I totally concur. Hard, driving with the melodic overtones sung with brilliant clarity. The guys voice is awesome. Reminds me somewhat of Ronnie James Dio.

Bloodgood has other better songs off there first album. Black snake. Killing the beast are heavier songs. The singer is Les who goes to my church, water of life in Fontana CA. Great guy. He has play scrooge at our Xmas plays. And oz fox of stryper also played with bloodgood for album withing the last year.

The name Bloodgood comes from the bass player, Michael Bloodgood. They are a theatrical band. The singer Les Carlsen also does some stage acting. I saw them in a tiny club back around the time this song came out. This song is part of a string of songs that tell of Jesus' trial, crucifixion and resurrection - hence the sudden cutoff at the end. Some years later they released a live video of a concert with actors, including a couple of the guys' wives, like a musical production.
But yeah, it's definitely a band made for Christians.

It is 1987 as the release date. I think someone has put the Isiah 53:5 reference to give reason behind the song. It is same verse that Stryper get their name from, apparently It happens to be the first Christian metal track I got into. It is a brilliantly written song. There other Easter themed tune is called Crucify. In 2015 Bloodgood released their track called Lamb of God. Les is a great vocalist. It is my go to Easter track over many others.

(Biased fan here) - There's a feature-length documentary film coming out on BLOODGOOD later this year called Trenches of Rock. It just finished a 2-year film festival circuit. Trailer's on RUclips. Also, the record came out in '87. There was a reissue in '98. The song definitely doesn't cutoff at the end, so you must have been given a bad copy. This is definitely one of the band's ballads, as they have much harder music in their arsenal. When playing live, they paired The Messiah with another song called Crucify that always preceded it. Completely contrary to your comments, this song (along with Crucify) was not designed for Christians at all. Their entire "mission" was outreach to metal fans willing to give them a listen. Lastly, check out their "Rock Theater" show that had actors portraying the lyrics of the songs in a theatrical style with the band playing along with the scene.

Les Carlsen has a killer falsetto. Check out Lamb of God or Accept the Lamb. This is a power ballad. This band is pure heavy metal. Also consider the time period. The late 80s was a rough time for Christian Rock Artists. The lyrics were to Christian for mainstream, but their music was too heavy for Church. One of the all time great ballads.

I think Sori you will especially love this: It’s time you reviewed a second QUEENSRYCHE (another Seattle band) song. Vin loved ‘Eyes Of A Stranger’ last year. I recommend ‘Silent Lucidity’ their biggest hit. It went Top 10 in 91 and was nominated for Grammys and AMAs and nominated for 5 MTV Video awards, winning one, beating R.E.M.s Losing My Religion in the Viewers Choice category. It is a beautifully lush ballad with strings by Michael Kamen of Metallica fame as well as many film scores. The album Empire went triple platinum and is their biggest seller, even though ‘94’s Promised Land debuted at number 3 on Billboard. Queensryche is a band that deserves your attention. You will love it so much I think. Video is great too. Please use the studio version or official video version. No good quality live clips. Trust me. Sooo good.

I love Bloodgood; however, even as such - I have always felt this song was a little repetitive (musically and lyrically). "Accept The Lamb" is a great song from them. There's like three versions now because it's been redone by the band on different albums. So if you've not checked out the song - and you're interested, it's a good song - especially the original version because it's a little more raw.
