Wheel of Time review Episode 6 Season 2 - Rafe Judkins this week expands a minor part of the books of Egwene being trained with a pot into a whole episode. Not exactly what you'd expect to be gripping entertainment but still probably the best episode of the series simply due to the low bar of the others. Yet once more they destroy the rule systems of the magic, the Seanchan collars, the plot makes little sense and we spend lots of time with characters in the wrong place who don't exist. That pot to Egwene's head would KILL HER! They actually described part of it in the books of the double pain and how bad it is, the impact would be a shattered skull for Egwene and she could bleed to death inside her own head with not a single mark on her. OH LORD this is far far worse than I could've imagined.
@@aurorauplinks and there is a sentiment of finding the power being used on a person to be horrific, as they do consider it a dirty act. The Seanchan never learned healing partially because of how they view the One Power and those who use it.
The show wasn't even bad enough to be enjoyably terrible. Thankfully your reviews provide someone can commiserate with so I'm looking forward to your take on 7 and 8!
This is true- last year I loved watching reviewers' takes on RoP and Witcher BO, and I would eagerly wait for the next reviews as though they were must-see tv, lol. But WoT is just BORING. What genius had the idea of taking the most tedious parts of the books (Aes Sedai sitting around and talking) and have an adaptation focusing on that.
Ah yes, the episode based on a single, throw away line describing an event that happened off screen. It sure is a mystery how this show doesn't have enough time to be more faithful to the books!
_"How do you know Rand?"_ You see Rafe, all the way back in Baerlon in the first quarter of the very first book, the entire gang met Min and received visions from her. But why am I still expecting anything even remotely close to the source material at this point.
I know these videos don't get the views your other ones do but wheel of time is why I subbed to you in the first place. Thanks so much for continuing to do these.
Re the Seanchan torturer lady's acting- she seemed like an inexperienced actress, so I checked imdb, and yep. Her name's Xelia Mendes-Jones and she has just one past credit, for something called Sans Comic in 2018. Though we can also "look forward" to her being in the upcoming Fallout show. Such few credits often means an identity politics hiring, and that also checks out- she identifies as non-binary.
I want Judkins to never be allowed anywhere near any production or franchise until long past when the universe dies its quiet heat death. And even then…
You saying "they're trying to make the Seanchan the villains" made me realize something Despite trying to make them look evil...they managed to make them less evil than they were The Seanchan were incredibly evil. They were authoritarian slavers. They turned people into animals, into living puppets. They would kill simply because someone made inappropriate eye contact. And yet...they were still able to stand alongside the heroes at the end because they understood that the Dark One was worse than they were Here...they tone down the slavery, and the breaking of humans, the things that make them as evil as they were...and expect us to hate them just because That being said, the Dark One and his people in this show barely reach unpleasant, so...I guess that's par for the course
43:30 there's also the element of compulsion inherent in the warder bond, which isn't being shown which makes Alanna completely irrelevant since she wanted to bond Rand to control him. Now we've seen both the oath rod and the bond be incapable of forcing anyone to do anything in a situation where it should have happened Alanna will have a righteous reason for bond-raping Rand.
Please keep doing these reviews. As soneone who loved the books, i want to know what Rafe and his team of hacks are doing, but i don't want to have to watch it myself. Watching these kinda makes it feel like I'm watching them, but rather tgan watching alone, I'm watching with someone who also knows how awful it is compared to the books.
Its taken me a while to get around to it, but I wanted to let you know that Im finally reading The Wheel of Time because of your videos, reviews, and commentary on various streams. Im only just at the part where theyre leaving Emond's Field, but Im already hooked.
pretty sure they later show in the books that the suldam do have very weak levels of ability within the power. They test the girls randomly in the villages both holding and wearing the leash.
Yeah, anyone who can be a suldam can learn to channel, they're the people like Morgase who would never have channeled on their own but are capable of learning to touch it if they are taught.
Egwene could have been a suldam if moraine hadn't taught her to channel. She wasn't able to channel unguided like nynaeve. There are other characters who channeled spontaneously who had very little power. The potential power level and inherent ability to channel unguided are not associated with one another. Some suldam may be incredibly powerful. This is another of those little changes in the series that have immense repercussions to later story that the show runners haven't considered because they are halfwits.
@@michaelkeegan9260 No, Egwene had the spark the same as Nynaeve, she just hadn't started touching the source yet. Moraine makes it clear when she starts to teach Egwene that that is the only reason that she is teaching her without her enrolling in the white tower because she's on the cusp of touching the source for the first time already and Moraine wants to guide her through it so that she doesn't end up doing it on her own and risking burning herself out. That's why Moraine never offers to teach Nynaeve even though her potential is higher than Egwene's and why as soon as Egwene knows enough about channeling to avoid hurting herself the lessons stop until she formally joins the tower as a novice, because Aes Sedai generally have those that want to learn come to them and do not actively seek out potential channelers and teach them.
Watching this after the finale is over (thankfully) I feel so sorry for you. On that note, tear it to shreds it's the only enjoyment I may get from it.
You’re on point for some of it, but not quite on for others. Matt’s chapters in Book 9 tell a bit about how the collars come off and how they break the Domoni. It took Matt a couple hours to figure out how to open it, so it isn’t evident with a latch like a necklace. You have to twist on opposite sides or something like that. But it appears seem less. Also, the bond is able to transfer good or bad feelings. So the suldame can send a “mental” punishment when they do bad and a reward when they are good. So it is literally like dog training.
Thank you so much for these videos! I refuse to continue on with the WOT show on Amazon. The masterpiece writings of Robert Jordan, is life’s work inspired from living through war as a soldier, are completely tarnished. Malevolently destroyed by the writers as you would put it, which nails it. I love the book series so much. I’ve re-read the entire series at least six times over & the complete audio books two times over. I never thought this show would be this bad & insulting to RJ.
Logain was I severe Depression after being stilled. he could barely talk, and interact with people. It wasn't until he was taken from the tower with Suan, did he have something to live for. Even then, they treated him like Crap, but he endured it. cause he needed to be needed.
Thank you for the bit at the end. That's exactly how I feel. I'm sitting here watching the books burn while getting some hollywood morality lecture. Keep up the good fight man. I'm with you till the end!
'You can't touch anything you view as a weapon.' 'I kill people with flagstones.' *levitates* Edit: Be hilarious to run into one of these characters encountering someone who literally just decided to die instead of obeying. "Do what I tell you!" "Nah, just gonna die of thirst over here, sod off."

