A lot of people got here from Community (I won’t lie, I did too) but man this song. Once I got to learn the entire thing, it hit me in a real tender place. I just turned 36 so I’m not old really, but I always think I’ve lost much of that ambition, that fire that I had when I was younger to experience everything, you know? You get older and settle down, and you mean it when you say you’re happy to be where you are if you’re lucky. But today I listened to this song and realized I’m just as ambitious now as I ever was, I just have many more people to answer to before I disappear anywhere. And that makes you spin your life into haiku and you reach for the stars that you can reach within the boundaries you set for yourself. I don’t miss never being satisfied to be where I was, but I do remember that young man fondly, and I hope he wouldn’t be too disappointed by the older man he grew up to be.
lord huron are the songs i hear in my head when i imagine cutting all my losses and embarking on a trip (or is adventure a better word) where i let myself just live and travel where i want, see what i want to see, and meet people from every corner of the globe regardless of what it may take and the trials it will cost
CJ Feist that's exactly what I think when I hear this song!! I always picture myself going on the greatest adventure with my friends and teacher (cause my Science teacher opened my eyes about the world). It's the greatest feeling when you listen to this and dream of the adventures you'll have.

Imagine you're on an island, you've played on the sandy beach, and blue waters all day. The sun is setting into the water, turning it orange, and you, and the person you love retire to your hammock. There's a faint noise of seagulls, and children playing farther down the beach carried in by the warm breeze. You and the person you love are sharing a pair of earbuds, listening to this song, and for the duration of the song, you don't need to talk, you don't need to post what you're doing on social media; this moment in time will belong only to you, and your love. A bit off track, the RRHOF is ridiculous - your favorite band the Moody Blues ought to have been inducted twenty years ago, just as my favorite band, ELO, ought to have been inducted twenty years before they were!
My wife and I saw them perform at the Ryman auditorium in Nashville. One of the very best live groups I've ever had the pleasure of hearing in my 75 years. Catch em if you can!
Community was an underrated gem. However, so was Longmire. So far, I don't see any comments about how very well this song fit the final scenes of that series. So, here's one.
I discovered Lord Huron right after my father passed. Like all of my siblings I had a complicated relationship with him but I still love and miss him. This album helped me deal with his death and has made me think about my eventual death. I have a lot of health problems and I most likely only have a couple decent years left. Listening to this album reminds me how important friends and family are. Also, how important it is to take chances and not to be afraid to live. *_"What good is livin' a life you've been given if all you do is stand in one place."_* Life is too short. Don't wait too long otherwise it will pass you by. So go make some good memories with your family and friends because memories are the only thing that live on.
A senior classmate of mine in my high school choir put this into Sheet music and we preformed this at her graduation with her and the other seniors in our choir. It was so lovely and I still listen to this song, it's such a happy memory for me and I'm so proud of her to this day.
I kinda do hope that they follow rhrough with the movie so that they would have the chance to show that jeff and annie end up together and that trow would return frim his trip and reunite with abed
@@wustesindhervorragend9415 I was thinking the same thing about Jeff and Annie, but remember how Jeff admitted that he was 40, and Annie is about 25, I think. I don't think he loves her in a relationship way, it's more a protective thing? They do kiss quite well, though, so who knows?
@@jenniferinman6403 well they are many times where they showed attraction to each other, however my main points are thst they themselves admitted their feelings(jeff in the last episode and annie in episode where jeff and britta were engaged) although i really just want to see more of the series
The first time I ever heard this song, it was on the soundtrack to the land before Time, you know the one with Littlefoot and his friends. It’s not like they were unknown before community or any of those other things, they’ve always been great and they’ve always been there.
Well some folks say nobody makes great music anymore. I listen to "The Night We Met", "When the Night is Over" and I have to say, this is some of the finest music I have heard in a while. A mix of Roy Orbison, Chris Issak, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the wonderful, late Hal Ketchum rolled into one fantastic and talented group of musicians. Keep up the fabulous work.... A 60+ year old Texas Fan.
I found this band a few years ago. I will be 63 next month, and have listened to a lot of music in my life, and I can tell you without the slightest hesitation this group has a magic that few can ever hope for. There is music that you dance to, music you listen to and it makes you smile, and music for almost every emotion, but there is precious little music that stirs the soul like the sounds Lord Huron creates. The videos are great and add a great deal to the experience, but when I really want to listen, I wait till the evening, turn on the Marantz, and drop Lord Huron on the turntable and wait for the magic to come forth from the Klipsch speakers in the darkened room. I frequently close my eyes and focus just on the music completely. You young folks...enjoy this time, enjoy this band, there likes don't come along every day.
Very well said, this music is transportive and transformative sound design from a higher plane. Immerse yourself in the world of Lord Huron and become part of the land/soundcape and soul architecture...sheer bliss. :) I'm 65 and this is the only "new" band I really dig.
I was introduced to Lord Huron from the series finale of the show Longmire. This band is ethereal! Almost without a time and genre. I love almost every song they've done. AMAZING!
This song is one of the only ones I’ve ever weeped to. And now, years after I first heard it I still do, it’s hard not to. I love this band, I love this song,. To the ends of the earth I will follow you.
I am sick with cancer and I listen to Lord Huron and it's like I forget my suffering and his music and voice heal my pain. When I die I have told my kids they must play his music at my funeral and wake. I don't want any other music. But Lord Huron
"I guess I'm going alone" gets me every time. He clearly cares about the girl he's singing to so, so much. But he still goes on without her. Tear-jerk moment right there.
