- Lori Vallow Daybell’s son, Colby Ryan, testified in his mother’s triple murder trial Tuesday. A jailhouse phonecall between Ryan and Daybell was played for jurors in which Ryan tells his mother “I thought I could trust you. I thought that you were a completely different person.” Daybell is accused of killing two of her children, Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow, along with her fifth husband’s late wife, Tammy Daybell.

Her lawyer continuing to point out that she hadn't talked to her son about these crazy beliefs doesn't really land in my opinion. The fact that she only shared it with certain people tells me that she knew it sounded crazy.
That is exactly my thought process too. It clearly points to her trying to hide her crazy.

Lori is seriously the female Manson - just a selfish monster. She is a malignant narcissist who had a series of superficial “marriages” (five in total) and viewed everyone as an extension of HER. She was her own mini cult. She dumped friends who had loved her for years when she wanted to spend time with her married boy toy Chad the potato. She used the psycho Alex to murder others, then used Chad to murder her own children, she wanted the money from Tyler and J. J. but then decided they were in her way. She has left so much destruction in her wake.

Oh no! He has 2 kids? He was requesting Cash app from Tylee (6 payments totaling less than $200 while she was alive) meaning; he is BROKE.
I would never ask a family member for money and especially not a child! 😥 He took money from his little sister. He continued to take her money after she was dead. Lori sent about $5,000 pretending to be Tylee. So he took all that money without ever calling to speak to her (we know that bc she was deceased). He is selfish, loser like his mother. As long as the cashapp was flowing, he would have never called Tylee again. What man with 2 kids ask a 16 y/o for money so much? Lori and her loser son used Tylee to death (literally).
How does somebody wrap their head around the fact that their own Mother has had their siblings killed? Terrible burden to bare. Sending prayers for this young man and his family.
It is very rare for someone to go this crazy/evil overnight. I can't imagine the ongoing crazy he dealt with growing up. Much like the Leticia Stauch situation in Colorado and her daughter trying to survive the crazy/evil.

Charles' murder was also the death of Colby's greatest father figure in his life. Colby essentially went from a close tight knit blended family to becaming an orphan, in the span of 6 months with the arrest of his mother. I thought when Janis and summer were sticking up for Lori in those tv interviews, I really thought Colby was truly alone and shunned by his entire family because he went on the record and surmised something was off with Lori, since she was stonewalling law enforcement.
It's such BS that the public cant watch this trial.

Agreed! It has to be soul crushing. In a way, I understand Chad Daybell's kids, all of whom are clearly in deep denial, in spite of a mountain of evidence, both circumstantial and actual physical evidence. They can't seem to bring themselves to accept that not only is their father a brutal murderer of multiple victims, but that he asphyxiated their own mother Tammy. They all know that he was with their mother when she died, not Alex Cox. Instead, they've all chosen to lay the blame at Lori Daybell's feet.

She keeps saying Colby doesn't know what happened but when he does ask her what happened with his siblings, she never gives him a straight answer so she's contradicting herself.

Do I think she is suffering from it? I don't, I think she's a very dangerous person but narcissists tend to mirror certain disorders or mental health issues to excuse what they did so chances are that someone who she looked up to in her church was probably suffering from it and she saw them having gained power through it so she took on their persona to excuse all the horrible things she has done. That's just my two cents.

It’s just a way to put out any doubt to the jury that she isn’t someone who would harm her children. Which isn’t true, but they will throw out anything they can because it’s their job. They’re going to try and say that she was never violent with her kids, she never mistreated them and raised them in a godly home, etc. They don’t want her seen as someone who’s dangerous or the jury won’t sympathize with her.
It's their job to try and do something. Shows ya how much they got!

The fact that he, as a victim, wasn't allowed to watch or be in the trial...I have no words. I pray that he's able to heal. I can't imagine in my wildest dreams what he's going through.

Isn't that standard? Witnesses in any trial aren't allowed to watch or see any of the other witnesses testimony except for expert witnesses to avoid witnesses changing their story to fit with what was said by other witnesses before they got on the stand. I know there's been trials that had to dismiss witnesses because they saw other witnesses testimony before they themselves got on the stand.

I feel so terrible that this woman did this to his sister and brother. What an evil mother. There is no excuse for what she did. A mother is suppose to protect her children. A mother cares for her children even before they are born and protects them for the rest of their lives. I haven’t had a peaceful nights sleep since I become a mother. I worry about my children everyday and it blows my mind how a mother could kill her children. Then she speaks of Jesus and God. Evil woman. When Colby was being cross examined yesterday it came across to me that They are insinuating how Lori’s beliefs changed after meeting Chad. Looks to me like Chad is gonna be blamed for her extreme new beliefs .

I watched the Netflix documentary about this and the poor son Colby!!!!! He, his wife and daughter had a funeral for their dead siblings and he broke down!!!! God heal this man and his family! I listened to the police officers testimony who carried out the exhumation of those poor innocent children, and how they were found taped and bound with plastic bin bags over JJ's head.

The "job" is to free the guilty period. Create doubt is their number one angle and their law courses taught them all this art of doubt, twisting the facts, skewing the facts any normal sane person can see; all for the goal of their career: make sure they walk; or get a lesser sentence. But they really they get their "win" unless the walk out of the court a free guilty criminal; even though all the evidence only pointed to their client. It is a wander anyone gets convicted in this up is down; and down is up criminal law non justice system. Justice for all the victims and especially Tylee and JJ and Tammy.

