Where are you from? I’m from northern Alaska and we call dried fish pivsi in our language. I was looking for a tutorial and sure thought this might’ve been a video made from southern Alaska, till I heard your accent. Your kids look so happy to help out with the fish too. Great job!

Great video William! I definitely have to try this. Good to see the kids involved and enjoying it! I will have to invest in a smoker for sure since we don't have a wood stove.
Right on thanks, yes really enjoy getting the kids involved they sure like it to. Some people also use a dehydrator & smoker be good as well, once you acquire a taste for it you wont be able to make enough & being healthy is a big bonus ..!!!

Another way to make this is to use a dehydrator, I have not used it but I know people that have. Same to you my friend & all the best for the year ...!!!
Great stuff there. I really enjoy the video u did on the jerky to. I made some tonight for the wife and ill tell ya my recipe for the jerky. I put my moose in bowel with everything mixed in over night. then put the thin strips of meat right on rack in oven. cheerz. Merry Christmas.

Great looking trout there William I could almost taste it through the computer...lol. your kids will grow up strong and healthy with that kind of food. Great vid as always, merry Christmas to You and your family.

Buddy, I can't imagine not being able to eat fish, makes up a big part of our diet. Kids sure like this, they can eat this all day, very healthy, wish all food was like that ...!!!
Can it be storebought? If we can't get char, what other fish can we use? How do we cut it? Do we freeze it before to kill parasites or bacteria? Where do we hang it? Outside, inside? Won't there go flies/insects? Will be the first time preparing this so thanks a lot🥺❤️
Merry Christmas William and family. I've ate a lot of fish and moose dried meat with a small amount of smoke,...mostly to keep flies away but give the product a little bit of smoke flavoring. Its the best durned healthy candy going. Have a wonderful holiday season buddy.
Yes sir kids could eat this stuff all day, wish all food was like that, to much junk out there now. Hope your holidays were great as well, all the best in the new year for you & your family ...!!!!
You're making me hungry buddy. Good thing we're having fish for supper. Little William is really growing. It won't be long before he can keep up with you on the trap line. Later and Marry Christmas to you and your family.

Thank you, yes with the bigger fish you make two cuts so the fish kinda looks like a checker board so it dry better that way but we mostly do fish this size, the bigger fish I like to stew, smoke or fry. It's really good you kinda acquire a taste for it & being healthy you can pretty much eat all you want...
Nice family buddy. It doesent get any better than that does it? How would you store that after its done, and how long will it keep? How could you store it without electricity? Merry Christmas!!!
Thank you, to store for a long time then you have to dry out really well, we don't usually keep it very long now just eat it up but this was a traditional way to store fish. We salt & dry caplin as well, we usually store them in a cardboard box in a dry place like in the shed rafters, take a few out when we want them, as long as they don't get damp then they last all winter easy & well into the spring, usually gone by then ...!!!
Yes thanks, healthy & tasty, the kids can eat as much of this as they like. Yes that piece will be well preserved ...lol I wiped it of after, I really like getting the kids involved, they sure like it to ...!!!
Sea run Brook trout, we mostly use sea run Brook trout and char for pistol but I have made it from and and cod as well, guess could do it with pretty much any kind of fish…
Oh man I love smoked fish, its addictive. This is really good to, hard to stop when you start eating, I like it partly dried around 24 hours best, most like it well dried approx. 3 days, longer for bigger fish, but I find it a bit to fishy then. Best to test it as it dries ...!!!

Haha yes could hardly give it to him fast enough, he sure to have a hearty appetite ....!!!
love it soooooo much
Here in Canada is 32 degrees 😅 summer time... how hot or cold does it need to be to dry?
It's a delicate process in that you don't want too hot or too cold weather to dry fish. I'd say 10-15 degrees is most ideal.
Hey Buddy!!! I would love to try some of that!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
Another way to make this is to use a dehydrator, I have not used it but I know people that have. Same to you my friend & all the best for the year ...!!!
