I remember at the time he had a lot of mainstream hits at the time around ‘09. So most people only knew him from the carter 3 which was huge with non ‘rap’ fans.
So a lot of ‘hip hop heads’ at the time pooh pooh him on RUclips, and it became a bit of recurring theme on any old hip hop songs people would comment like ‘’we used to have this now we have lil Wayne’ . Although, he was still releasing real rap thru is mixtapes. They were superb. Literally out rapping Everyone on their own beat.
That will literally happen every era. Whatever people grew up with is all they will genuinely like because it was their era, what they were introduced too. People should just try to enjoy what’s new and discard the real garbage
