@@TheAdventuresofTNT you kept saying Blood from Above was from same slbum ad to hell eith the devil and its not...Blood From Above is from an album almost 40 yrs after To Hell with the devil
Hi my name is Adriana I use to go to church with Stryper, Michael sweet is a gifted singer there is a metal church called sanctuary pastor bob Beman started the church and that how I met Stryper when I was 15 in 1985
I've been a STRYPER fan since the beginning! They are AMAZING! And were right up there with the rest of the 80s era, they were better than all of them musically, they broke thru, and are better than EVER! And have a message for all time, love these guys so much, they have gotten me thru so much over the yrs
me too, but there is always room for more fans, I was rocking out with this guy on To Hell With The Devil, it still holds up despite being almost 40 years old roughly
You would think Stryper didn't get proper recognition, but did you know their song "Honestly" is the reason MTV had to put a limit on how many times they would play a music video. "Honestly" was the longest running #1 song in history of MTV history.
If you wanna hear a full album by Stryper I think "Soldiers Under Command" would be a good album to start out with. That album cemented me as a fan for life!
Yes and surrender is the best song on that album and I think even though all the other albums today are really good they are surrender is still the best heaviest rockiness song they've ever made
you are absolutely right, that is the first album I heard, in the 70's I was saved 1979 to be exact, prior to that I was hard into KISS, my parents made me give up the kiss records, so finding Stryper in the 80's gave me something that sounded like KISS, even better than KISS even, and something to keep the parental units happy
It's the Spirit of the true living God who anoints Christian bands like Stryper to do what they do.Who gives them the Talent, music, lyrics ,creativity, passion and energy and boldness.I don't want to preach but God and Jesus are so real.Giving my life to Jesus was the most important, sensible, and necessary Thing I ever did in my life. Now I have His stengthening power in me every day,a reason to live and to rock, and the full assurance I go to Heaven when I die.Jesus Rocks!!!!

I agree that Stryper is one solid, rockin band! I was in high school at the time and a good friend of mine and I drove from Augusta, GA over to Fayetteville, NC to see them live on this Tour which was absolutely amazing!!! Such high energy, enthusiasm and passion coupled w/ impeccable musicianship, etc as expected. Fun fact: my first day back at school after that show I wore my concert T-shirt w/ the album cover on the front - one of my teachers sent me to the principal's office because of the words "hell" & "devil"...they wound up making me call my Mom to bring me a different shirt so I could change shirts and stay in school for the rest of the day! OMG
The FInal Battle is good too, I think I have all of them except for Against the Law, that album didn't land with me, but everything else they did is great
Michael Sweet (lead singer of Stryper) himself shared your video on his facebook page. He loved your reaction. I enjoyed your reaction too. I love Stryper.
I just bought the MS signature Flying V guitar and man, what an amazing guitar. I am a Youth Pastor and my youth group loves it when we rock out worship. I also have a home made Stryper bass and I play that sometimes.
I might be so bold to say that their the best band from their genre and era in regards to putting out music and live performance. Michael Sweet still hits and holds crazy notes. They've gotten better with age I think.
I have listened to them from day 1. I got in big trouble in college, christian college, listening to them, but didn't care. I think Robert is a one of the best drummers out there, in my opinion.
Stryper rules after 30 years. Not many bands can say that they're on top of their game after that much time. Some other great Stryper tracks are "Writings on the Wall", "The Reign", and their cover of Earth, Wind, and Fire's "Shining Star". Michael Sweet is the singer and Robert Sweet (brother) is the drummer. Keep it up dude!!!
Just found this on RUclips and I have been a Stryper fan since the 90s. They helped me in my journey when I first became a Christian. They are still making music and have an album coming out this coming fall. CAN.NOT.WAIT!!
Finally someone reacts to "The Valley!" One of my favorites from them. I remember this coincidentally being released right before I decided to revisit them and do a bit of a dive. Wish more people would react to that one. Amazing how great he still sounds after all these years.
I still have the original cassette tape with cover, that they later changed to this logo. It was cartoon versions of themselves throwing the devil into the pits of hell. Still jam out to every song from To Hell with the Devil. Singers name is Micheal Sweet, dude has pipes.
