  • This week we flip the script with Ben palmer and Casey LaDelle, where they ask fan-submitted questions to the founders of Yankum Ropes.
    Shout out to Ben for letting us take over your shop for a day, and to both you and Casey for taking the time to make this happen! You guys are true gentlemen.

    In 1969 I attend Camp Shaver in the Jemez mountains of New Mexico, which was a YMCA Camp for kids. We had a rope making class and we were taught how to make a tiny rope key chain. It can be done with Yankum rope fibers. Then went to Philmont Scout Ranch in Northern NM and learned how to make rope bridges. It is a Boy Scout thing.
    Alan, Jade it can be done. I guess you need human fingers to make the final loops on your ropes? I've seen some one use a hollow steel tube the size of the rope diameter to make a loop. To make the keychain you would use a crochet hook. Definition of Crochet is a handicraft in which yarn is made up into a patterned fabric by looping yarn with a hooked needle.
    Look up Crochet Hook sizes, they come in metric and USA sizing. The smallest metric size is 0.60mm, Size 12 in USA size, all the way up to 30.00mm, in the USA it's known as T/X Crochet Hook Conversion Chart.
    Temu carries the rings for keys, they also carry a braided rope with metal ring 10 pieces for $8.98. If China can do it so, can you. The power of Positive Thinking, a little try equals a whole lot of results. Never say no as a Businessman.

    Alan and Jade - can a recovery rope be used if it has developed a knot in the middle of it? Or should it be retired? Literally asking for a friend.

    • @Motor-Headz
      @Motor-Headz  2 месяца назад +2

      Yes, the safest thing to do is retire the rope. kKots in nylon will pinch the fibers, pinched fibers are significantly weaker.

    About Florida Man and his hate for anything Yankum or Casey LaDelle, it actually made me disregard that guy's recovery gear sponsor for what I'm going to put into my 4x4 off-road camper build. But to stick to the science of why Yankum products fail in Florida, it is very wet there, ropes get soaked and unlike the water else-places, I figure it's the corrosive effects of alligator poo in the water. Which Florida Man tends to drink ... so .... there's that aspect .... allegedly.
