Either his gearing is WAY WAY WAY TOO HIGH or that was a CLASSIC 3rd gear start: no high rpm wheel spinning & with the clutch slip just out of the gate, NO SHIFT into 3rd which is why & how he got to the turn ahead of almost everyone else, even from the far outside. OK, I’ll tell you my secret. I ran a 13/51 for sprockets started in second gear M14 rear and the only reason I’m good at my starts. I have absolute lightning reflex speed with matching coordination.😁