Thank u for continuing to review this awful show. It’s clearly not very popular but I suffered thru it and u make it better! I think this series would have been much better in animation form. It’s just too long with way too much magic going on. Loooks terrible in live action and makes me imagine it as anime
@@Rellana1 interesting. Just seems with the magic and such it could be a lot closer to books. Such a a shame re Witcher and WoT. I worry for the people who actually like this show. But calling this show quality is like calling Keeping up with the Kardashians high art.

I'm reading crossroads of twilight and when matt escapes ebou dar and rescues the 2 ars sedai that were made damane it was mentioned an aes sedai named Ryma is leashed and surrendered to the suldam and was a good obedient damane. That's all so far so yeah technically in the books and I dont recall if shes mentioned further, basically like 2 sentences. But just saying that name was used. Of course the show runners make up some story about a barely acknowledged character, instead of the actual important characters doing what they should. Ugh
whats worse how does he know its Ishamael, in the first 3 books he believes hes fighting the dark one itself..Ishy is mentioned, but he never figures it out until he gets to the stone of tear
I love watching these cus i haven't read the books ive just watched and thought eh its ok, but seeing all the stuff they changed is really interesting.
The whole benefit of having a collar that automatically punishes hostile intent or intent to escape is so that the owners of those collared people CAN act as a benevolent master. Being able to act like I, the master, treat you so well. Your pain stems from yourself. Relinquish your self to my judgement. THAT is what MAKES it so effective. Parents bicker all the time that they always have to be the bad guy, this isn't a novel concept and it's properly done IN THE BOOKS. How are the writers so mentally defective that they can't have actions and consequences be logically tethered in any way?
My thoughts is I've never read the book, will never watch the show, but enjoy your passionate criticism. Meanwhile, I've just finished One Piece on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a happy show with lovable characters, I recommend it to wash away the aftertaste of shitty shows you need to watch for our benefit.
Every time i see you wheel of time reviews i put onbs toga and put the books on a stone and scream at the sky Infront of them while having a picture of Il Duce as well. Been doing it since season one 😂
Iirc, there was an Aes Sedai in Falme, but the thing was, she was already a Seanchan prisoner. She was a bit character, and I guess they couldn't bring themselves to include what actually happened, because the woman was broken by them. So much so, she became *happy* being their slave, so the girls had to change their plans and not use her as part of their plan.
You’re right about the series I look forward to watching your reviews of it more than watching the actual episodes themselves. They’re absolute cringe fest.
Keep preaching brother! Damn... this was a long one too! Still enjoyed every minute of it and I imagine many of your viewers prefer this take down to watching the actual show. Also, F's in chat for our homie, Mr. Spider. F
One part of your analysis of this episode that I'm loving, is pointing all the pointless filler with Morraine. Doubly ironic, because Egwene's damane training is the closest they've come to the books since the attack on Winternight back in season 1.
you mean the attack where in the book most of the village was not attacked, except to sow confusion? The exceptions were Abell Cauthon's house, Haral Luhhan's house and forge, as well as Tam's farm and the Aybara farm outside of the village. The Trollocs were after Mat and Perrin as well as Rand, because they were looking for someone who was born near a certain time, and all three boys are within weeks of the same age. The show does not make that clear, because Rafe wanted to go the "but the Dragon Reborn CAN be female, too"-route. Imho the attack was filmed that way just to have Rosamund Pike give her nice to look at weaving dance performance, doesn't matter, that she destroyed have the village while doing so...
Never said it was super accurate during that scene; just meant Egwene's training was the closest they've come to the books since then. ;) @@belegur8108

