  • @Narifamen

    Hmm... Illusionist Bracers sounds like it'd be great for a Bladesinger. Their extra attack feature explicitly lets them use cantrips, and in a neat coincidence you don't actually need to be using a melee weapon or have Bladesong active. So an elf bladesinger could shoot a bow, then fire off two firebolts. Or you could go the more traditional route and bonk someone with a melee weapon, then drop greenflame blade, booming blade, shocking grasp, or swordburst if you're surrounded. The last neat little trick I can think of would be using double lightning lure to pull an enemy a fair distance to bonk them.

    These videos are great for some inspiration, I'm adding the Marvelous Pigments into my Icewind Dale campaign with a new NPC who is basically Bob Ross and a retired extremely powerful wizard who now sits in a wood cabin and goes around painting snowy scenery and he needs the party to clear out the Cackling Chasm full of gnolls because he wants to paint in peace and he'll give that to them as a reward "to see the magic of painting and art in your life" because I know my players will love that item.

    The scimitar of speed cannot be used to get off 2 sneak attacks. That is a gross miss translation of the RAW. For instance, it is also stated you get 1 reaction per turn. This doesn't mean you get to use multiple reactions. A turn lasts through an entire round until it is your turn again. You get one sneak attack per your turn. Not one sneak attack on any turn. It is a feature that has 1 charge, and that charge refreshes at the start of your turn.

    Pretty good idea for a campaign with the mirror of lifetrapping being held by the gods in which they've trapped the only living tarrasque inside of it. The gods have bound the mirror to where it acts as an eternal prison where the creature can't escape even if the mirror is broken, however, the plot happens where someone has managed to mysteriously free the creature from the mirror, and now it's your job to embark on a journey to find out where the creature is and how it escaped.

I meant it more like raising your arm to attack, flicking your wand to cast a spell, the rise and fall of your chest as you breathe, blinking, etc. That kinda movement. There's no reason to get overly specific unless you want to. Everyone moves in combat scenarios all the time, all you need to do is specify what is happening in your own situation because it fits the nature of an RPG more than calling out invisible game mechanics in-character.

    if the creature who breaks the staff takes 16 times the amount of damage, then you could use suggestion, command or a similar spell to persuade the BBEG to break the staff himself, that would be 2560 damage!
    They do have a 50% chance to be teleported away though. Is there something like 3.5's dimensional anchor to prevent them from avoiding the blast in 5e?
    Regardless, I thought it was a little niche funny use. If you are able to compel a BBEG, you basically won already anyway, so this card-- sorry, this use falls into the gimmick category.

    The DM in my campaign asked us what magic items she should put in the latest boss’s lair. I convinced her to give us a tome of clear thought for my artificer and she threw in a tome of understanding (for the cleric, druid and ranger to fight over). Can’t wait to “break the game” by giving people +6 with flash of genius instead of just +5 and healing an extra 1 hit point when I cast a healing spell.
    I’m sure the cleric feels the same.
    In all fairness, we’re level 18, the ranger has had a home brew item that gives him +2 wis and max wis since level 10, and the druid is the reason we had to take a detour to the elemental plane of water and fight the boss in the first place (he got his soul stolen when he pulled a card from the deck of many things).

    I've used a number of these in one-shots and campaigns. I used the Helm of Brilliance for a fight against a whole swarm of giant spiders, the Bronze Horn of Valhalla against a Lich (they couldn't do anything against the lich, as he was immune to non-magical weapons, but they really helped against the horde of skeletons the lich kept summoning), and I used the Peregrine Mask in a battle against an avatar of Tiamat.
    Fun times all round :D
    However! I think my favourite very rare item is the Amethyst Lodestone. It comes with 6 charges that recharge 1d6 charges at dawn. It also always gives advantage on STR saving throws while carrying it (and by that wording, you don't have to be attuned to it)
    For a bonus action (and 1 charge), you gain a 10min fly speed equal to walking speed. Might now sound like much, but if you're playing a monk like I was, it is GODLY! It also lets you hover, meaning you can never be knocked prone, and won't fall out the sky if knocked unconscious or stunned.
    For an action (and 1 charge), you can force any creature within 60ft to make a DC 18 STR saving throw, or be pushed 20ft in any direction of your choice (including, but not limited to, straight up to help induce fall damage; off a cliff; driving them hard into the ground... which works especially well if they'd standing on a somewhat fragile surface, like a layer of ice on a lake; etc)
    My favourite though is that, as an action, you can expend 3 charges to cast Reverse Gravity... a spell with a 50ft radius (100ft diameter) area, sending everything within that area 100ft into the air. If there happens to be anything near them that's affixed to the floor, they get a DEX save to grab hold of it and not be sent into the sky... but otherwise they have no choice in the matter unless they're flying through magical means (and thus are able to hover). If there's a hard surface within that 100ft height, they take fall damage from the impact. It's also a concentration spell, so the moment they impact the ceiling, you can drop concentration and have them crash to the floor for even more fall damage :D
    Putting a Prismatic Wall, dome-shaped, above a particularly nasty enemy will also work wonders, as they'll be forced to move through all 7 layers of the wall (for 50d6, 7 Dex saving throws, a chance at blindness and petrification... half as much damage for a layer if they succeed that layer's Dex save)... TWICE...

