I honestly feel like they are going to figure out how to break the chains. I'm paying attention to all the "rules" and things they are figuring out. They had to have already told us what the key was. Especially if they are similar to the Arches. With the arches they thought Nyeve wouldn't come back. But she did. Especially with the whole, you only get one chance to come back. Actually she got two. So these chains must be Egwine Arches test. Or Nye and the princess is going to break it for her. (I know I'm probably spelling their names wrong but I can't remember)

I am veeeery curious if the way Egwene gets out of the a'dam is to be shielded from the One Power -- Nynaeve said the a'dam can only be healed by joining with a woman who can channel. What if Egwene temporarily can't channel?
I haven't read the books beyond book 1 so this is complete conjecture! Can't wait to see what happens.

@@mohmohlante5809 I had to come back to your comment. I was thinking about something. The lady kept saying anything you think to use as a weapon you cannot. So could Egwene think about hurting her slaver with the one power, then be temporarily unavailable to channel. Making her be able to remove the collar like you said? Or would she literally have to be shielded from the power? I'm only thinking of this bc Nyneve also has blocks with her power bc of her fear of it and other things, and she had a point where she could not channel well unless necessary.

While you’re right that Siuan’s travels to Cairhien wouldn’t have taken weeks, I assumed the Lan/Siuan scene occurred some time before the events in Cairhien-that what they showed on screen did not imply concomitant events and were only shown to us that way for dramatic effect. The juxtaposition of Moiraine seeing a Siuan letter with seal broken and then us seeing Siuan sealing a letter suggested this to me. I figured the timeline didn’t sync until Lan confronted Rand at the end.

My favorite part was the Ryma/Nynaeve interaction and how Ryma finally showed Nynaeve an Aes Sedai she could wholeheartedly respect and also relate to, not only on account of healing but also Ryma’s selfless determination to protect others. You are right about the dialogue between Rand and Logan. I thought the male half of the one power wasn’t being described and on the first watching misunderstood Logan as to suggest that Rand surrender to it. I think part of what makes Mat so likable is his charm and mischievous nature. From what I've seen, I think that Donal is going to be better at embodying that than Barney did or could. His backstory isn't as dark in the books, and because Barney left they had to switch up his character and plot a bit, so his humor and charm haven't been showcased the way they might have been otherwise. I'm excited to see how they include it more going forward. But it's also ok not to like him! I cared about all the characters but I don't know how many of them I'd actually want to hang out with in real life, lol. Sometimes even reading about them was frustrating! Great video. It was in earlier episodes but did you see the mantle in Moraines room? The lower portion had some horses, a bowing stag, a golden woman (or woman in a yellow dress) a ship and on the upper part of the mantle there is a man with a sword lunging. Effectively in the sky above the other figures/models. Just fun foreshadowing I think though the stag doesn't seem to relate to anything I can think of. I think a stag is the sigil of a Kandori lord but I'm not sure. It's a chapter symobl in new spring is all I could find.
The yellow lady could be Rhyma, the horses representing whitecloaks and seanchan, the ship is the captain that Rhyma mention (Bayle likely) and the man with the sword on the upper mantle represents Rand. I'm probably reaching but I just love little easter eggs like this hinting at things to come.

My two cents is that Alanna &co didn't really believe Lan might be a darkfriend - they were bluffing, using the credible "proof" they had discovered, and hoping that it would pressure Lan into revealing the truth.
Someone on Wheel Takes discord even took it a step further and suggested that maybe Lan wasn't just forced to make that revelation. Maybe it was more that he saw how devoted they were to opposing the Shadow, and decided he could trust them. Indeed, maybe that was actually Lan's plan along: be obvious about the poem to make them suspicious enough to read it, and see what they do; if they demonstrate their opposition to the Shadow, then recruit them into his plan to stage an intervention for Moiraine. If not, well... ? Just dissemble maybe?

Earlier in this episode we have Moiraine's comment that she is really the heir of her house. I think that this meeting will lead to the reveal that Bartharnes and/or her mother is/are Darkfriends. I have a theory about how Egwene will be rescued. Elayne and Nynaeve now have an a’dam but have no idea how to remove one. They decide to kidnap a sul’dam and force her to tell how to remove the collar. Namely, Seta, who happens to be walking on the streets of Falme without a damane. The girls collar her, hoping that it will give her a reason to tell them how to remove it. As a surprise to everyone, it does actually work on her and Seta tells the girls how to remove it, hoping that they will free her. Then, Elayne and Nynaeve dress up as sul’dam and take Seta to the damane kennels. They free Egwene who then collars Renna who shows up. This is a slightly modified version of what happened in the book.
I think Maigan might be rescued alongside Egwene. Nynaeve and Elayne now have four rings. They and Egwene will presumably use three of them to pose as full sisters. That leaves one ring. Maigan’s actress is credited for episode 8 on IMDB, while Ryma is not known to appear until the next season. Also, there’s only one yellow one, presumably for Nynaeve.
If it’s true Moiraine has sworn an oath to not reveal the secret of the Dragon Reborn, what’s the exact wording? It would be pretty silly if she still couldn’t talk about it once everyone and their mother knows. The theory does make sense, though. In the show, Moiraine and Siuan were full sisters when they heard the prophecy. I can imagine Tamra forcing them to swear an oath as opposed to kind of forgetting about them like in the books.
They still haven't used the words saidin and saidar. They should have by now.

