You can get all same options on a GT, Like the sport hood, remote start, and power lift gate. Plus with gas prices these days, V6 is better for a daily driver
For esthetics, you can option both the R/T and the GT exactly the same. The only difference is the GT and R/T badges and now the newer R/T’s have a fender HEMI badge and some interior options like the Entertainment system and alcantara seats. The main reason why you would buy the R/T over the GT is because of the 5.7 HEMI but the GT is not that much slower, it’s tow rating is pretty good and still had the menacing look of the R/T and SRT
Nice review. I am picking up an RT on Friday. I am turning in a loaded GT. I was trying to decide between the RT and the GT and after driving the RT the choice was easy. It handles better and the exhaust note is great. You really cannot tell you are driving a full size SUV. The SRT is over kill in my opinion and over 60K. I had a great owners experience for 3 years and hope the next 3 years are even better.
@@mavs9119 no complaints. Have 22k miles on her. She goes back in March 2023. Other than routine maintenance and gas all good. Definitely recommend you picking one up. My wife loves it as well. Good luck.
Get the RT or the SRT if you can swing it. The v6 is still more than enough for most and a good value if funds are short. I have had the RT and the v6 and would definitely pick the RT again and again if given the choice and funds being there for both.
Here in Ny awd Gt with all the standard options you showed Sticker is 39k a factor to is Gas mileage. I have a Hemi in my ram I only get 13mpg running around so I got my wife the V6 Durango limited she gets 20mpg running around the milage makes a big difference.. If I was gonna get a Durango for speed I'd get a slightly used SRT for price of a new RT
All you did was compare the options between the two models which either can be configured however you choose. In fact the GT can now be had with the same exact exterior styling as the R/T. That was not a good comparison video at all.
A couple of days ago. I bought a '20 Durango GT with the tow package. My wife and I both have diesel Ram 4dr pickup trucks. We added the Durango, for a vehicle that fits in parking garages better. But still is fairly roomy.
I picked the RT for sound and expandable Hp ability... & I was coming from a Camaro Ss, no other “ family “ ride has the RT ( SRT) ability. GT is nice, the 3.6 is amazing... but for sure, they need to give v8 little more hp and design to make up for the money... I still love the RT better!
Black rims, badges, and mirrors on the GT are part of the blacktop package available on GT, RT, and SRTs. Cargo cover and side bars with integrated cross bars on this RT are the Cargo Plus package and available on all trims.
You can always tell when the reviewer didn't take the time to actually sit in the 3rd row seats when they just glance back there and assume that it must be cramped back there. It's surprisingly roomier than it looks and every review I've seen where they actually get in the 3rd row will acknowledge that fact. I'm 6 ft tall and was able to fit into the 3rd row comfortably.
Buy the V8 is great!!!! I just bought 2 black and my security is so happy with them before they had the V6 Pentastar which where great, but this V8 are amazing for them! Durango doesnt need anything else, they should leave 5 years more this champion model...!👏👏👏👏👏
Definitely RT, RT Plus and SRT win hands down..Have a used GT model now with options but hopefully get into a brand new RT, RT Plus or SRT next year. Heard Dodge discontinuing gas powered at end of this year which I think is mistake. Very thorough video
I recently found out that I'm having another kid, so I looked into these Durangos. It's a 100% no from me.. I own a 2019 Charger 392 scatpack. I absolutely love my car. So looking into a family SUV like this was a no brainier. But the 392 and even the hellcat versions of these Durangos are outrageously over priced, that goes for these R/Ts as well. How do I know? A base price V6 charger is $29,995. A base price Charger 392 scatpack runs $39,995. That's a 10k difference for what amounts to a bigger motor, bigger breaks, upgraded suspension and maybe a better transmission?. That's it, 10k seems like a reasonable price for what you get. Now do the same for a base V6 Durango...it will run you $30,795. Now let's take a look at the base price of a 392 Durango. It's gonna set you back $62,995 WHAT!!!??? THATS OVER A $32k difference! Dodge are you insane?!?! I can buy two V6 Durangos for the price of one 392 🤣. And what do you get for that extra 32k? Nothing more than what a base Charger scatpack gives you, ohh wait no, you get leather and AWD 😂 yeah that sounds perfectly reasonable. Dodge I love you, but you've gone insane and I can't believe anyone would shell out 62k for a Durango that essentially looks the same as a base v6. The R/T version is cheaper, but still well over priced for what guy get. No thank you, I'll stick to my Charger until I have a 3rd kid.
An extra 10k for a rapidly depreciating asset??? LOL no thanks, keep the 10k and invest it and make money. Unless you have more money than you know what to do with, then go for it
We didn't notice a huge difference in performance between the GT and RT. The V-6 Pentastar is a decent engine, but went with the Hemi because...HEMI. 😎
had a 2010 GC with the HEMI. Granted it has a 5 speed, i got 9 MPG on mid grade gas (89). On my second Durango V6 with the 8 speed averaging 5 mpg more on regular gas. Same short trips. Had a Challanger 5.7. Durango isnt a race car. Happy with the V6. If you tow go with the HEMI 5.7
I don't think R/T is worth the ten thousand dollar difference. I have the GT plus fully loaded and I don't need that extra power on my engine and don't think any does because this a street legal SUV not a racing one.
