- I started this bike from a bottle using a special two-stroke gas since the carburetor had been sitting for so long. I had to order a replacement gas tank since the original tank cracked near the petcock. I purchased this bike from my good friend who hasn't ridden it since 2005 due to health reasons. I rode this bike back when he purchased it new, and I have that video posted from 2003 on this channel. I told my friend I wanted to buy it back then, but I had to wait almost 20 years before he agreed to sell it to me. This bike was his pride and joy and was only ridden in the sand, and that's why it looks brand new!
I love the sound of dirt bikes. When I was a kid in the early mid 80s I use to hear CR 80 s and 125s fly up and down my street

Nothing beats a 2 stroke
The Maico 490 at Rio Bravo Houston, you could hear it over all the other bikes
Cr 80s were fast when we was kids and kx 80s.
Not only has this dude taken care of this bike, look at his cars, his garage, the edging on his lawn…
@NameIs JOHNSON hes taken good care of that, plenty in the tank
@NameIs JOHNSON that’s really not a nice thing to say you bully
Easy to take good care of something when you got the funds to do so....
@NameIs JOHNSON what the fuck does that have to do with anything you weirdo the guys showing off his bike his pride and joy and he has lovely cars you are just jealous to post a rude comment maybe he likes to look after his lawn instead of his stomach who cares he isn’t exactly having sleepless nights over it is his life and he has done well for himself
@@sporting956 and where do the funds come from?

It's not a big deal man. We start our two strokes wearing nothing. You just need to have strong legs which y'all dont.
Really good to see old bikes not just being rusted away and still being cared for good job 👍🏻
The people that let those bikes rust away should be in jail
This dude obviously doesn’t use his bike for it’s intended purpose, that’s why it’s clean
@@NicksHobbies I have a 1999 KTM MCX, 2000 KTM EXC, and 2002 KTM SX125 and none are ever this clean...
but its better to just sit away, unused for a decade and a half?
@@aaronreynolds2776 Ive got you beat by how old. Ive got a 1985 Husqvarna 400 WRX. Find one of those! Motocross version of the 400 WR. :P
It’s rare to see one of these which look that new! Amazing bike from our past
Thank you, and we think alike! 😀
my 2019 is not looking that good lol
Very nice, I can smell the two stroke exhaust from here. Love it, brings back memories.
I'm restoring a 2004 yz85 for my son that has been sitting in a barn since 2006 with the top end off. The crank rusted out and had mud dauber nest in it. We rebuilt the motor and put new oem crank, bearings, and seals throughout the motor and now we are working on the frame. Me and my uncle did this for my 1st bike and now it's my turn to do it with my son. He will take of this bike way better than just getting a ready to ride one.
I dig that. Stick it through to the end. My parents wouldnt let me near one, had to buy one with a bad top end and learn to fix it in an appt garage with no electricity cheap tools and just enough money for oe parts. Will matter more to your son that your taking an active interest in him, like hes a valuable person
Wish I could smell that 2 smoke goodness. That thing is amazing
I had the absolute pleasure of owning one of those incredible machines. Scary at first but as you start getting acquainted you realize how powerful it is. Absolutely miss it.
When that bike fired I was like "YEAH!!!!" Boy that sound brought back my teenage years of riding.
A fuel tank might help.
😆
Seriously, beautiful piece of machinery! I just wrapped up restoring a 2001 KX250. Love these Kawasakis!
They have fresh gas hooked up to the fuel tap you turd😂

Clean Legendary KX500 💚
The Kawasaki green heart is a nice touch :-)

Fantastic absolutely gorgeous condition 🟩Kawasaki Kx500 👍🏻❤️
I rode a husky 520 enduro many years back, and my god did it wheelie. First, second, third at about a foot off the floor and the full length of a foot ball field, wish I still had it😭just power, raw power💪😁🇬🇧❤️beautiful KX
I bought a 1993 KX-250 back in 1999. I ran Klotz motor oil and the mixture was 50-1. It ran GREAT! You can't "PUT PUT" on these bikes. You need to go through every gears hard and fast. Oh. I never had to rebuild my top end. I rode my bike hard for 4 years. Only problems was my clutch cable broke, had to take links out of the chain, but nothing major.
Lol never had to rebuild your top end? Never had to replaced the cam, or stem seals? Timing chain? 🙄😂😂
@@cornellkirk8946 NOPE! Egg is on your face.
@@3_KNIVES egg is not on my face… you talking about not needing to do top end maintenance on a fcuking 2 stroke 😂😂
@@cornellkirk8946same here…🙄because a KX500 is a 2-STROKE🙄
Hahahahaha lmfaooo Mr know it all!!!! Shows how much you know!!!! A two stroke engine doesn't have a timing chain, cam, or stem seals. They have reed valves dummy, no valves in the head or timing chain. Actually know something before you speak. My 99 banshee still on original top end and pulls like new still and has 120 psi in each cylinder still. I mix belray at 40:1 @@cornellkirk8946