They were my favorite band growing up. I went through a lot of shit and I really dug the music and the message and it helped get me past my own nonsense. Then I started playing guitar and really came to appreciate how unique they are among metal bands. Not better not worse, just a style that really is their own and doesn't sound like anyone else.
I agree with you my friend, I'm 46, so I grew up in the 80s. My older brother by 4 years introduced me to metal and our church youth pastor introduced us to Stryper. I was OBSESSED with them, had all their albums, saw them live 8 times and met Micheal and Robert Sweet when they played in Muskegon Michigan in 1989 during their In God We Trust tour
Man they played Muskegon?? If you’re nearby, they’re coming to play the token lounge in Westland! Do NOT miss that show if at all possible. Small venue and stage is practically a foot or two above the floor with no fences, gates, etc…going to be killer
Stryper and WASP did a heaven and hell tour together back in the day and now Blackie Lawless himself is a born again Christian and WASP's last couple of albums are Christian Metal albums
They didn't do that tour. That heaven and hell thing was in the cover of a music magazine with the pictures of Robert Sweet and Blackie. But they never toured together.
This album is a classic for sure. So was Soldiers Under Command and Yellow Black Attack. Some people accused Stryper of using it as a gimmick but that is insane because that they did was, as you mentioned, they were the only one doing this while everyone was singing about the devil, evil, darkness, etc. At their live shows they would throw bibles into the audience. By all means what they did should have been a career ending footmark in history but instead they rose above it and because highly respected. Although the classics cannot be touch, a lot of their new stuff is amazing. As you noted in this reaction. Hard, talented musicianship, heavy, and awesome. I think Michael Sweet's really grew into his voice in his older age. He has done solo work which will blow your mind, with songs like "Bizarre" and "Million Miles Away". Get a listen on and thank you for posting and sharing this!
I came along later to the "Stryper fan club," if you will. The first album I listened to was _Fallen._ Loved it, still love it, and recommend it to anyone who is new to Stryper. I found a copy of _To Hell With the Devil_ near-mint, with the original cover, at the record store and I'm so glad I paid the asking price. It's become one of my all-time favorite albums.
I grew up on Stryper & you're right... they are solid! Saw them at the Benson HS auditorium back in '86 for the Soldiers Under Command tour & again in '87 at the Keller auditorium for To Hell With The Devil in Portland OR. We were head banging so much I couldn't turn my head for days after. Ahhh... memories. 🤘
Sweet! I helped promote the Benson H.S. show after I went with the promoter, Joe Schomus, to see Stryper at The Warehouse in Sacramento, where we met them. The opener, Saint, used to practice in Joe's one car garage in Salem. Yes, it was deafening and glorious! 🎸
I am a Christian and appreciated being able to listen to God glorifying metal as a teenager. It was a blessing. They have a song called God that's awesome
The lead singer and co-guitarist of STRYPER is Michael Sweet. The drummer is his older brother Robert, the other guitarist is Oz Fox and the original bass player was Timothy Gaines. He's no longer with the group. They have a new guy but don't know I don't know his name. But there you go.
By the way you should listen to Soldiers Under Command. It's a Great mix of heavy and melodic. As a 50 yr old musician this band is the most overlooked 80s metal band ever.. Your spot on ...
I saw these guys live in the 80s when I was in Hawaii, one of the loudest concerts I’d ever been to. Probably a week till my ears stopped ringing. They were great.. You should check out their live stuff, I couldn’t believe how well the singer played while singing like a boss.
The first time I saw them they performed in a small club and I was at the front of the stage, the second time was an outdoor venue over 20,000 easily and it was just the next year. I had an opportunity to see them again this time a club again and it was in 2018 and they still sound great they don't disappoint. I have always liked them because they have a positive message and they do what they love no matter what the critics say.
I love "Reach Out" from "Soldiers Under Command". It's incredibly melodic and even though the chorus is repetitious, it works! "To Hell With the Devil" is a lot more polished than the previous albums and it even gets more polished as it goes on with "In God We Trust". "Soldiers Under Command" is to me their best album with no bum tracks. "No More Hell To Pay" is a really good recent album. Also, they did an album of covers called "The Covering" that has a song called "God" that I think is one of their best songs ever!