    Many of these items would be really fun to have!
    Our ragtag group of weirdos are a vhuman druid, earth genasi barbarian, fallen aasimar warlock, halfling bard, and a shifter monk.
    I just got to lvl 5 last session after half a year. We made our characters using the point buy menthod and our stats are basically "focus on your main stat" kinda situation.
    Our DM later decided to give us a "free" background feat, if we had a really good reason for our characters to have that specific feat, which made our characters more.. special and quirky in a sense. This was 4 months ago and we are still hyped over it.
    Anyway, we have a pretty balanced and fun party. my vhuman druid is by far the one with the overall lowest stats, even with point buy. at lvl 1 I started with the Polearm mastery feat. which was cool and all, pretty useful til now. Then we got the free background feat. As a druid with 99% concentration spells and a background which revolved around poison making I got the Recilience (CON( feat for that sweet prof in Con saving throws. After hitting lvl 4 everyone except me and our monk deciced to just raise their stats. My druid finally got this prefered feat load out. now with both the Recilience (CON) feat and warcaster I haven't lost concentration on any spells, though this was at a cost of having lower stats. So far my spell "shelflife" is amazing.
    I just hope at one point I get lucky enough to find a wisdom tome so I can get one step closer to our 20 CHA bard T-T

    Actually, you should get 14 berserkers on average. 4D4 averages 4+16 = 20, divided by 2 =10, plus 4 = 14.

    I have one sich idea for the mirror. If you can have some servant inside, you can order them to prevent the target to sleep, making them reveal all of their secret, as is one of the worste torture in the world. And see hov detremental this thing is in real life, if someone in the party can control or enslave, you can store one army inside it. You can make one empire if you do the campain around it. And it become one harder target if you shrink it. And maybe can be one attunment exploit, as you can menace enemy for avoid conflict, or even disguise it for give the impression thath the entraped creature come out of nowere, prevent counters. Or shrink it soo much to fit in your cloth, jewl, or maybe, somehow insert it in your body, making you one of the most scary thing in D&D. Or you can have one more kind approch, making the creature inside produce anything given the material and knowledge. Roleplayng seem second just to the portal gun of Rick sanchez.

    This gave me a couple of interesting ideas.
    First what if your character is a wizard from Netheril that became trapped in the mirror and has been stuck there for centuries (lost your spellbook so you still start with base number of spells).
    Second a NPC ally that aids the PC’s to defeat a big bad by shattering a staff of power/magi but it was actually done so that they could get rid of a rival in evil (or if you can manage it make this your PC instead. An evil guy fights evil to fake his death for an evil takeover).

    The manuals don’t have a limit so if you are a lvl 20 wizard and make 5 of each and then become a lich and wait like 30000 years you have your stats so high that you will be able too outdo the gods on every way it’s like 3000 in every stat

    • @caltheuntitled8021
      @caltheuntitled8021 Год назад

      Well, maybe, but there’s a general rule in 5e that a stat can never go above 30 for any creature. Granted, having 30 in all stats would mean a god couldn’t possibly be better than you, but your lich isn’t getting a spell save DC of 1509 and an AC of 1505 any time soon.

    if you have access to a plane of hell (or a demiplane where you set the conditions) where 1 day goes by for each minute on the material plane, The manuals reset every 26 days.

      A Drow Elf Warlock could, in theory, live for close to 10,000 years, once they hit 10th level, and pull this trick off fairly well, via The Undying Patron: specifically, via the Undying Nature pact feature.
      Normally, Drow Elves live for around 750 years on average, but 1,000 years isn't exactly unreasonable or unheard of in D&D Lore.
      This means that once Undying Warlocks get access to Demiplane (8th level Conjuration) as a Mystic Arcanum at 15th level, they can use this trick with any Tome they find and bump one their stats to a max of 30, within the span of a six in-game months.
      Obviously, this assumes the DM will allow you to control the flow of time within that Demiplane (whether by RAW or RAI).
      It's a cute Tier 4 trick. One of which may piss off a DM or two once they know what you're up to.

    • @aaronjjacques
      @aaronjjacques 3 года назад

      @@simondiamond9628 worse still if you find all six then by the time you rotate thru all 6 books (6 days each) the cycle will reset and you can start again. just leave the books in the demi-plane "library" and check them out every 6 days.

    • @simondiamond9628
      @simondiamond9628 3 года назад

      @@aaronjjacques, the likelihood of finding all six tomes, let alone one, is extremely unlikely. Most DM's won't usually allow for more than one, if any at all.
      However, this can also be used to the DM's advantage. The DM could also create an enemy, or use an enemy, who can use Demiplane, Gate, Plane Shift, etc., or something similar, to access your specific Demiplane and use this tech against a player (or players) in a given campaign.
