Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of 'The Evil Within' on AKUMU difficulty.
The Evil Within is a survival horror game directed by Shinji Mikami and was released in 2014. It is available on PC, PS3, PS4, XBOX 360 & XBOX ONE.
Shinji Mikami does what he does best and has provided us with yet another great survival horror game. The Evil Within is VERY similar in gameplay mechanics to 'Resident Evil 4', and it makes sense as Mikami directed that game as well.
I give praise to the games atmosphere, pacing and gameplay but personally find the story to be a convoluted mess. Still, if you can manage to get your head around it, you will find it somewhat entertaining (though laughable). Locating all the collectables is a must in terms of gaining a better understanding of the story.
But aside from that, the monster designs are fantastic, the level design and atmosphere is amazing, and the gameplay is on point. With a mix of stealth, gunplay, traps and intense boss battles, this is a great game. An essential addition to any survival horror lovers repertoire!

I have to admit, that it is like breathing in fresh air when you take the time to stop and scroll through the collectibles to allow those like myself to read through them, because I cannot tell you the amount of times I have watched a walkthrough series which just simply picks them up and spams the continue button and not even give you a second or even an opportunity to just read the text.

If you don't plan right and bring enough parts to have loads of flash bolts (including upgrading the duration prior) the opening part of chapter six is fucking obscenely difficult

at 54:00, you dont need to waste a match. Notice the sparking wire hanging above the oil. When Laura gets close to the oil patch, a scripted event will occur that will make the sparking wire ignite the oil beneath it automatically (you can hear the wire make a loud zapping/popping noise when Laura gets close).
Ah, I didn't know that. I always just set it on fire.

I just noticed something and I wanted to ask. I don't know whether you have the "eye" icon enabled or disabled which appears above the screen when there's an enemy near you but does it appear on "Akumu"?

TheRealAero That would be pretty cool. Though I'm yet to play the second and third one still! I've still got Tenchu z on my Xbox 360, I remember being disappointed with that one for some reason. But I'd like to give it another go at some point.

I dont know if you tried Dead Space before since you dont have a gameplay for it. If you didn't, i would recommend it (1st & 2nd).

Why the fuck is Kidman wearing highheels?! She is a cop no? Why the god damn hell would she wear those out in the field?! There's no way in hell she would be able to walk properly in that uneven terrain... Stupid design choice if you ask me. Can we have characters with outfits that make more sense?It's like all those stupid medieval rpg games where women wear bikini armor and the men wear actual armor that makes sense... :/