Nice... come on... awesome... two iconic songs in my opinion...lol... my favorite band still...they still kick ass (keeping it pg)... Michael Screamer Sweet 🤘🙂🤘
The chorus vocals in their song “God” give me chills every time. The way Michael and Tim mail that high harmony is mind blowing. I saw them play at The Whiskey in Hollywood and they nailed that song!
My favorite songs from the classic era are "Rock that Makes Me Roll", and "The Way". Both are face melters!!! My favorite album from the modern era is "No More Hell to Pay". It's chock full of great songs!!!
First time I heard Stryper some years ago, it was one of their ballad songs and, in my ignorance, I chalked them up to all their songs being wimpy and soft like their glam image. Years later, I hear a HEAVY ASS riff in a song called “do unto others”…I had absolutely no idea it was the same band. I couldn’t turn off the repeat button for that song. I started listening to more and more of them…easily became one of my favorite metal bands. They’re one of the only bands I can think of that actually IMPROVED with age getting better and better. I also hugely respect that they don’t shy away from what they are about and where they stand. A lot of bands are quick to sway with the wind…Stryper is unapologetic about who they are. That’s something to be respected. And I can’t even imagine all the shit they’ve taken over the years. Too metal for some Christians, too Christian for some metalheads…although it’s crazy how many fans of all backgrounds they have. Christians, atheists, satanists, and everything in between follow these guys heavily….Stryper is a hell of a band of musicians. One of my all time faves of theirs is “more than a man”…it’s the last track on to hell with the devil. Total banger to end an album on!
A massively understated band. Great live as well. Vocals as good as any. Guitar work, solos and riffs are top shelf. Check out tracks Soldiers under command, Yahweh , Do unto others. Watch some of their live videos.
One of my favorite bands of all time!!! And this reaction puts a smile on my face .. .... your appreciation of there talent is awesome !!!! Thank you .
I’m 58 now . In my teens I listened to Stryper not because they were “christian rock” but because they sounded great musically - I was and am a “hair band” 80s fan. Years after listening to Stryper did I realize that most all their lyrics contain mostly “Christian” songs … I was to busy rockin to their solid rock sound to really think about it . Years went by and I lost touch with their music . About 6 years ago I started listening to them again - and Holy cow man, Michael is writing amazing songs - the band is playing heavier and tighter than ever . I saw them live about 4 years ago in Dallas . Michael is a perfectionist- he makes sure the music is loud, clear, and that everyone is getting their mind blown . One of the best bands ever to come out of the 80s - truly . Seeing them live / you too will be a believer in Stryper . Go see them this year 2022 - they are playing live in many city’s in the U.S. Another new album will be released around April before the tour starts in May. Stryper may be Christian believers - but Stryper is a true classic / heavier than they have ever been - Rock band
It really gets old when people have to throw in their little digs about Strypers beliefs Yeah they sound good but also they are not ashamed of the Gospel in this mocking world. It raises my respect for them
I have always been a Stryper/Michael Sweet fan amazing band since Rox Regime.. These guys are the forefathers of Christian Rock music. Going on 40 years of solid rocking out. Even my wife, which is country, loves of the ballads of Stryper.
It is a classic. In 2016, I saw them perform this album in its entirety for the 30th anniversary of it. Some of the songs was the first time they ever played them live. They did the whole album plus some newer stuff and a Van Halen and Kiss cover.
Stryper is one of the most underrated bands of all time! They had more strength and power on vocals and musicianship then all the bands in the 80's and were basically ignored due to the "genre" of "Christian Rock". Wake up people, this band rocked then, and they effing rock now!
Lead Singer / Guitarist Michael Sweet. Released several solo albums since 2015. Check out "One Sided War" and "Ten" In addition to Stryper, and solo stuff, Michael toured with Boston, recorded with George Lynch (Sweet Lynch) and Tracii Guns (Sunbomb) Robert Sweet - Drums Oz Fox - Guitar Perry Richardson - Bass Anything from "No More Hell To Pay", "Fallen", "God Damn Evil", and "Even the Devil Believes"
Hey Michael Sweet and Co have been banging out for Jesus since 82 or 83. They kick ass. Yes To hell with the devil is a classic. It's musically perfect
My top 5 singers are Michael Sweet of Stryper, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, Geoff Tate of Queensryche and Ian Gillan of Deep Purple. Not necessarily that order.
