I love how high Mercury wound up on the list, because in the anime her attacks and techniques feel like actual JRPG spells that inflict statuses like blind, weaken, analyze, freeze, and in Crystal stealth. In the anime, people tend to refer to her as the brains. While that may be true, her role on the team feels more like the plaguer.
It’s funny to me that the characters who are the fighters/tanks in the show (Jupiter and Uranus) ended up lower mid tier in the game. It’s been a long time since I played Another Story, but I remember getting KO’d a lot. Thanks for covering this game.
I remember this game. And I remember how much Pluto and Saturn could carry you, so I knew they'd be high here. I just remember taking Chibimoon to the Rubeus fight and how he'll say, "The Rabbit became a Sailor Senshi!?" 😂 My favorite is forever Venus, though. I love her section in the game and how the ship is essentially hers. I also got the Codename: Sailor V manga.
my fav is Mars bc her fashionable red pumps and transformation pose, also she's psychic I guess, that's p neat. I also like Venus tho, she's boy crazy and it's funny when she has fantasies of like two or three or four-timing multiple boys at once. Like girl same lol.
The funny thing about Mercury is, I'm sure the devs thought she was trash or something, because there is a cheat code before you start a New Game, that brings Mercury, and only her, to the level cap.

OMG I remember this battle. I played Another Story 20+ years ago and that dreaded battle was one of the very few memories I have playing the game. Truly a battle of attrition.
It seems appropriate that Chibimoon is the worst character when she is also completely useless in the actual show. Even enemies sometimes feel bad for her because of how useless she is 😂.
Sadly it never officially left Japan but as long as you have Sailor Pluto in the party you can't really DIE save for may be unbeatable boss fights ie use Time Stop 1 turn use this games version of a 100% MP restore item on Pluto on the SAME turn time stop is in effect which lasts for 3 turns so as long as bosses STAY Time stopped you can't really DIE/Lose the fight unless the battle is meant to be unwinnable. But in this one I believe Super Queen Beryl isn't beatable but only the original 5 Sailor Scouts can fight her so you won't even have Sailor Pluto in the party then.
We need an Arc System Works Sailor Moon fighting game, oh wait that already happened! The Sailor Moon fighting games on Super Famicom were made by a team that became Arc System Works! IT'S TIME FOR THEM TO GET BACK TO THEIR ROOTS!
honestly, chibi moon would have worked if her attacks were very weak but all had a high chance of a critical hit or causing random status ailments or stat drops. thats what she was like in the anime. weak but often got lucky

Great tier list, watched Brainsratchcomns do a play through of the game, and used the top tier characters. As for the Bonus Round, of course Jupiter is 1st. Nit only being really stacked 😉, but she’s great at fighting bare handed.
I love Mercury, but yeah Jupiter is very interesting. She was introduced as a female delinquent type, but the goal of the show is to show you that she's the opposite of what you'd expect. She can be very girly and graceful and she's a really excellent cook. She really does have the most "talent". Mercury's my wife though.
So the Sailor Saturn transformation clip you used here is from a fan animation. At time of commenting, the video title is wrong, says Second Story instead of Another Story. Canonically, Saturn should be second strongest because she's a cosmic nuke that can erase planets by swinging her scythe. The caveat here is that it kills her in the process. By the end of the manga, Sailor Moon can do the same thing but then recreate the galaxy over and over because her power is healing and rebirth. If she wishes for something to happen, the Silver Moon Crystal makes it happen. The 90s anime and the manga are radically different stories. The 90s anime is also very much a shonen anime in a skirt so it's more general audience palatable. The manga is more shojo and emotionally driven with character motivations. Oh, and significantly less horny. Sailor Moon Crystal is like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood except the animation quality took 3 seasons to get good but sweet baby Jesus the payoff by the time we get to Sailor Moon Cosmos was phenomenal. All of the 90s anime is available on Hulu dubbed and for free on RUclips subbed. All 3 seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal, Sailor Moon Eternal, and Sailor Moon Cosmos are on Netflix. If youre interested, definitely give it a try. Or just read the manga. Or watch the 2003 live action series. It's Power Rangers but Sailor Moon. Or try one of the like 50 musicals they've produced at this point. My ranking of Sailor Guardians from least to most favorite is going to be different from yours as Sailor Moon has been a hyper fixation of mine since I was like 4. So it goes Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Chibi Moon, Venus, Mercury, Neptune, Moon, Pluto. It was nice to see you rank this game. Its gotten more traction in recent years. Hopefully Bamco will give us a new Sailor Moon game this lifetime. I would love a Sailor Warriors game. Pirate Warriors but Sailor Moon would be lit. ❤

Good list for a tough game based on a legendary show. Saturn being the highest DPS is appropriate being the solider of destruction. Uranus, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus being standard DPS is also fitting. Pluto, being the guardian of time, would have such an overpowered ability. Chibi sucks in the show and the game. Only weird break is that Sailor Moon isn't the second best character. Usually main characters are always close to the top.

Man this reminds me of the time where me and my friend played a sailor moon beat him up game where he was Mars wait no he was Jupiter I was Mars and we went through the whole game together and it was a fun time. Also since sailor moon did have a whole bunch of games back then though a lot of them were only in Japan with the release of crystal and the redoubt of the original anime it would have been perfect and maybe get like either ARPG game or something for the series in the gaming space at least in the states but I guess that will never happen and even if it did 5 Bucks it would be another low effort arena fighter. Still glad to see some sailor moon content even if it is just based around a game! And uh..... Mars was my favorite as a kid lol.

Vênus Sailor Saturno é a melhor de todas, tem uma ótima defesa e ataque, sua única habilidade além de ter o custo de 2 diamantes consegue atacar todos os inimigos do campo, o único ponto negativo que eu vejo nela seria a falta de habilidades em conjunto pois as que ela tem são mais para curar ( não que seja ruim) gostaria que tivesse mais algum tipo de ataque Sobre a Sailor Plutão eu acho ela muito roubada isso tira a total graça da batalha no jogo, suas habilidades são muito fracas acabam que não tiram muito dano, sua defesa e HP são péssimos faz com que os inimigos tenham mais chances de lançar um hit kill nela.

What for me puts Mercury in the God Tier? She fights one of the hardest battles in the game by herself.

Nabu's 2nd fight against mercury was a nightmare. I remember having to grind levels forever to take her down. Her defense was just obscene.
