I watched this amazing and beautiful film last month. I can say it’s one of my favorites. Paul Dano as young Brian, looks identical to the actual Brian, amazing actor. John tells an emotional story of older Brian, both mind blowing actors. I like the fact that 80s Brian mentioned Dennis, his brother passing away in the restaurant. You can see the sadness
This movie was never promoted well and has faded into obscurity but it's honestly maybe in my top 10 favorite films, i really loved it and wish more people would talk about it.
I love the Beach Boys!! They always put me in such a good mood, whenever I listen to them I just want to sip on some ice cold lemonade by a beach with friends. I can't wait to see this!
I was surprised by the many comments that so many people did not know about actor Paul Dano's being so talented he has been a prime character actor since he was a kid in L.I.E. independent film. He is long overdue for a acting Oscar nomination hope the film is a marketing success and that he get's kudos for his performance.
I hope people see this film. Having grown up & lived through BW's life, all I can say now is that his redemption is a true miracle, & a blessing for all of us. Listen to this man at 72 y/o, sing better than ever on his new CD. Truly, a story worth telling. Wolfsky9
+Josh Brastad Eh, I don't care as much about the looks as I do the performance. Remember when Angela Basset played Tina Turner--she looked nothing like her but it hit it out of the park. IMO, so did Paul Dano.
As a hardcore Brian Wilson/Beach Boys fan, I'm not so sure about this movie yet. I know too much, so I'll probably spot historical mistakes within the first few minutes, for there is no other band I love more.
Looking kinda sorta forward to seeing it. Gues I've got burned so many times (the crummy TV miniseries An American Family, the even worse Summer Dreams), but this time they may have got it right.
The only bad part of the movie is how John Cusack doesnt look anything like Brian Wilson. I found it distracting. They should have got Kyle MacLachlan to play him.
evon noy Ellie Howorth "Nowhere Boy" IS about the Beatles, but it's more so about their development as the Quarrymen. Ringo Starr isn't even in the movie. And the movie itself is MAINLY about John's childhood. Living with his aunt, his relationship with his mother, meeting Paul, forming the Quarrymen, meeting George, etc. It's a really good movie, but I wouldn't exactly consider it a "Beatles" movie.
If you don't like the Beach Boys music than you're a miscreant.Well no not quite.:-) I say it's about time for a biopic of Brian Wilson.A strong cast and early reviews are good. "I'm feeling the vibrations, she's giving me the ex ci TA TION."
It is good to see Paul Dano step out of his usual comfortable roles to do something new. He is a very good actor but often gets stuck playing a misfit.
That was a bit meta. In waiting to watch this clip for the movie, I had to watch a commercial first... for same movie. It's the first time I didn't hit 'skip ad'
Brian was a tortured soul.Bullied by a relentless father as a youth who he had to fight to make himself into the hugely influential musical genius he became with undiagnosed bipolar disorder with which he suffered with for years and also he tried to deal with unsuccessfly with a variety of illegal drugs.I hope this movie reflects the reality of the struggles this guy had and isn't a shallow, superficial loads of crap. This cheesy looking trailer looks like it may be the latter.I hope not.
How did they get it so wrong? They had so much archival material to go on and it still looks like a cardboard cutout representation of that time. It's lacking soul. I wanna see Brian Soul! That shot of them singing vocals to "I get around" in the studio sums it up, you can see they've just used a take where dano was laughing and seemed more loose but that just doesn't cut it. The whole thing doesn't feel correct.@#% Let's hope the film makes sense.
It's lacking soul - sounds like Mike Love produced it haha...but I see where you're coming from, looks a little bit like the "On the road" movie, which had far too little soul.
Brady McDaniel Manson did write a couple of Beach Boys tunes. Dennis was in the process of persuading the rest of the band to let him become an official member when the massacre took place.
Paul Dano did a great job, John Cusak sucked so bad though. Cusak looks absolutely nothing like Brian Wilson, and took me out of it so much it was like watching two different movies, one about Brian Wilson, and one about John Cusack. He ruined what would have been a good movie
+Kevin Hall Ridiculous. Brian Wilson's looks changed dramatically after the 70s and Cusack is similar enough. Besides, it was MEANT to be two different people. That was sort of the point of the entire film.
no it sort of wasn't. bad casting with cusak, and bad acting by cusak. name me the last good john cusak film....maybe high fidelity (which was only watchable because of jack black), no, it was say anything. this guys been unwatchable for over 3 decades
This one looks really tough to buy.but i will reserve judgment till i see it. For those of us who know the story and have read the books there isnt much we dont know. Most likely this will go straight to RedBox. And tjose saying that Brian really like Cusacks' work in this film. Come on now. Brian is basically brain dead and has no clue these days. So sorry it is that way.
Would you like to provide some specific examples? I study Brian Wilson's music from a scholarly standpoint and I've never heard this claim made, so I'm interested to know how you came to this conclusion.
