Thanks for the talk Jimmy , Jurriaan. You mentioned orgs that are driven by annual budgets.
What are your arguments to succeed in changing that,
and are there any intermediate steps you suggest for such transformation.

Isn’t this fun? Trying to orient in this organizational maze with traditional budget, projects, complex architecture and everything else that comes with large (& sometimes also small) organizations!
The idea of removing the PO made me think of one anti pattern I often see in organizations. Where management points at the team saying they should handle this, since they are self-organized autonomous teams even thou they have never secured the prerequisites that makes the team able to take that kind of decisions and ownership. Often happens when there are no clear answer for management to give and therefore easier to point at the team.
What would happen then if the PO would be removed? And especially since many organizations don’t prioritize having Scrum Masters for each team either…

Love the idea of teams without a Product Owner... but it requires on team value / mission / vision clarity that most companies just don't have yet

Agreed. So when talking to the upper mgmt, a good move could be to get them to work on that clarity, and explain the costs of not having it.

I very much like your use of metaphore to create visualizations. For me it totally works!
But 'operating system' is a bit too close to IT - to my flavor. Should we not shake that association off of Agile? To finally establish that it applies to any process that needs to be set free from hierarchical control?
If want to get to board room, the first thing you need to get across, is that Agile is not some an IT gadget. I like to mention something like eco-system and then further on try to avoid the association of biological evolution... rather emphasize people and what they need.

Hi Philip, I understand your point. However I haven't encountered board rooms that are confused by this. An alternative metaphor that I also like is the 'aquarium' and 'the fish'. In our case we want to work on the aquarium as it shapes/influences the behavior of the fish, instead of trying to change the behavior of the fish directly (through training, etc.). Here is my favorite video that explains it. ruclips.net/video/dB-L_FZC3ck/видео.html
