I love this trick and, being one who think how I would perform it, merged it with a colour change I would like your opinion on:
You do the performance, but play off the shyness of the 6♠️ because 7-8-9, you ask the volunteer to show a bit of empathy and help hide the 6 by marking 9 on back. Let them do the underline, and reveal that it has become a 9❤️ (or a 9🖤 if you want to delay the compliment as an after thought) saying it must have changed in response to the volunteer's compassion.
Is that a good way to make it a bit more personal? Or going a touch too far?

Honestly, I loved the way Joe delivered the reveal in the original performance, like it was just so nonchalant that it seemed like the middle of the performance and not the end, and then he just let it hang for the audience to figure it out. I do a similar thing with one trick I do where I'm like "So, your card is not on top, and it's not on bottom, so where is it?" and usually they're like "In the middle" and then I'm like "No, it's right there" and reveal where the card is, just casually like I'm making conversation. Like, it's so mundane that it's almost anticlimactic, which just serves to underline how magical it is in their head or something.
You could make them draw a 6 of hearts that upside down is almost a spade 9, and use these cards. Does that make the trick stronger or is that over the top?

These are just fun. I have always loved scam school and what it's become but it's always fun when a few magicians get together and get goofy and share tricks. Joe also is super charismatic in his teaching and helping people preform, something Brian always excelled at in the original as well. It's just very fun and wholesome

i think the trick is enhanced by having the card landscape to the spectator. That adds a slight confusion to the orientation of the numbers. Not mentioned but it is how it was originally peformed.

The most important move is the story that distracts you from the slight of hand. You could do this trick and literally put down the card and pick up another one from the other end of the table.
Hey, could that trick be reusable with using the Frixion pen to erase the card marking?
I think if you don't want to ruin a card in the process, have the spectator put a sticky note on the card first and draw the six on that.
This is so simple that a complete amateur can do it. You can even shuffle the deck and keep the two cards on the bottom.
Really simple, but elegant trick that is sure to fools the pants of people.

Josie shows a unique and winning character when she performs. As a magician, she could grow a whole act around her glib, witty, and spunky character. Imagine a stage dominated by this tiny, fierce character who teases the audience while dropping jaws with her off-handed miracles.

When you flip a 6, it is still 6, if it's a card, unless it's magic, and it becomes a 9.
1:23. She didn't cut to that 6, you had that 6 on the bottom, and you put the bottom pile on top, so already this is a forced card.
Missed the second move, but presumably it was why you still had the rest of the pile you knew the order of in your hand still when you were doing things with the 6, so presumably, you pulled both the 6 and the 9, and hid placing down the 6.
I missed the point in which he got close enough to the pack of cards the 6 and the 9s were at that he could set down the 6. Wait, he still had the whole half of the deck in his hand when he showed the 6, so when he turned the deck, he could perform the glide.

If a tree performs magic in the woods, is it a camera trick if no one is around to perceive it? Anyway, come on with that shit. We work hard to not rely on "camera tricks" and have done so for many, many years now. If you think you don't have to perform against your guests' perception, the only person you're fooling is yourself.