I wonder if the show is playing on the trope of “ex lover crazy obsessed woman” for Lanfear and lulling the viewers into buying that as her only motivation, but are making her more complex by leaning into how Lanfear only wanted LTT for his position/power, and by extension is going after Rand as The Dragon. It would give her the ability to go for what she really wants, her own Power.

I think it is good to show, that there is no such thing as "unbreakable", not even the strong Egwene. Because that word suggests, that when broken, it was the victims fault for being to weak. Nobody is unbreakable, that is why it is important to treat each other with respect.

Speculation: Maybe Min's vision of Mat stabbing Rand with the Shadar Logoth dagger is the foreshadowing of the show's version of a certain cleansing (cf. In addition to being a symbol of the cycles of rebirth, I think the image of Rand being lashed to a wheel is making an allusion to a medieval torture device known as a "Catherine wheel" or "breaking wheel." In particular, the second part of the torture, after the bones have been broken, where the body is tied to the wheel and raised on a pole for public display

I always felt like being stilled/gentled is verry similar to withdrawal. And in both situations people expect you to get over it fast and be kind gentle and understanding. I think Moraine getting over it so fast will undermine the importance of being stilled/gentled.

Thank you for another wonderfully detailed recap. Well spotted on when Lanfear pulled Rand away from Egwene. I don't doubt she was doing it as she did not want them connecting but it would make total sense that if the show goes with the books and has it a bad idea for a male challener to touch the adam she was also being protective. Assuming she understands the adam. In the books it was made after the sealing but the way it Tony Stark suits up it does give off AoL vibes. Even if it was invented after her sealing Lanfear likely understands the underlying theory better than anyone aside from Ishamael.
Like you I was not expecting Ryma's fate to be so hard hitting and emotional but the actress did a wonderful job showing her to be kind, compassionate and giving of herself. I do hope we see more of her and that her fate differs from the books.

10:08 Lanfear telling rand "No one and nothing ever gives you what you want. you must take it", is similar to how Logain nudges Rand to grab the one power whilst teaching Him. Lanfear knows his power and perhaps him grabbing the One Power would drive him mad in truth and in some way fulfill the dark one's plans idk (not a book reader).

I think I can explain without being spoilery, picture this: loop a piece of thread around your finger but then let go. If someone pulls that thread, it will unravel and come right off. Now loop a thread around your finger but tie a strong knot in it. Now you can let go and even if someone pulls the ends, it will hold.
So if you apply that logic to threads of the One Power, particularly a shield blocking someone else from touching the OP, you can probably imagine what it means to "tie off a shield."

    • @Alex.Almodovar
      @Alex.Almodovar 11 месяцев назад

@@HowieStephens so basically that means the shield is secured in place and the channeler that placed it does not need to maintain it and of course since they planted the seed that the Amerlyn has the gift of untying knots she will remove Morraine’s shield. So why was it necessary for so many to maintain Logan’s shield when it could have been tied? One of those “it makes no sense” things I guess 😂

I like the idea that Siuan has been captured and stilled. And Lanfear has replaced her. That in the trailer for the next episode that is Lanfear disguised as Siuan along with the black Ajah members. However, I don’t think it actually fits the direction the show is going. I believe it is Siuan. I believe Rand gets away and her inability to control the dragon in that moment, leads to the descent in the tower and her downfall. Moiraine will get her ability to channel back thanks to Siuan. Her, Lan and Rand will escape to Falme. And in the last episode each of the five Taveren will choose the light but in a way that will change everything. I haven’t read the books though.

@@UnravelingthePattern I believe the prophecy Min gave Moiraine is far more interesting than the one she has of Matt and Rand because it’s ludicrous for the writers to want us to believe that Rand will be murdered. For that reason I’d really love to hear what you guys in the book reader content creating community would have to say about the unfolding of that Moiraine’s prophecy. It would make a really good video because the prophecy component of this story is the most fascinating in my opinion. Especially the fact that someone as composed and adept as Moiraine has been fooled by prophecy more than anyone. I’d go as far to say that Lan told Siuan, Siuan came up with a plan to expose the truth of the dragon and that’s the letter Moiraine was reading. Moiraine doesn’t agree with the plot because her inability to channel complicates her ability to protect Rand. Is there anyone else they can trust to believe the dragon could right the ship this time? To me, this season is more about this conflict than anything else, including the Horn.

In the books the Three Oaths predated Artur Hawkwing. This is another example of the TV series consolidating and taking shortcuts for dramatic impact. It works for TV, and works well, because we simply don’t have enough screen time to give the extended background.
The books and RJ’s notes reveal that the Three Oaths were actually put into use sometime between the War of Power and the Trolloc Wars, so that Aes Sendai would be trusted by the fractured petty kingdoms which the Aes Sedai wanted to influence. The fact that the Oath Rod was originally made to punish criminal mis-use of the Power, and that it halved the life span of the channeler being bound, was either forgotten or deemed to be an acceptable price to pay for the peace of the world.