There was a church called Sactuary that all the Christian Metal kids went to, it came about from the Stryper Bible studies. The pastor was a long haired rocker and it was packed every Sunday afternoon. After the service we'd got out for fellowship then head to Calvary Chapel West Covina to hear Pastor Raul Ries.
Their newest album Even the Devil Believes is absolutely amazing from start to finish. It’s a new classic. They are one of the only bands on the planet that has gotten better with age.
Watching you listen and enjoy the songs brings my enjoyment to a different level, too. Thanks for choosing these songs and digging them so much. They are also two of my faves by this band, though the first two songs off Fallen (Yahweh, Fallen) are the band at its most epic.
I heartily agree! _Fallen_ is probably my favorite album overall (and it's hard to choose)! The song _Fallen_ itself helped me enormously when I was undergoing some weird spiritual stuff. I also like the song _Take It to the Cross._
I heartily agree. I'm a woman and I can't hit the notes he does. _Take It to the Cross_ is an example of his amazing ability and versatility. It's one of my favorites! I also love the song _Fallen_ as well as most of that album.
That powerful feeling you had was the holy spirit hitting you ! Praise God With the clashing of cymbals and the banging of drums And sing loud to the heavens
Stryper is awesome band. I just saw them in September and they put on a great show. I also introduced my wife to Stryper too. She's hooked on their music. My 6 yr old son loves stryper too. ROCK ON!!!
I'm not Christian but Stryper is one of bands I keep on listening until today. I got to know them when I was in first year of highschool, in 1991. Yes, you are right, this band is SOLID. They kinda set the bar quite high for us 90s teen bands. I don't remember there was any Stryper cover band or tribute band back then where I lived, at least that I know of. However, they're very popular in my country, and got plenty of air time on our local radio stations.
Stryper was actually popular throughout the 80's and got a lot of recognition for their musicianship throughout the decade, so much so that they crossed over to mainstream and released a few albums that were more secular than Christian and crossed back over to Christian metal and has continued to rock on too this day.
Without a doubt, "To Hell With The Devil" is most definitely a classic album Other songs from that particular album you should react to are: Calling On You Free Honestly Other Stryper songs in general you should definitely check out include: Loud And Clear Soldiers Under Command In God We Trust Against The Law Shining Star (Earth, Wind & Fire cover)
Michael Sweet is the lead singer/Guitarist, with his brother (Robert Sweet, drums), Oz Fox, Lead guitar, and originally Tim Gaines, Bass. I've been listening to Stryper since they formed in 84' They are the best metal band on the planet and have been shredding for 30 yrs... In concert, they sound just like the albums, at least they did in the late 80's... If you love metal, they should be in your collection!
Songs to listen to. To name a few : Soldiers Under Command, In God We Trust, Always There For You, Against the Law, Caught In the Middle, Open Your Eyes, Do Unto Others.
I recommend this to all head bangers
Perfect song for the head bangers is Theocracy " The Wonder Of It All"
I don’t care what anybody says about Strypers “cheesiness” or Christian themes, but these dudes shred!! No doubt about it!

The Album is called God Damn Evil, not sure if you can still get it from them or not but it may be out there, I know they released it on vinyl too
Stryper rocks been a huge fan since 85 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I love the chorus of "The Valley"
Powerful vocal harmonies👌
Stryper is very good but you know what its better? Metatrone, the keyboard player its a priest, and he even do the growls
I literally cant stand growls.
Exactly. There is nothing musical or melodic about growls, and they usually ruin what would otherwise be decent music.
check out Make Love Great Again a recent song/video where Blade Runner meets metal
His name is Perry Richardson, originally from the band Firehouse.
Michael Sweet also filled in and sang for Boston.
By the way you should listen to Soldiers Under Command. It's a Great mix of heavy and melodic. As a 50 yr old musician this band is the most overlooked 80s metal band ever.. Your spot on ...
Glad you got to experience it. I saw them last year live. Rocked my head. The group The Protest opened for them and shouldn't be ignored. Great music.
Beautiful harmony guitars!! Even more beautiful message!! Love this band!! Nothing more powerful than this metal backing this message!! Angelic!
God is an awesome song. As much as I love Stryper, I think God is probably their best track. Just really powerful and haunting.