I've been to 3 shows in Atlanta seeing Lord Huron. Last concert was a few days ago. THIS BAND PUTS ON A DAMN GOOD SHOW EVERY TIME!!! I beg you guys to attend one of their performances! .....You will return. The Live stuff takes their songs to another level!!!!!
I love this band, a lot. I also love how all their videos are thematic and just as incredible as their music, they really make it all around a great experience
I don't know man, for some reason I felt the pace of the video sucked a little bit of soul out of this amazing song.. I mean it wasn't bad by any standards, but they could've gone a different direction with the video
@@texas2step266 I watched Longmire then heard this song on a Professional Bull Riders video tribute to a rider who passed away. I loved it in Longmire but barely found out about it now.
I feel like this song is grossly underused in spiritual growth/ coming of age scenes in movies. It’s literally the soundtrack to overcoming obstacles and being stronger on the other end
please help me find this song. Unfortunately, I don't know the name, the artist, or even the words. All I remember is that the liver is very similar to Ends of the Earth and there was a picture on the preview of the song, a valley with a waterfall, and the song was released either in 2009-2010 or 2011-2012 and the artist's name may have started with the letter M
God bless you & your husband. Your taste is impecable. I discovered Lord Huron only a few weeks ago & I'm floored. This music is so absolutely wonderful.
I know I'm not the target audience but fell in love with this piece immediately. I'm 64 and I listen to Indie music courtesy of the Central Michigan University radio station.
The best songs are made from heart break. Ben is the best song writer and music composer with all his albums that coincide with the next, fitting together as the perfect book of musically written poems! What a delightful treat for a road trip, windows down!
this song makes me want to go on long walk in the countryside at 2am and just appreciate the darkness, the silence, the moon, stars, trees, the river and maybe even life.
I used to listen to this song every day back in my spiritual days. I was trying to find the truth about life, the universe, and myself. Now, 5 years later, I know that what I was really looking for was a way out of the pain. The pain of my childhood trauma, loneliness, generational trauma that is cemented in my DNA from a lot of abuse and pain suffered throughout my ancestry.
this song was my most listened to on spotify in 2020! community is one of my favorite shows, and i've been in love with the band since i heard "meet me in the woods" when i was eleven. definitely my saving grace in this horrible year.
when i was growing up my dad used to take me camping every summer. it was always a struggle for me to fall asleep. me being a little kid always thought there was a bear or someone outside our tent. to calm me down and put me to sleep he would always play this song and i’d be out before it ended. as i’ve grown older every time i get sick or feel sad i listen to this song to remind myself that it will get better and i won’t feel like this forever. this tradition of mine all started from my dad playing a song so i can fall asleep. love you dad ❤
I arrived on this page by going down a rabbit hole of folk, mariachi, and Americana. Years ago. The song resonated with me then. I mean it REALLY resonated with me in a very deep way. I own the album now, but I came back today because it came on random play while I was driving. Today even more than when I first heard this song, it resonates with me. I am on the verge of a giant life change. I might have to say goodbye to someone I love, as it would seem this is where our paths diverge. She wants to stay and live, as she herself puts it, “a simple life.” Meanwhile, I’m off to see the world again. After 5 years standing in one place, I’m on the precipice of a life on the road again. My work will likely bring me to all corners of the world. And from my previous experiences out there, I am well aware of how much there is I have still yet to see. Literally every word of this song rings true for me. I love her to pieces and I wish her choice was to come with me. I wish she had that undying wanderlust the way that I do. But not everyone has the same goals and the same things that drive them. I’d take a bullet for her, but I won’t stay only to end up resenting her for it. The song doesn’t strike a heartbreaking tone. Not even a lightly melancholy tone. To me, it’s an inquisitive tone, one of almost childlike wonderment. A parent letting their child go to chase after a ball or a puppy or a butterfly for the first time. My overriding desire to see as much of this place as I can feels a lot like that. And so I very much hope that if we do end up having to part ways, that we can find a way to celebrate that we found each other in the first place, and that we both have the respect for each other to let the other follow their path. I figured I’d write all that because it pertains to a connection a person can have with the actual song and not a TV show. There’s plenty of comments about the show and how much it meant to people. And that’s awesome. Just figured I put one out there about the song and how much it means to me.
Very Beautiful!!❤ wise choice!! I stayed for my ex husband and when we divorced I was sad, than grateful I took the chance to live my life authentically. I feel I have done more and saw more than I ever would have if I stayed. I have the wanderlust vibe too. Part of me feels I am meant to travel this world alone. Best wishes on your journey.
Going through a very hard time in life right now and even though this song reminds me of a couple of the things that are causing my pain.. it's so very beautiful and healing. One of my favorite songs ever ❤
I've been through a hard time in my life a while ago and Lord Huron helped me to see the light. I was so sad and so lost, but their songs made me feel so alive, so calm that I forgot my sadness for a while. It is now my favorite band and I feel happy every time I listen to one of their songs (even though most of them have pretty sad lyrics, they make me feel in a story).
This program legitimately changed the way I deal with life.... Its not over yet though.... Remember folks.... "6 Seasons and a Movie", cool... cool, cool, cool.
The moment I heard this song I was hooked. I got the cd turned up the stereo in my jaguar and dropped the pedal. In fact I drove past my turn off, refuel and kept driving. 3 days later I returned home. I tossed out my smokes. My cell phone and my life has never looked brighter. Your music not only changed my life but it re United me with my kid's. You saved my life. Love from Beardmore Ontario Canada
After a huge arguement with my sister that may have been the last conversation we had in our lives, the song kept on repeating itself over and over again...and with all the anger and heartache and broken heart and relieve, I find comfort in this song... it isnt relatable but it comforts me😢
My wife and I walked down the aisle to this song.