I finished episode eight and boy, did it blow. Not sure if I'll keep watching on my own or just do so this way. It has a few good moments but still keeps failing to even try to keep the spirit of the books, of course.
Agree 100% with what you said at the end. Normally I would say something interesting or ironic. I'm a smart person. Nah, I just checked out, too. This whole episode was about watching Rand and Egwene get (sort of) tortured. I think it's giving these idiot writers too much credit to ascribe any motivations to them, but I can't help but recall what Tucker Carlson said last week "All these people making these terrible decisions have abnormal sex lives." Clearly the writers of these shows have some repressed sexual fantasies when there wasn't even a woke reason to make Lanfear a demon, they just wanted that; there wasn't even a self-consistent reality based reason for Moraine to slaughter a 4th horse they could have used to change out riders; there wasn't a woke reason to make Seanchan have long fingernails or stuffed mouths. They don't show battles, but they do show Moraine and Rand and Egwene covered in blood a lot. It doesn't matter, these writers are terrible, but clearly they are proving Freud right.
Hmm, some suldam might be a bit brutal, but generally speaking damane are like domesticated animals, pets, and that's why hurting them - unless you are the owner or trainer - is considered a rather egregious crime. Like kicking a puppy. But I guess affection for pets is too alien for Rafe.
Who knows... further evidence of retarded production team. They had some concept art that looked cool and immediately ran with it instead of considering the simple questions like, how do they change their clothes?
If I was in that girl's position, I'd be like, "So... I just have to endure over twice as much pain as you and I win?" Then proceed to put her in a sleeper hold. Just so you know, a sleeper hold is one of the least painful ways to get knocked out.
"The catches were a simple matter for him [Mat] the bracelet easiest. That was just a matter of squeezing the right spots, top and bottom, not quite opposite the leash. It could be done with one hand, and the bracelet popped open on one side with a metallic click. The collar was a little trickier, and required both hands. Putting his fingers on the proper spots on either side of where the leash attached, he pressed, then twisted and pulled while holding the pressure. Nothing happened, that he could see, until he twisted the two sides the other way. Then they came apart right beside the leash, with a sharper click than the bracelet. Simple." The people behind this show have clearly not read the books.

That pot to Egwene's head would KILL HER! They actually described part of it in the books of the double pain and how bad it is, the impact would be a shattered skull for Egwene and she could bleed to death inside her own head with not a single mark on her.
OH LORD this is far far worse than I could've imagined.
Let the hate flow through youuu
well they can heal with the power... although the seanchan did not know that til they learned it from the aes sedai.
@@aurorauplinks and there is a sentiment of finding the power being used on a person to be horrific, as they do consider it a dirty act. The Seanchan never learned healing partially because of how they view the One Power and those who use it.
It’s so bad, there’s no saidin or saidar. They’ve completely reworked the magic system.
It only says the pain inflicted is double. It doesn’t say that the damage is doubled, so there is no indication that her skull couldn’t handle it.
The show wasn't even bad enough to be enjoyably terrible. Thankfully your reviews provide someone can commiserate with so I'm looking forward to your take on 7 and 8!
It had to be written by AI (unplugged from the internet) clueless and asks no questions, just writes what it's told, doesn't fact check for reference.