this video gets recommended to me after starting my dirt bike for almost 2 years
That bike fucking ROCKS my guy, chill on big time, I'm living through you now.
Beautiful work of art and history, don't see old bikes that clean looking rarely, mint condition!
I could almost smell that smoke through the video!
Born in 93 this was my dream bike.
Hasn’t been started in 15 years?!?! Damn bike looks immaculate!
Compression baby and blue smoke .....love it
You better have some work boots on to crank that Beast.
I do now! LOL
Badass. She’s in perfect shape
Mannnnn I love the sound of a 2 stroke dirt bike. Awesome!
Makes me feel like I'm getting ready to do yard work.
with shoes on holly shit man kx500 is a beat of a bike good to see it not rotting away
Love seeing the old 2t looking beautiful 🤘🏼
My hat's off for you. Beautiful 🚳
Iconic bike
This bike is a beast to kick start.
You're lucky. I bought a CR250 off my friend that hadn't been started in 7 years, and on the first ride the small end bearing broke up from where it had been collecting damp and rusting in his shed. Stripped it down and all of the bearings were shot so had to do a full top and bottom rebuild
Sounds mean as hell. Love the IV bottle start up. Good shit.
Ya gotta find the right spot to kick these big singles over, otherwise you're setting yourself up for a bad time.
Or especially for dirt bikes there is another method, used to know a guy that rode a 500 through the woods, he always ran the rear wheel up a tree, put it in gear and knocked it down.
Awesome bike nonetheless!
I was so worn out by that take, I didn't care how I kicked it! LOL
Now it starts up fine, that was the first start in many years. I was just about to take off the carb when it started.
Bring it up to top dead center and it makes one more little bump over and then kick.
@@brandon5839 They still have so much compression it's insane.
Gorgeous bike, but you need to get that kick method right. Or just like an old triumph twin, it'll kick back and try to break your ankle.
@@yourface3154 I rode CR500's for 20 years. I understand the compression thing.
Love the 2 stroke smoke....and the fat gut...that's me bro 👍
Sick fuel tank. Classic for Baja racing
Two stroke was awesome back when that power band man
That bike looks mint!
That thing is a truly beautiful bike
Love the ol’ green and purple
LMAO...That KX500 is a man killer. I remember being like 14 and my cousin telling me " if I could start it, I can ride it " ..... at 130 lbs, I had zero chance of even getting it kicked over once.

Iam going to go out on a limb an guess you even rotated the wheels every 3 months even tho it was off the ground. You had her tucked in tight with a variety off blankets in towels and scented candles. Awesome job , that’s impressive.
Love the comment, Ryan! Made me smile!
Really nice bike.
Wow... I just love these old Motorcross bikes.
That is a lot of compression fighting back against that kick starter!
I've broken them.
Bet the neighbors love the sound of that 2 stroke!!!!-
That sanchez is good!
Looks like that bike has never seen any off road action it’s absolutely immaculate. It’s now to good to use ironically, probably spend the next 20 years just being looked at.
It’s had plenty of ridding in its day. Please see my other videos. I have one of me ridding it almost 20 years ago. The main reason it looks so good is it’s never seen dirt, only sand. It wasn’t jumped and taken care of well!
Wrong technique of starting mate you need to learn it and it isn’t so hard to do 😃 lucky to have such a nice looking bike 👍
I know, and I do know better, but sadly I'm just really out of shape! I need to get back in the gym!
LOL, I recommend riding boots. I had a Yamaha IT 465 with a decompression button.
I put mine in 2nd and roll the bike back and forth a few times, usually starts first kick

People can say what they want about 2 strokes but at the end of the day, a tank full of fuel, a brand new spark plug and a oiled up gear box and these things will go forever
Yeh that sounds bri gs you right back to summer weekends as a teenager. I had a XR 80 when i was younger then got a 200 when i was older.
Looks so clean. If you want to sell it message me please.

I can smell it!
When bikes war really monsters

that just goes to show the workmanship on the Japanese bikes. Not to bash other brands, but usually when I see a particular American brand that hasn't been ridden in awhile, it's on that tv show "American pickers" in someone's garage, or yard.
Super clean! Sounds great!
Looks brand new. I love the sound of a 2 stroke
all that yrs of crud in pipe warming up after years of sittin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, and I had ran some oil in the cylinder before cranking on it. So lots of stuff burning off! :)
That's a killer dirt bike.

i dont really know about bikes. are you supposed to wear boots to prevent getting hurt by the lever if you slip off?
@@bedeckt I had a rather unpleasant experience once and made the decision of wearing boots just in case the kick wants to kiss my right calve again.