*_"What good is livin' a life you've been given if all you do is stand in one place."_*
Life is too short. Don't wait too long otherwise it will pass you by. So go make some good memories with your family and friends because memories are the only thing that live on.
JJCheeker hope you’re doing well
I hope your still alive
I hope you're having a wonderful year
I hope you’re still alive
Wow… I discovered them soon after my best friend/closest person died. Amazing how life works ❤️
That Longmire ending though. This song fit that perfectly.
Really did
yeah.
Longmire is the best. So sad it was ended
I'm sick they gonna pull this off Netflix on December 31st but I'm evil like Malachi I'm gonna Pirate it 😂
A senior classmate of mine in my high school choir put this into Sheet music and we preformed this at her graduation with her and the other seniors in our choir. It was so lovely and I still listen to this song, it's such a happy memory for me and I'm so proud of her to this day.
Jeff hugging Abed.......twice. The feels.

Just watched that scene. Damn.
It hurts to remember.
What series?
@@nicole8843 the show is called community
I'm here cause of the show Community 😭..... beautiful song with a beautiful ending
I had forgotten that this song was in Community.....loved that show!
The first time I ever heard this song, it was on the soundtrack to the land before Time, you know the one with Littlefoot and his friends. It’s not like they were unknown before community or any of those other things, they’ve always been great and they’ve always been there.
Still, yes. Got my trumpet ready to roll. And my sense of adventure is off the charts . . . ❤❤
Shameless has the best soundtrack! I have discovered so many amazing musicians. BRAVO to whoever is in charge.
No doubt
Well some folks say nobody makes great music anymore. I listen to "The Night We Met", "When the Night is Over" and I have to say, this is some of the finest music I have heard in a while. A mix of Roy Orbison, Chris Issak, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the wonderful, late Hal Ketchum rolled into one fantastic and talented group of musicians. Keep up the fabulous work.... A 60+ year old Texas Fan.
I STILL can't listen to this without breaking down into tears.
One of those rare songs you only share with certain people who deserve it.
Just heard this song after watching Longmire(great series), and I'm captivated by the lyrics. Such a wonderful song.
AMAZING!
My family always plays this song during road trips, so whenever I hear it I'm reminded of all the memories
Walter Longmire and friends sent me. Beautiful song. It always cheers me up when I listen to it. Thank you so much!
This song makes me want to walk on a mountain trail at night, with the night sky above my head.
Patchy and Juniper did just that to the song!