Nobody sane wants disparu episodes 7-8 monument to evil
This is true- last year I loved watching reviewers' takes on RoP and Witcher BO, and I would eagerly wait for the next reviews as though they were must-see tv, lol. But WoT is just BORING. What genius had the idea of taking the most tedious parts of the books (Aes Sedai sitting around and talking) and have an adaptation focusing on that.
Ah yes, the episode based on a single, throw away line describing an event that happened off screen. It sure is a mystery how this show doesn't have enough time to be more faithful to the books!
_"How do you know Rand?"_
You see Rafe, all the way back in Baerlon in the first quarter of the very first book, the entire gang met Min and received visions from her.
🎶 I fought the Lore and / the Lore won 🎶
At this point it, I just want Rafe Judkins to keep surprising us with such quality stuff
I want Judkins to never be allowed anywhere near any production or franchise until long past when the universe dies its quiet heat death. And even then…
You saying "they're trying to make the Seanchan the villains" made me realize something
Despite trying to make them look evil...they managed to make them less evil than they were
The Seanchan were incredibly evil. They were authoritarian slavers. They turned people into animals, into living puppets. They would kill simply because someone made inappropriate eye contact. And yet...they were still able to stand alongside the heroes at the end because they understood that the Dark One was worse than they were
Here...they tone down the slavery, and the breaking of humans, the things that make them as evil as they were...and expect us to hate them just because
That being said, the Dark One and his people in this show barely reach unpleasant, so...I guess that's par for the course
FECK UR OATHS
This is what you get when your "brutal fantasy show" is written by soft yuppies with the mental fortitude of toddlers
Its "Safe edgey." Which is stupid
Seanchan are not evil. They don't treat their servants worse than Randland nations and have more social mobility than them.
They come across as "Discount Qunari", which is ironic because the longer I watch this it's clear the Qunari were at least partially based on them.
Never made it past S1 EP2 when i rage quit. Disparu has seen more horrors than a Forsaken, and we love him for it.
He’s truly a a hero! Robert Jordan would be proud💚
I am just really glad to see you get great mileage out of that "Make it make sense!" scene. Cracks me up a little every time! x'D
Wheel of Psychopathy is evidence that you can only write what you know. Rafe needs to be on a FBI watch list.
The suldam are basically just Aes Sedai that need some help actually accessing the one power, which is a super funny reveal.
@@Jokoko2828 yeah it's like meant to be poignant in that they were torturing women who were even more like them than they realized
It's like they're trying to turn the Seanchan Sul'dam into the D'Haran Mord-Sith
damn, now i miss Cara, one of the highlights of LotS 🤩😍
Given that Goodkind ripped off Jordan all the time.. Fitting!
So. What happened to your react series on this? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how things wrapped up.
7:43 RIP Spider. His death at Amazon's hands will be avenged.
Watching this after the finale is over (thankfully) I feel so sorry for you. On that note, tear it to shreds it's the only enjoyment I may get from it.
I find it entirely reasonable that no one involved in making a Hollywood series would want Pure Evil to be held accountable for its actions.
Remember to keep all the adan rules that were established in this episode when you watch episode 8.
So it took six hours, but we finally got one paragraph of the actual Great Hunt 😂
I never thought this show would be this bad & insulting to RJ.
been waiting for you to put this one out.
Thank you for making these. It makes me realize how awesome this show could of been
Logain was I severe Depression after being stilled. he could barely talk, and interact with people.
I appreciate you keeping up with this series! never heard of Wheel of Time until I started watching your content. still, I enjoy the reviews (and the frustration, lol) I even consider reading the books now :)
l am still frozen every time l see "Lan's icy blue eyed stare".
At this point it's probably unlikely you continue torturing yourself with this... thing. A pity you did not finish the reviews though. They are genuinely hilarious and the only way I'm going ever to touch any of this - and I'm personally very thankful for your work. Being a 6 foot stick for other people is not a very nice experience though...
Thank you Disparu for maknig these. Yes no one cares about this show... but in a month when no one has remembered WoT's show, your vids and Shad's will be the only proof that they existed. lol
I really enjoy these reviews a LOT. Thanks!
You destroyed what you love.
Now you can be a REAL woman!

