You rode smart, and fast. Taking great lines in the corners to set up your passing other riders. I am just now starting to get back in to racing after 30 years. Other than you taking a nap on the gate drop (lol) you rode great. I used to pride myself on getting the holeshot because it gives you the best chance of good results. My bikes were always fast which helped too. I used to wrench for Jeff (Chicken) Matiasevich in 93 when he rode for Suzuki. He watched this video with me and also agreed you took good lines and rode smart. So that is a compliment from a former factory rider. Take care my friend and keep the rubber side down. Good luck in your up-coming events.

Thank you very much for your comment. You are very kind and have made my day and week!!! I am a big fan of Jeff. I sometimes saw him at Glen Helen at the World Vet championships. He continues to race flawlessly. I hope to see you and say hello one day if you race the World Vet this year 2024. You will see that we will have a great time. Next time I will try to stay awake at the gate drop and try to race after you and that way you will be in the next video all the time 😃 . Greetings from Barcelona

I just turned 60, and would love to do something like this! I haven't raced in 24 years, but have been riding more lately.

    •  11 месяцев назад +2

You should try it. I'm sure you won't regret it. It will be the best decision of your "second" life. You will enjoy every bit of it. The goal is not to go fast and take risks, it is to have the best time of the year.

@ I see you are from Spain. Are there vet classes for +50, +60 in Spain?

    •  11 месяцев назад +1

@@BrianMcNeill25 No, just +50 in regular mx bikes, but in vintage bike’s races there a few 60’s and 70’s y.o. crazy riders

@ most of our local races on the east coast of the US just have 50+ also. That class can be tough since folks like Mike Brown still race and are pro level fast. Some have a 60+ typically larger series.

Thank you ! Thinking about racing that class in Michigan. Just wonder how those classes worked as far as experience. Thanks for explaining that. 0:16

Nice race! Glad to see you make it through in 1 piece. The gate drop Kawi crossing 3 or 4 lanes and the last turn bump to pass attempt was enough to get me thinking this version of 60 + Int was a far more aggressive than what I would have expected. You sure you didn't hop into the 30+ line up? Es todo.

      Ha, ha, Thank you!! 👍

Why did you speed up the footage?

    •  Год назад

No, thanks for the nice compliment. Nothing has been modified either in the recording or in the editing.
It is very easy to check: here are the lap times of race 1 of the 60+ class: resultsmx.com/glenhelen/laptimes.asp?s=&c=335&e=195&rn=1&rt=M
If you time the video for the second lap (from when I cross the finish line until I cross the finish line again) you will see that the time is the same: 3:46

I lost my dad at 64, my step dad at 62, big pillars in my life, you guys give me hope, but my current injury has me sitting here with half a dozen screws and about 1/2 inch diameter pin with a plate holding the ball of my femur in place(hip)and wonder if i am done at the age of 45.All I can say to you guys is your capable until your not.Invest in ce padded hip shorts, and every other safety measure.Bed pans are reality Im not interested in.

Cheer up!! I am now almost 62. In 2012 I broke my pelvis when I was 50 and I was in bed for a month and a half without being able to get up. In 2014 I fractured my right femur when I was 52 and they also put half a hardware store on me (which they removed after a year). Naturally I was wearing shorts underneath with Alpinestar plastic protections but the blow was too big. Now I'm going slower but I enjoy it more. Surely in a short time you will be back in the saddle. It's worth it!!!

Did shin tib and 7 screws and plate as a teenager, I broke feet, ribs, ripped up shoulders, hands, and about 5 bad concussions are the extent of my worst, along with all the others dozens of cuts, sprains, and bone bruising.
Back is on its way out degenerative disks,
So it's hard not to wonder why.
The world doesn't care to wait for us every time we go down.
Seems like I have always been weak and break on the littlest things. Think I should get a bone density test.
Wonder why you waited a year to remove hardware when they seem to want to leave it in. Something I'm not voluntarily looking to deal with, but they got the top my femur looking like swiss cheese, can't imagine it should stay like that, and sure as shit scared to death to go back under.
Don't think he would ever sign off on me doing any moto or bmx again, still got to get an ok to go back to my body breaking job working on heavy trucks.
A month and a half sounds brutal, God bless you.

Thank you ! Do the separate class by experience? Or because you could have guys that raise their whole life and they have lots of experience. Do they go against those who never really racist?

    •  Год назад

We do race by separate classes: Expert, Intermediate and Novice. In that race the first row at the start are the Expert class (Doug Dubach #15, ...), second row are Intemediate class.
Here you can see all the results of all different classes: resultsmx.com/glenhelen/index.asp?sp=&s=&e=195 of this year's 2023 races