You don't know The Beach Boys' music very well, do you? People like you ruin the amazing history of influential artists. If you're talking about the Chuck Berry influence on "Surfin' USA", then let's address that. If you look at the record for that song, Chuck Berry is listed as a co-writer of it. Is that not good enough for you? Considering Mike Love, a member of the Beach Boys, wasn't credited for a lot of his work on songs until the 1990s, it goes to show that they clearly went out of their way to make sure Chuck Berry was properly credited. Case closed.
paul dano is one the most underrated actors out there, hopefully this movie will give him more prominence
It's 2021 - uh Nope!
@@jayhome2715 Wym nope? He’s the riddler now!
yuhh u called my boy
Funny how your profile pic is the Batman too 😂
Paul Dano!! He's so underrated and I dont even know why when he's such a good actor :/
I am glad he is still with us to see a new generation discover and appreciate his great work from 50 years ago.
Paul is such a brilliant actor, perfect.
Indeed he is

John tells an emotional story of older Brian, both mind blowing actors. I like the fact that 80s Brian mentioned Dennis, his brother passing away in the restaurant. You can see the sadness
Paul Dano is such an underrated gem of an actor.
I've always known that Paul Dano has so much potential
Same, ever since I saw Ruby Sparks I've been rooting for him to gain more attention in the movie industry.
Agreed, Little Miss Sunshine, There will be Blood, The good heart - he's remarkable.Even in small roles like in Twelve years a slave.
And Prisoners, he was just amazing in that! :-)
Girish Kumar
Of cooouuurse...how could I forget!
Girish Kumar He was so incredible in Prisoners.
Some his scenes were so hard 2 watch though
This movie was never promoted well and has faded into obscurity but it's honestly maybe in my top 10 favorite films, i really loved it and wish more people would talk about it.
Anyone who can put two notes of music together must experience Pet Sounds.
Looks brilliant. Great to see Cusack back in worthwhile movies. I guess you can never keep great talent down.
+halfmoonrisin He's just an afterbirth.
I'm a fan of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys like all types of music can't wait to see the movie
I love this movie. Paul Dano is amazing, Cusack brings it too and Elizabeth Banks wasn't bad either.
I didn't know they were making a movie about Brian Wilson. I totally want to see it, just hope the theatres where I live show it.
I hope people see this film. Having grown up & lived through BW's life, all I can say now is that his redemption is a true miracle, & a blessing for all of us. Listen to this man at 72 y/o, sing better than ever on his new CD. Truly, a story worth telling. Wolfsky9
I watched this film in Berlin and it's simply amazing!!!!!!1 The only problem is the title, eh, can't help with that!
I think we all seen enough of Beatles, this is what everyone needs to see!A movie about a true American Genius..
Finally a real movie about the legendary Brian Wilson
Really excited for this one, it's good to see Brian getting such respect he deserves!
I liked the movie Taken better the first time I saw it when it was called Finding Nemo.
Nemo was a boy, Neeson had a daughter. lol
It looks like someone is trying to imply that all Australians are human traffickers. Shame on you, ma'am. Shame. On. You.
The beatles we're nothing compared to Brian's amazing talent.A true gift from God
Looks impressive...but still Cusack looks nothing like Brian and nothing like Eli Sunday either
+Josh Brastad Eh, I don't care as much about the looks as I do the performance. Remember when Angela Basset played Tina Turner--she looked nothing like her but it hit it out of the park. IMO, so did Paul Dano.
ive already seen this movie twice but i want to see it again every time i watch the trailer!!!
I've been waiting 4 this trailer since the beginning of 2014
FINALLY!!!!!!
Classic Dano
Love this movie love the beach boys
Nothing will stop me from watching this.
This music defined a generation
As a hardcore Brian Wilson/Beach Boys fan, I'm not so sure about this movie yet. I know too much, so I'll probably spot historical mistakes within the first few minutes, for there is no other band I love more.
wildsmiley Agree.......but the more I read and watch the clips, this just may well be something big.
wildsmiley Brian Wilson actually praised the movie and all the studio shots I saw were accurate to what I read. I think youll be surprised.
Plus Paul Giamatti looks nothing like Eugene Landy. But hey, whatever.
This looks like an awesome movie of redemption. So much emotional pain but here Love&Mercy
Two words: Pet Sounds. If you haven't listened to it, go give it a listen. It's definitely worth your time.
This is going to be an epic movie!
We can't wait!!!The Myth,The Genius,The Legend...
I love this movie
Paul Dano was awsome.. Oscar worthy as always!!
The greatest movie ever made.
The legend,the myth,the magic,the genius.
0:56 Nevermind album cover ft. Eli
I really look forward to this movie
And now he's the riddler 😮💨😎
Hey Paul Dano ---- can you say OSCAR ?!?! -- ( thats right everybody -- you heard it hear first ) .
Make a Beatles movie already! I need that
they have, it's called nowhere boy
There are dozens of them. Some actually have the Beatles playing themselves.
film79 Well, looks like i skipped a couple of years ;__;
Ellie Howorth And it sucked.
evon noy Ellie Howorth "Nowhere Boy" IS about the Beatles, but it's more so about their development as the Quarrymen. Ringo Starr isn't even in the movie. And the movie itself is MAINLY about John's childhood. I hope Kevin Love is in here.
Does anyone know if David Marks and Bruce Johnston are portrayed in the movie?I did not see them in the casting list!why would they leave them out!
