This song gave me the courage to travel across the world, from Sweden to Australia where I've now been residing for the past 3,5 years. It made me want to chase after something within myself that I knew existed, but that had been buried a long time ago, when life started happening and I was no longer a child. You can say my 5 year old, independent self lit a fire in me. 22 years later I found her again on the other side of the world. I've been living in Lord Huron's songs since I heard 'The Stranger' for the first time in 2010. The love I hold for your music is indescribable.

We are sinners living in despair in this world. We're here to suffer the world for a time and suffer the next world for eternity.
There are people who tell us doing good things will save us from God's judgment. No, not really. Romans 6:23 says that the wages of sin is "death", and not good works. We must pay our sins with our own lives!

Exactly! The Bible tells us that because of God's unconditional love for us, He became a man 2000 years ago to die for all our sins. ❤️❤️❤️
The requirement of sin was the sinner's life, but Jesus gave His life as a substitute for ours.
We sinned, but Jesus died. That's called the grace of God! God took that which is ours (our punishment) for us to have that which is His (eternal life).
If you believe in Jesus, your punishment will become His, and His eternal life will become yours.
We broke God's law, Jesus paid the fine! And He proved this by rising from the dead. I don't know about you, but if somebody rises from the dead, I'll believe what they say.
If you want to follow Christ today, then deny your whole self, and follow Him with all your heart! Pray and read the Bible daily and get to know who He is. Then start living for Him who died for you!

This song reminds me of a girl I met over 2 years ago. I fell for her but another man beat me to her. I moved on, found someone else, but I never forgot. A year later, single again, I tried to find her. I found an old email address but it was no longer in use. I got no response. Broken hearted, I gave up. Then a couple months later she responded saying she checked that old email on a whim and that she had never forgotten me either. Now we're engaged to be married.

All Lord Huron's songs are beautiful
Well some folks say nobody makes great music anymore. I listen to "The Night We Met", "When the Night is Over" and I have to say, this is some of the finest music I have heard in a while. A mix of Roy Orbison, Chris Issak, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the wonderful, late Hal Ketchum rolled into one fantastic and talented group of musicians. Keep up the fabulous work.... A 60+ year old Texas Fan.

It's really astonishing and kinda sad at the same time that there are songs that you don't know about which are truly golden, yet we discover each song through different situations be it breakups, the loss of a loved one, depression. What an incredible piece of music
I wanted to say that my recommended lead me to this band after listening to a lot of Mumford & Sons and NEEDTOBREATHE in the past year, or so. I Just found out about this band today and sat down to listen to their stuff as I was afraid to wonder outside of my 2 favorite band's safe zone, at the time. I felt that I couldn't find one that suited me. Now look were I am. The first band I stumble upon is this masterpiece. This day has truly bested any other adventure, musically and physically, that I have embarked on at any point in my life and I wanted to thank you for that. Truly beautiful.

Going through my mix and went from 'Mine Forever' into this and it's amazing how good the transition is. Lord Huron is just magical. Even the themes of the two songs fit together as does pretty much all their music, across albums, all the while feeling fresh. Vide Noir takes a darker turn, but even then, it just adds depth to the feeling of the other albums and singles. I am so excited for Long Lost!

this absolute beauty of a song was played during the Justin Long movie "A Case Of You" and even though it was just a 40 second snippet of the song,it immediately took the movie to a higher realm! My brother,Todd,has superb taste in music(Smiths,R.E.M. Police,Zeppelin,Neil Young.....etc.)and he pretty much would work for free as a roadie for Lord Huron! On God's ipod,no doubt!

I actually find this fascinating that this was never continued despite the "to be continued..." at the end. It's almost like it knew- so often when people meet someone briefly and it's magical but they lose them shortly after meeting, they *never* meet again- and without a continuation to this, intended or not, this is the end of the story. Despite all his searching, he never found her again.
