This made me cry because I was born in Los Angeles and shipped by train to South Texas as a child. Parents died, siblings split up and I grew up in Houston with a really bad southern accent. Now when I visit family on West Coast I have to repeat myself many times for them to understand me. They laugh and think it's cute cause I'm the only one of my family with an accent. I definitely don't fit in or belong. Deep inside I'm searching for a place to belong. Finally for the first time in many many years I wore my glasses instead of my contacts and no makeup when I went outside, I felt so free. I may not belong anywhere but no one knows but me.

I have taught my children that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Yes we are born in a place and yes there are certainly different villages. We moved constantly when I was young and I was dark skinned and dark curly hair and I felt like such an outsider. What I learned is that I am unique , I am able to talk to anyone and make them feel special or included.
I have a channel here and I am proud of the character that I have. I am real , when so many are not. I am kind, when so many are not. I am willing to help others when so many are not.
You are a beautiful spirit and I know you have touched so many with your words. As I hope I do.

I relate to this so much. While I did not immigrate to the US from another country, I did not have a stable foundation and was always moving around. I went to 10 different schools in several different states before I graduated high school. I do not have deep roots, I do not have lifelong friends and connections. I have always been the outcast and the new girl. I struggle to find where I belong amongst people that grew up together and already have formed deep roots and tight bonds. I always feel one step removed. I have learned to accept what is and do my best to find and forge new connections so the next half of my life I will have a place where I belong... a place to call home. ❤

It's like I wrote this video, word by word, with the only difference that I don't really feel comfortable when I am in Romania. Sense of belonging is something we all struggle to find. And feeling like an outcast is not only limited to ethnicity or where you come from. I love how you share your deep thoughts and outlooks in your videos. It feels like watching a movie! I can't agree with you more on your thoughts. At some point you feel like you don't belong where you are even though you are from exactly where you are. I believe that the idea of 'home' is not singular, and maybe is not only defined by borders... For me it's more related to people whom I love. When I travel I feel like at home when I see my friends, even though I can only see them shortly. And even when I'm in my home country, I feel isolated easily. I think it's good to have as many 'homes' as possible!! It's somewhere you can feel warm in harsh world ! Thank you for your wonderful videos !

In my case, early childhood social dislocation set me up for a lifetime of feeling unwanted, alone, and as the 'other'. My first sight of the sign in my new gym brought me to tears: "You belong!". As social animals, we need to belong in order to thrive. We may survive without community...but we can never thrive without it.

I can completely relate to that!. I never felt that i belong anywhere.
It is difficult sometimes, but i leant how to accept that. But seeing your video and knowing that you and many other people propably feel the same makes me think that i am not alone after all.
I wish you love and peace always and to everyone who feels the same.

Hi beautiful Sophie, thank you for sharing this with us.
I love that you refer to our organic self, if we are able to find our way back to our proper roots, with no impressions or pressure from society, then that’s such a beautiful thing.
Take care and sending love as always 🙏❤️ xx

Gosh, Sophia, that was beautiful and masterful. Message and delivery, and always with such artistic cinematography. Great to see you settling in, in more than one way. You seem happier and more at peace, yet still pushing your boundaries not afraid to keep growing and taking risks. This was very sweet.

I love exploring belongings. This reminds me of one of my early on videos. I also don’t belong to the countries my parents are from. It’s funny to feel belonging to a country that I’m living in now, even though only living here for 5 yrs

That is so interesting! I do have a home where I'm "from", but having lived abroad for a couple of years, we sometimes forget, that the home from a few years back has changed. Culture evolves, language evolves and I as well have changed of course. Other places become a part of you and you find yourself becoming a bit stranger to your own home with the years passing.

As we live on with our lives, we will keep discovering and keep learning our individuality, because at the end of the day, we only live for nobody except ourselves and every individual has a different and unique life story.
Sometimes, it can be difficult to accept at times to think that you don't completely fit in or conform to anything, but just remember, you are unique in the most beautiful way!

I am 55 and still trying to figure out where I belong. I am Mexican and American Indian, parents never married and when staying with my Father he would immerse us in both cultures but, mostly the Mexican culture and while living with my Mother, we were immersed mostly in the Indian and white cultures. So, I felt like a loner and still do. However, I have grown to except that I am an introvert and home to me is where my pets are. The home I have created for us. I am now struggling to figure out where to go in my retirement years. Portugal is an area I would like to check out and why I was attracted to your vids. Please tell us more of how you are adapting there to the Portuguese culture. I realize this video is one expression of that and is very important. 🙂

The title grabbed my attention. It made me feel less alone. I grew up in 5 USA cities from MD to LA, Chicago to Houston by the time I was 7. Where are you from people would ask and I would be stymied. Existential detachment by 7. As I became an adult its been my choice, not the imposed industrial nomadism of my folks. That helped some. Investing in the community helped. The realization that life will carry on without me is an acceptance of transcendence. I’m grateful that my parents stayed together, that it was violence that propelled us unlike so many on earth. It makes me open to the value of diversity. Thank you. I’m glad you see your husband as home.

Beautiful 💙 and so deep. I think we belong wherever we are in life. I've been in Asia for over 30 years and never have found a place to truly call home except in my heart. I do feel that we all long for that special place of peace and comfort. Looking within sure helps. The world is such a busy place. I love your perspective on life. Lovely content. 💜💕🌺 Earth is our home.