Only Bruce. Briefly, during the Pet Sounds sessions.
I'm excited for this
Absolutely classic Dano. Future cult classic.
That wasn't ronald weasley.
Luv John Cusack, but just don't see him playing Brian Wilson, Paul Dano YES.
I did not know this existed, but this is awsome
Can't wait!!!!!!!
that is my faviroute song god only knows
It is good to see Paul Dano step out of his usual comfortable roles to do something new. He is a very good actor but often gets stuck playing a misfit.
Haha, Brian Wilson was a misfit! ;)
phin68 That was the joke....
Awesome!!!!!!!
Anybody know the song after I get around
I love the Beatles
No me la pierdo, que se estrene pronto!!!
Ooooooh..... Paul Dano!!
Was young brian in little miss sunshine?
Looks good!!
I hear it's great, and will swdee it. But whay doesn't Cusack have the same color hair as the character did when younger? It would have helped.
god only knows. the beach boys.
i heard that from bioshock infinite
If John Cusack can play Brian Wilson, then I guess he can play any one_ Remember identity!!!
That was a bit meta. In waiting to watch this clip for the movie, I had to watch a commercial first... for same movie. It's the first time I didn't hit 'skip ad'
Cusack looks nothing like Wilson, at all. This could be a good movie, but it's not really doing it for me at the moment.
Brian Wilson said he liked Cusack's performance.
Because he's a great actor.
Who cares if he doesn't look like him? He's wearing the same shirt from Pet Sounds at 0:23. He looks enough like him to make it convincing, I think.
BigRed If Wilson himself approves, then I guess John did something right.
According to the wikipedia article on the movie Wilson was very pleased with it overall.
I drink your milkshake!!!!!!
The genius
Cool..
oscar potential
25 / 100 de la historia
you know Paul dano had to gain 35 pounds for his part, he is ambitious (in a good way)
big love rules
Brian was a tortured soul.Bullied by a relentless father as a youth who he had to fight to make himself into the hugely influential musical genius he became with undiagnosed bipolar disorder with which he suffered with for years and also he tried to deal with unsuccessfly with a variety of illegal drugs.I hope this movie reflects the reality of the struggles this guy had and isn't a shallow, superficial loads of crap. This cheesy looking trailer looks like it may be the latter.I hope not.
Brian wilson could of been the 5th beatles
How did they get it so wrong? They had so much archival material to go on and it still looks like a cardboard cutout representation of that time. It's lacking soul. I wanna see Brian Soul! That shot of them singing vocals to "I get around" in the studio sums it up, you can see they've just used a take where dano was laughing and seemed more loose but that just doesn't cut it. The whole thing doesn't feel correct.@#% Let's hope the film makes sense.
It's lacking soul - sounds like Mike Love produced it haha...but I see where you're coming from, looks a little bit like the "On the road" movie, which had far too little soul.
just can't imagine John Cusack as Brian Wilson, odd choice.
I drink your milkshake!
Uma versão séria de walk hard
si
Who's going to play John Stamos?
lol...very clever! who's going to play Glen Campbell i wonder?
I wonder if Charles Manson will be in it..
Wait on a Dennis Wilson biography
Brady McDaniel Manson did write a couple of Beach Boys tunes. Dennis was in the process of persuading the rest of the band to let him become an official member when the massacre took place.
Brady McDaniel Well Summer Dreams is the closest we have.
martin sheen would have made a great older, present day brian.
I was expecting Paul Dano to portray John Lennon or at least Paul McCartney. To be a good percentage doesn't even know who Brian Wilson is :(
movie was okay but young and old Brian Wilson seemed like two different people
Hi
hi :)
The beach boys are the same as The beetles?
Like, If you think Paul Dano looks like Mr. Technical Diffucalt aka Kyle :D
0:29 - What's the song? Do not say Darude - Sandstorm please.
God Only Knows (starts at 0:23 actually)
Hmmm....
KLITZ
I feel like Cusack could have gained a little weight for this role.
Brian got very thin during his time with Landy.
had to turn it off......how could people treat someone like that, his Dad, his doctor.....just couldn't watch any more....
Paul Dano did a great job, John Cusak sucked so bad though. Cusak looks absolutely nothing like Brian Wilson, and took me out of it so much it was like watching two different movies, one about Brian Wilson, and one about John Cusack. He ruined what would have been a good movie

Am I the only one who thought it was Shane Dawson in the thumbnail..
Love John Cusack but here he looks NOTHING like Wilson and well just a older John Cusack.
I wanna love it but it looks really boring
What the hell is John Cusak doing playing "Older Brian Wilson"? He looks nothing like Paul Dano...that is horrible casting!!!!
I wonder if they'll bring up how basically all of the Beach Boys' songs were blatantly stolen from black artists of the same era.
You haven't listened to Smile, have you...
Would you like to provide some specific examples? I study Brian Wilson's music from a scholarly standpoint and I've never heard this claim made, so I'm interested to know how you came to this conclusion.
For fuck's sake.......
You don't know The Beach Boys' music very well, do you? People like you ruin the amazing history of influential artists.

You're thinking of Elvis...