Underrated comment.
Thank u for continuing to review this awful show. It’s clearly not very popular but I suffered thru it and u make it better!
I think this series would have been much better in animation form. It’s just too long with way too much magic going on. Loooks terrible in live action and makes me imagine it as anime
I like that idea. Maybe an animation style like “Waking Life” movie, where it’s animated over live action.
Robert had a offer from a japanese anime studio, but they just wanted to do one of the books,so he turned them down.
@@Rellana1 interesting. Just seems with the magic and such it could be a lot closer to books. Such a a shame re Witcher and WoT. Wish people would stop trying ti ‘modernize’ stuff as the writers are simply not capable of improving on work that is essentially far beyond them. Seems unethical and disrespectful to ip and original creator unless the changes r their idea
@Gyrfalcon312 Sadly he lost his fight with cancer before he could do anything about it,as from the sound of his letters,he fully intended to revoke their rights.
Disparu, your commentary is seriously amazing. Thank you so much for bringing a little light and fun to the travesty of this show.
Yes, it's back! I thought you stopped reviewing these! I need your season 2 finale review. I gotta know what happens and I am sure as hell not watching this garbage.
I don’t want dis’s review of episode 8
I worry for the people who actually like this show. I also marvel at their ability to switch off their own brains, ignore the dialogue, the writing, characterisation, world-building etc.
If they acknowledged it's trashiness, I could let it go. But calling this show quality is like calling Keeping up with the Kardashians high art.
the people who like the show are under the marxist compulsion. They are useful idiots.
I love your sum up at the end of this episode about the corrupted morality as presented in the show vs books. Made me decide to read the books. Gotta do something in retirement 😂 14 books...sheesh.
Ah... but if you LIKE the books... then there's a lot to like!!😁
Me... I liked the books quite a bit.
I hope that you are enjoying them!
@@nicolethompson8613Yes, thank you. I audiobooked the first, just finished, because I have 3 h commute. It was super cool. World, plot, characters, and some really awesome turns of phrase, from a strictly writing mechanics point of view, really got me hooked.
Spot on with your power description, they just want to feel power regardless of good or evil.
There is a latch on the A'dam but it does canonically look and feel seamless unless you know exactly where to press.
the 3 oaths WERE broken buy the black ajah, but as you stated, they wouldnt want to get outed so they would at least pretend that they still held...at least in front of most people, when not planning something
Thank you for saying "fancy man" again. 🤣 That gets me every time. British English (King's English? English English?) is awesome.
Oh gawd i cant wait till you see the season finale :D Thats going to be epic ! I found the season watchable before that ( if i dont think much about the books) Which is a solid standard for book based fantasy shows these days :D
It's interesting that one of the main things in the world is Rand repeatedly denying the evil. Here they are like, ya okay I guess we will work together.
Love your reviews mate. When I was about to watch each episode of the tv show, I'd tell my kids, 'Daddy is going to go shout at the tv for an hour.'
Would love to see your reaction to Brandon Sanderson's live watch of the final episode btw.
No way!!!! Brandon is doing that! Thanks for the info! I had no idea!! I hope he hates it but i know where his heart is now -. $$$$$$$
18:07 Pray I don’t alter it further.
I love watching these cus i haven't read the books ive just watched and thought eh its ok, but seeing all the stuff they changed is really interesting.
Books are really good (masterpiece genre) & hopefully still worth reading after this atrocity of an adaptation
It's official a spider falling off a wall better than "wheel of time".
"Wall spider" the next big challenge show it'll have velcro or something.
I couldn't watch past the first 10 minutes of the show. I'm glad you've stuck with it to update us all
The whole benefit of having a collar that automatically punishes hostile intent or intent to escape is so that the owners of those collared people CAN act as a benevolent master.
Probably because they haven't HAD serious consequences flow from their own actions, or, their amygdala is...special.
Yes! Show us your Tree, song-builder!
I'm sure Rafe is going to invoke a certain internet rule.
The books are great.
@disparu Elayne's actually sposed to be with Nynaeve working on how to break out Egwene they actually got this correct from the books

There's damane all over the city who are in theory constantly channeling but they freak out when the girls channel

I think he started and then throw it away. As far as i was confused how this season went, the T-Shirt change in this video, was very disturbing....😅
I love how @Disparu uses snippets from the other awful shows he reviews to make his points, essentially creating a Disparu Cinematic Universe
Thank you for fueling my rage at this adaptation. I hope Rafe is never allowed to show run anything ever again.

Horribly enough, I can imagine The Spiderwick Chronicles being worse when the recorded episodes from Disney+ get released on Roku next year…
The continuity person was deffo burning some trees 🌲 ❤️🔥 🌬️🍃
How do they change their clothes with those massive collars on? The original collars in the books were slender silver bands, not a half barrel...
Still one of my fav vids the spider reaction was amazing

"The catches were a simple matter for him [Mat] the bracelet easiest. That was just a matter of squeezing the right spots, top and bottom, not quite opposite the leash. It could be done with one hand, and the bracelet popped open on one side with a metallic click. The collar was a little trickier, and required both hands. Putting his fingers on the proper spots on either side of where the leash attached, he pressed, then twisted and pulled while holding the pressure. Nothing happened, that he could see, until he twisted the two sides the other way. Then they came apart right beside the leash, with a sharper click than the bracelet. Simple."
The people behind this show have clearly not read the books.
Broooo I just got dinner. Let’s gooooo🔥🔥🔥
Have they introduced Faile? Maybe Perrin is going to be with Min in this version and they cut Faile
No Faile yet.
Faile is book 3... they adapted a few moments from book 2 in this.
