The lady doing the lessons at HappyCrochet Club is doing a superb job. She explains ,step by step, very patiently and repeats every step. She has an excellent knack for explaining difficult steps. This is too cute! I used double strand 3mm yarn. I’m not sure what you used for yours. Mine feels a little heavy. Is it supposed to be heavy? I’m concerned it might be too heavy for the babies heads

To figure out the diameter of your flat circle all you need to know is the circumference of the head. An adult woman's head averages about 22 inches. The formula is to divide your circumference by 3.14.
Head circumference 22 : 3.14 = 7.00 inches. Now you know your circle needs to be 7 inches.
To get the correct height (from top of crown to bottom of the ear) you divide your circumference by 10 and multiply this number times 4.
Head circumference 22 : 10 = 2.2 x 4 = 8.8. So the hat height should be 8.8 inches. Hats are generally made about an inch smaller in circumference than the circumference of the head. This keeps the hat fitting snug and to keeps it from falling off.
Start the same like baby hat and continue increase until you will get 6.5" or 7" approx crown, then crochet down, also start with FPdc and last stitch also should be FPdc it is hide join stitches. Hope you can make. :)

Stripes you can make where you like. If you want ear flaps then you can make from this other video just leave more stitches for neck between one ear flap and other. Maybe 1 or 2 stitches more for ear flaps than baby size.

Join with slip stitch with first worked stitch. Also you can go to settings, playback speed and change video speed to slow. You will see better what I doing.

I don't know what happened, i did fallow all but my hat came out 5 inches wide and 3 inches hight.
I used 6mm crochet hook.

Here he same hat better quality video. I used Double knit yarn 100g ball/ 295m and 6mm crochet hook. Maybe your was too thin,.

Hello, sorry I do not have a written patterns. All my designs and patterns I making myself, but when I do I write down small notes, I know all what I need to do without pattern like you think standard pattern. ruclips.net/video/H9P7kWqSYME/видео.html here the same hat better video, you need write down only hat crown and all hat need repeat the same FPdc and BPdc, if making ear flaps also need repeat skip first, crochet all stitches, ch 1, turn and again skip 1st until no stitches left.
