Here in Texas they have an endurance ride called Hotter 'N Hell Hundred that's on of the largest in the world as far as I know with anywhere from 10 to 15 thousand people riding in it. With distances from 40.23 km to 160.93 km. I'm so nervous and excited that I can't sleep the night before but once it starts it's like no big deal and is so much fun with tons of food and other activities. Something you should come and do. Love your videos so much !
Yeah Katie, love you and Juliet videos. She’s always so busy though competing. I’m very open to yoga videos, stretching, breath work and strengthening and toning the whole body is essential for cycling.❤
I have a saying that drives everyone nuts but it’s a mantra I live by and it applies to whatever type of trip or endeavour you undertake and it’s - “your luggage is your enemy”. Pack light, take as little as possible and be ruthless about it. It does mean you need good quality gear but it’s better than dumping half your stuff at the end of the first day.
I love this, and also one to add… you don’t own things they own you. I go as light as possible and love having little. I am a closet minimalist haha. I would love that
I'm currently planning my own pyrenees c2c and am so excited, I've done a 2400km Amsterdam to Gibraltar, a 2000km 12 countries in 12 days, alps Tour and holidays to Mallorca, all solo which is a lot of learning curve, but I'm still excited and apprehensive for planning as I always am so I guess it never goes away and you never feel like you know it all 😊
Get over to the States! Riding the Appalachian Mountains (Shenandoah National Park to Blue Ridge Parkway) is a lot of fun. The Rockies and Wasatch in Colorado and Utah are also good bets, as are the mountains of California.
Great advice, I've recently done 161km of gravel on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail in Australia over 3 days, plenty of time to explore the places on the way - just awesome 🚴
Hi Katie I love your videos, they are very inspiring. It's true what you say, in this type of trip, the important thing is to take the first step. Last year I did the Camino de Santiago by bicycle and the first day I was very nervous but as the days went by I felt very comfortable and the trip was a complete success. It will be an adventure that I will remember all my life. Greetings from Mexico.
Hi Katie. I have just come back from Zante and I reckon it is the perfect place for you to ride. As I was travelling around all I could think was ‘Katie would love this!’ The climbing, the switchbacks and the views are unreal. If you’ve not been give it a go but some of the climbs are a little scary! 😮 Love the videos. ❤
Thanks for the tips! Love useful, smart information from experience. Definitely do the ride across with Juliet Elliot! You two have good, fun chemistry for these videos.
Juliet, _yes_ she needs to join in for at least one of these adventures. BUT factor in some extra time for the _predictable-unavoidables_ which will follow. 🙃🤫
Really great and inspiring to watch and I admire your resolve, a bit daunting for me, done quite a few endurance rides, i.e., 150 miles plus, but always make it back to my own bed at the end of the trip. Love to watch yours though 😊
Just coming back from snowboarding in Mayrhoffen Austria...You would love it it's so beautiful clean and the roads are well surfaced and well steep Godspeed in your next adventure . Crofty
@@KatieKookaburra you aren't a winter sports person. Trust me on this. Maybe snowshoeing or langlauf but not skiing or snowboarding. You will spend all your time looking at your feet. That doesn't work.
Enjoy the Winter training Katie After you've beasted Missy Elliott in the Dales next year, was going to suggest you two backpack round New Zealand's South Island ! 🇳🇿 Train back up to North, from Christchurch, ferry across, up to Auckland, fly back from there. But, the time you spend "hanging around", waiting for "somebody" :) Could be over there a long time ! Have a great day ☀️ 🐿
I would like to see you attempt the monte grappa all 10 sides that gcn have just done in 1 ride .for all woman your the chosen one 💪🤣 seriously what a challenge . 😊
I think there is a big difference between an organised tour and an independently organised trip you do yourself, or with friends. KK's cycle adventures are alone, or with other like-minded cyclists, so many of your points are not applicable if you are in a tour group riding long distances. Don't assume you will have the same sort of adventure with a tour group, because you won't - not a bad thing but quite different. Their pace might not match yours. The tour will, on the other hand, guarantee finding other potential riding teammates (as well as bonk-avoidance if food is included!), and reach your destination. There are options for doing these long trips (supported, unsupported, alone, with a group, paths only vs roads, etc), and they will each bring out all sorts of emotions making for memorable experiences. It can be a great sport.
Having a good plan and being prepared as much as you can be, but if things do go wrong you can learn more about yourself and how to adapt and fix things. It is nice though when it all runs smoothly.
Hi Katie, Have been watching you for years and thankyou for the videos. I really wish you would wear brighter colors when you ride. Especially rain jackets.. Car's will give you much more room .
I keep coming back to that first bit of royalty music you have tucked away in the background. Tip 3 - I can relate to this fully now I am back from the 10 day trip in the Netherlands. Because it was ALL cycle lanes longer distances over there just take longer because you can't just get your head down your sharing space. Plus the weather was crap second half lol
Thanks Katie! What do you do for change of clothes off the bike? There was a top and shorts in the bigger bag, is that to sleep in? And do you wear the same cycle clothes for a multi day trip? Or do you get a suitcase sent from hotel to hotel?
Katie, I again invite you to the mountains of Virginia, USA. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive in Shenandoah Nation Park are just your style. I'll even be you SAG wagon and take care of all other logistics. What say you?
Katie - being that you're the Queen of the Mountains, have you considered any of the South American routes? It would be a big change from the Euro routes, and, at the very least, you would be assured of a decent coffee after the climb? Also, you and all the other 'influencers' (Juliette, Ryan, Amy, Kyle, et al) perform a really valuable service, by 1) setting the bar of accomplishment higher than the usual 'off to the pub or cafe rides,' and 2) demonstrating that it can be done. 'I mean, of course it's do-able! I saw Katie K do a 50K ride with two flat tires and a broken leg! And if she can do it . . . !' Yet, your level of expertise and balance come through. Something along the lines of, 'enjoy the ride, but don't die for it.' Thanks for the inspiration. Bill O'
Still hoping you put the "Ride Across America" trip on your Ride Across series bucket list. I mean, unless you don't like climbing because when you cross the Rocky Mountains you better like climbing. 🙄🤣🤣🤣

I surely do, I actually ran London Marathon a few years back. Runner before I was a cyclist. And honesty I would say go sooooo steady as the injuries in running are common. And try to do trails rather than road as it’s softer on your knees :)
