100mm macro non IS is amazing too! 😃🤙🏽😊
I had this lens and now have the L-version... both optically equal, but IS makes this focal length more versatile e.g for portrait or shoooting in mineralogy museum

Bought this lens a few days ago on ebay for $199.50 plus $18.45 shipping... It's a killer value for what you get from this fantastic overlooked lens !
Its pretty good. Canon will eventually repackage this as something else in the future and the new generation would never know.

Does it take good photos of insects like butterflies, bees, spiders?
U absolutely right, i was looking for it today!

It's a canon eos m , the first one.
I wanted this lens for Macro purposes. Halfway through your video I just paused and purchased It from MPB. You sold me on it. Thanks.
Glad I could help in some way. You will not be disappointed, Canon don't make stuff like this anymore. This one is a keeper.
Me to😂
@@johnakosem it's a fantastic lens and really versatile. I still use it for all my macro, from bugs to droplets.

100m 2.8 is fast. Mine doesn't hunt but must have a good body to go along with it.
@@SuperSlackOff thank you. I've the 5Dmk4.
Will work fine

All Macro lenses have exceptional quality, people tend to forget about that them.
@@SuperSlackOff I love macro lenses! Especially my 35mm 1.8 macro!

I know a professional photographer who uses the L version for jewelry and wedding . It's very versatile.
Thanks for sharing! I love your video. However, which non-L len do you have ? With or without USM? 😂
This is the Non-L, it is using USM. Just not L-glass.
Really helpful, thank you
i recently got this lens at a thrift shop. wondering if it would work on my canon t3i?
It should work without any issues.
ভাই শুভ কামনা রইলো। সাবস্ক্রাইব করলাম।
thank you ভাই । চ্যানেল টা দিয়ে কোন রকম ফটোগ্রাফির শখ টিকিয়ে রাখা job এর মাঝে ।
I’m about to put this on a GH5 with a Metabones adapter. Just got it today. It turns into a 142mm f1.98 stabilized!
Nice audio production as well, I’d be interested to know what you’re using.
Just a basic mic, nothing expensive or fancy, Boya BY-M1
Ah, And I’m curious about where you get your music too.
Nice video👍
Thanks 👍