Nice... come on... awesome... two iconic songs in my opinion...lol... my favorite band still...they still kick ass (keeping it pg)... Michael Screamer Sweet 🤘🙂🤘
The chorus vocals in their song “God” give me chills every time. The way Michael and Tim mail that high harmony is mind blowing. I saw them play at The Whiskey in Hollywood and they nailed that song!
Love early Stryper the best!
My favorite songs from the classic era are "Rock that Makes Me Roll", and "The Way". Both are face melters!!! My favorite album from the modern era is "No More Hell to Pay". It's chock full of great songs!!!
I love those 2 tunes.
A master piece
More Than a Man is my favorite Stryper song. Completely agree with your assessment of this STILL great band.
Stryper the greatest band ever... lots of their fans here in indonesia.
Greetings from indonesia...
Thank you .
Michael Sweet, an AMAZING octave range!! And he STILL sounds like this! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Now watch a video of them playing that first song live. It's twice as heavy and will melt your face off! In a good way natch. 👌
To Hell with the devil is most definitely a classic......STRYPER ROCKS!!!
It is a classic. In 2016, I saw them perform this album in its entirety for the 30th anniversary of it. Some of the songs was the first time they ever played them live. They did the whole album plus some newer stuff and a Van Halen and Kiss cover.
Stryper was in the top four metal bands of the 80's. I still have several magazines from back in the day that would prove that.
I never thought about stryper being this good. Wow! Still groundbreaking metal. And both Sweet brothers still zeroed in like a nuclear blast
Check out "One Sided War" and "Ten" In addition to Stryper, and solo stuff, Michael toured with Boston, recorded with George Lynch (Sweet Lynch) and Tracii Guns (Sunbomb)
Robert Sweet - Drums
Oz Fox - Guitar
Perry Richardson - Bass
Anything from "No More Hell To Pay", "Fallen", "God Damn Evil", and "Even the Devil Believes"
One Sided War is a very solid album. Maybe Michael's best solo project. That opening track, "Bizarre", is killer.
I might swap Ian for Ronnie James Dio.
Hmmm?? It would be tough to decide who would be 1, between Bruce and Geoff......
Classic Band, Album... Phenomenal band Stryper.. Love em✌️👏👏💪
Yes! I remember Pastor Bob Beeman! 👍
Fantastic song and Stryper Rocks no matter what you believe..
Hard Working band!!
Their newest album Even the Devil Believes is absolutely amazing from start to finish. It’s a new classic. They are one of the only bands on the planet that has gotten better with age.
Always loved Stryper. Great vocals, rhythm section and duel guitars. Can’t go wrong.
Yup about the vocals... he's in the top of the awesome vocalists out there 🙂🤘
I heartily agree.
Yeah, this is definitely a classic. I grew up listening to these guys. He is by far one of the greatest vocalist that I’ve ever heard.
Wow !!!WOW!!!
Michael sweet has a voice like no other
I am a diehard striper fan they were great in the 80s and still
Great today their new music rocks the valley a great song
Stryper is awesome band. I just saw them in September and they put on a great show. I also introduced my wife to Stryper too. She's hooked on their music. My 6 yr old son loves stryper too.
ROCK ON!!!
Each album they put out is a progression of the previous one. They are consistent better with each record. Even the Devil believes is amazing
ETDB is easily best metal album of 2020. Make love great again is a total banger
I remember listening to this song for the very first time! It changed rock music in me forever!
What country are u from?
check out Bloodgood and Rez Band
Yes they're an excellent band. Thank you
Stryper was actually popular throughout the 80's and got a lot of recognition for their musicianship throughout the decade, so much so that they crossed over to mainstream and released a few albums that were more secular than Christian and crossed back over to Christian metal and has continued to rock on too this day.
They will always be the most underrated band!! They have vocals, drums ,bass and lead!! The range They have is insane!! From soft to med to metal!!
Without a doubt, "To Hell With The Devil" is most definitely a classic album
Other songs from that particular album you should react to are:
Calling On You
Free
Honestly
Other Stryper songs in general you should definitely check out include:
Loud And Clear
Soldiers Under Command
In God We Trust
Against The Law
Shining Star (Earth, Wind & Fire cover)
Their cover of Shining Star blows the original away, IMO.
@@4themusicman agreed
I'm a professional musician and have been a Stryper fan from the very beginning 1984. Stryper has only gotten better with each album.