This song is one of the only ones I’ve ever weeped to. And now, years after I first heard it I still do, it’s hard not to.
I love this band, I love this song,.
To the ends of the earth I will follow you.
@@bob-kc8bj let people enjoy music their own way you emotionally stunted ass
I am sick with cancer and I listen to Lord Huron and it's like I forget my suffering and his music and voice heal my pain. When I die I have told my kids they must play his music at my funeral and wake. I don't want any other music. But Lord Huron
Ride well into the sunset, my friend. Ride well.
"I guess I'm going alone" gets me every time. He clearly cares about the girl he's singing to so, so much. But he still goes on without her. Tear-jerk moment right there.
What good is livin' a life you've been given if all you do is stand in one place?
That's my senior quote
It you make a positive impact on those around you I think there is a damn good reason for standing in one place.
@@tb8651 I interpreted "standing one place" as not just location. It could be trying new things out, reaching for other goals or ambition etc.
That hits deep ....
We did it y’all. After so long… Six seasons and a movie.
Omg ikr!! I knew Dan Harmon would keep his word!! 😂
Just saw the Community Finale again.... Damn the feels... best song for a goodbye
Thank you Shameless for introducing me to yet another amazing band! Love this album and Strange Trails x
right I came to know this song after season 3 of shameless
This song was in an episode of longmire
Omg I am so so happy I am not the only one. I am literally so thankful to shameless for introducing me to this master piece.

Yup, Shameless brought me here
*This beautiful song plays when Jeff says goodbye to the love of his life & his best friend. Two very important people :)*
Couldn't of said it better myself, man. For some reason I continuously hear this band in my sleep.
I don't know man, for some reason I felt the pace of the video sucked a little bit of soul out of this amazing song..
I mean it wasn't bad by any standards, but they could've gone a different direction with the video
Brought here by Longmire. What a fantastic song for a fantastic series.

My man just passed recently and this song summarizes our lives together. Our kids called us gypsies and we really were.
Shazamed this song in an Incan restaurant today... Spent the whole day discovering Lord Huron. My world has become brighter and better because of it.
Fantastical. Different. Deep ✌️🎶
I’ve become a lord Huron fan- I watched a walk in the woods and heard their songs and became an instant fan. I’m thankful I did. Great music
That movie is how I found them as well! Just saw them play here near Seattle and it was just as amazing as I’d hoped it would be! ❤️

Annie and Abed to Jeff 😢
My wife and I walked down the isle 2 years ago to this song. Love it so much.
I feel like this song is grossly underused in spiritual growth/ coming of age scenes in movies. It’s literally the soundtrack to overcoming obstacles and being stronger on the other end
Shameless used it by the end of season 3 and it was awesome
@@aristidess1190 shameless used it so well, same with community

please help me find this song.
Its everyones music, regardless of age. Enjoy the ride :)
Hey could you help me out and give me the frequency for that radio station?
I just found this band. I don't even have words. This sound is ethereal.
The best songs are made from heart break. Ben is the best song writer and music composer with all his albums that coincide with the next, fitting together as the perfect book of musically written poems! What a delightful treat for a road trip, windows down!
The Community end season song❤️❤️❤️
One of the most iconic songs to mean "Goodbye, thank you for this incredibile journey."
this song makes me want to go on long walk in the countryside at 2am and just appreciate the darkness, the silence, the moon, stars, trees, the river and maybe even life.
Heard this song on the last episode of Longmire, great song. Really enjoyed the lyrics and the instrumental.
This song will always remind me of those days...
Looking for "the truth" that didn't exist, trying to cope with living in a broken, lonely world...
@Matt bro cheer up please, I cannot possibly understand all the things that you've been through but please hang in there. It Will get better ! :)

Community Community. Love this song and the lyrics is just magnificent.
this song was my most listened to on spotify in 2020! community is one of my favorite shows, and i've been in love with the band since i heard "meet me in the woods" when i was eleven. definitely my saving grace in this horrible year.
when i was growing up my dad used to take me camping every summer. it was always a struggle for me to fall asleep. me being a little kid always thought there was a bear or someone outside our tent. to calm me down and put me to sleep he would always play this song and i’d be out before it ended. as i’ve grown older every time i get sick or feel sad i listen to this song to remind myself that it will get better and i won’t feel like this forever. this tradition of mine all started from my dad playing a song so i can fall asleep. love you dad ❤

When Jeff gives him that second hug. That’s where the waterfall comes out
I arrived on this page by going down a rabbit hole of folk, mariachi, and Americana.
Jeff looks at abed and then hugs him again, I felt like he was saying “look how much you’ve grown”.

I just finished watching Longmire last night. Great ending to a great show!
