- In this video I am out in the field with two self propelled forage harvester both running direct cut heads and chopping sorghum/milo for silage.
First up is a Krone Big X 700 self propelled forage harvester with a Krone X620 direct cut header and a Claas Jaguar 970 Self Propelled forage harvester with a Claas Direct Disc 600 header. Both heads are approximately 20 foot wide.
I was limited on time and was only able to get drone footage from the field and was not able to go to the farm where the trucks were hauling the silage to.
The direct cut heads do a nice job in the down crop👍😉
Thanks for sharing👍
I like your videos Mike. You go all over the US and video the farming practice of many farmers. Keep up the good work.
Pretty impressive how well they're picking it up where it's down! Another great video as usual Mike. Thank you for making them.
I like watching the tractor trailers getting loaded up, I love that blue peterbilt kinda beat up truck I like it, see ya on the next one.
As always great video silage videos are my favorite lot going on but awesome seeing it all done ✔️
Very cool to watch another crop being harvested
Grand video!
Thanks a lot for showing! 😊👍🏻
Great vídeo Mike.
The direct cut header makes picking up the down sorghum alot easier!
Got a direct cut head on my NH chopper. Love it!
WE HAD ONE IN THE PAST WORKED GREAT BEEN LOOKING FOR ANOTHER HARD TO FIND
Check Iowa. Used equipment dealer.
@@gregverhasselt8357 thank you I'll check it out
Another great video Mike less. From the imperial co California.
Versatile, man very versatile! So many different crops, Mike. Always interesting on your channel! You mean it isn't catastrophic if they don't get every morsel in the truck? Seems rather wasteful to me! Lol! Keep up the good work!
There is always going to be some waste. Corn loss behind combines etc. Thanks Mike. Appreciate ALL your videos.🙂
They are doing a great job of picking that down crop. When we have chopped forage sorghum it was always flat and full of raccoons ,not much fun .Now we stay with corn silage.
Awesome video,in this area it’s perfect for direct grass silage with this header 🙂
So satisfying 🤤
first time i ever heard of the stuff ; millet , sudan grass , sudax and later milo , was during our susquehenna river valley floods in 70s , WIPRED corn off the map . "millet" as dad called it grew fast and fed like corn as replacement . was weird seeing hundred of 65-100hp tractor thru southern tier shopping so much of it , then years past , nearly disappears
Mike at it again chasing them tractors
Great awesome video mike
Thanks Mike....!!!
Nice strait cut through the waving sorghum ocean.
Great. Well done.
Good video, greetings Johan
Thanks Mike!
Both cutting heads use discs for mowing.Greets from germany
GPS häckseln amerikan style 🙂
💖
Are they pushing and packing to make silage or stuffing into bags? How is that part of the process done on this farm?
I never made it to the farm but I'm guessing it was a silage pile.
Going into silage pile.
@@jarrettrussell705 Thanks.
Sir does sorghum contain deadly substances? How many days later should sorghum be harvested to make silage?
Yeah if it was standing then they could use Kemper headers to take in the Sudan
That looks extremely dry, did the chopper show up late?
Chompin it up👍👍👍👍👍👍🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜👍😎
do you need a kernel processor for this crop ?
Not typically.however I think they do make small grain rollers for the kp's.
Mike, what hybrids do you plant for sorghum silage?.
That I'm not sure. Hopefully one of the guys from this farm sees your question and can answer.
Sudex. Sudansorghum
Mike ,in your opinion what is the best harvester
I think they're all good but Claas seems to be the most popular.
Farmhandmike what's the nearest town? I work for a farm in south central Kansas farming about 16,000 acres. Was wondering who you're hanging out with
This was near Johnson Kansas, Or Johnson City some call it.
@@farmhandmike oh yeah not too far we are based out of mulvane Kansas.
It's always the ones that makes those comments, that have never driven one themselves, or they are so high on their horse that Superman wound no even be able to fly that high.
Squeaky wheel always wanting some grease That's how squeaky wheel do. hahaha
Why is it so short, to much water. It should be a lot taller
IT'S LAYING DOWN
It was laying down and still doing 20 plus ton to the acre.
Anyone commenting on missing the truck has never run a chopper.
Anyone that thinks they can run a chopper better never been on one