Colby has the intelligence, strength and humanity that not a single one of Chad's children has. He lost his entire family, yet he understands the absolute importance of being truthful about what happened, and facing it. Tammy's children are disgraceful. And it isn't her fault.

It's amazing how every time Colby puts Lori on the spot and demands she answer him, she refuses every. single. time. Like when he says something like "Tell me how everything you've done was done in Jesus's name. Please tell me how your actions were for him." Unsurprising there was silence on her end. (And she wouldn't even have to incriminate herself, she could say it in general terms referring to her actions as a whole.) But she's incapable of that because deep down she knows what she did (and conspired to do) was evil. And only done for her and Chad's selfish desires. I mean it's awfully convenient that the spouses of each them who stood in their way of being together just happened to have both been "demons". Same with Lori's kids who stood in her way of freedom. Prosecution should have asked Colby if his Mother allowed him and Tylee to spend time with Joe Ryan unsupervised and how often. Showing that after raking Joe through the mud, affecting him emotionally, financially and in many ways that can't be completely listed.
Lori was confident to allow visits with Joe, both Colby and Tylee.
There was never any evidence that Joe Ryan mistreated either of his kids. This was made up by a vindictive woman. Period.
Her laughter made me see red. It's a shame the death penalty is off the table.

The defense atty, like here, questioned her sister and kept asking the typical Jesus, love, etc questions the Christian religions teach to show what Lori believed in and taught her kids when youngsters. So the LDS is advertising: "Call us and we'll teach you the true meaning of a religion with some odd beliefs - but no longer murderous like these two."
That laughter shows how unhinged she has become.

What’s this guys point (the cross examination lawyer) ? Two things can be true at once. You can protect your children from an abusive parent, and then murder those same children years later alongside a different parent. It doesn’t matter how great of a parent she was before she dated a cult leader and turned religious zealot, she still helped plot their deaths.
It is very telling that Lori did not attempt to brainwash him with all of her zombie, light/dark, etc., stuff. It shows that she was smart enough to realize he would "have her number" and not believe a word of it and might even call in help.

There is no way she ever loved them, she's always loved herself first When she needed money, she had no problem killing them. This entire trial continues to feed her sick psycho narcissism. Chad Dumbbell didn't change her, he just let her monster out of the cage. She's a dangerous evil woman that needs to be jailed for life. Pretty sure they are talking about the step-monster (Leticia Stauch) who murdered her 11 yr old step-son (Gannon Stauch) in a very gruesome & terrible manner.
Leticia has 1 bio child (Harley Hunt) who is now 20 & was 17 at the time her step-brother was murdered by her mother. Harley recently took the stand as a witness testifying for the state.

As a mother I can not understand how you can kill your children and justifying it. That is pure evil. I would die for my children any given moment. Lori and Chad are some evil, evil creatures.

I still think about Colby. His story stays with me, and so does the image that the court room artist captured of him weeping into the tissue. This case is eternal heartbreak.

I think they massively under utilized his knowledge and perspective during questioning. They didn't even bring up the emails he saw from Lorie (or Daybell) about the light/darkness scores, or dive into the murders of both his step dads.
Colby did a wonderful job testifying. It could not have been easy.
Charles Vallow was the ONLY good father to him and he's mother got him killed. My heart is broken for this young man who lost all his loved ones. ❤

Although replaying this is hard for Colby it does give the jury another chance to hear Lori's evil laughter at her son's expense.

Thank god the lawyers had to good sense not to question him further after the recording of him and Lori Daybell was played to the court. Unfortunately for the defense, it has blown their strategy of trying to prove what a great and caring mother she was right out of the water. Insanity is the only plausible defense.

There were cameras in the beginning of the case, pre trial hearings, but they were all focusing too much on Lori and her lawyers asked for them to be removed, they had a hearing about it with a media lawyer making arguments for cameras to continue to be allowed but judge ruled them out for the sake of preventing a biased jury, jury hadn’t been selected yet.
Each state governs differently, and all circumstances are taken into account involving the benefits /disadvantages in the televisement of such cases based on varying factors such as the importance of the case not being jeopardised, the highly sensitive nature of the crime particularly involving violent murders of children, the effects a live camera can have on the witnesses giving testimony which has been proven to negatively effect crucial witnesses especially in those still struggling with mental distress as a direct result of the crimes committed added to that the relentless hounding of witnesses by the media that can only increase such distress not decrease it, and although frustrating, I think they made the right decision in providing audio only that strikes the appropriate balance between the right of the public to be informed and affording ALL the victims, both dead and alive some semblance of much deserved dignity that I fear televising would rob them of. I'm more than willing to sacrifice images if it provides even an iota of relief for the deeply grieving people, both witnesses AND those in the public gallery particularly the grandparents, at the epicenter of this abominable case.

If courts were closed we wouldn't be able to hold states accountable and ensure that they are fair and just. This is the USA, where people have a say in how we are governed. Poor take.
I‘m glad that there aren’t cameras bc lori as a narcissist would be happy for the attention and I think it’s already extremely difficult for colby and other witnesses to give their testimony and it would be even harder to do it in front of the whole world. yes there is a part of sensationalism in me that wants to watch this trial on video but it’s better for all the people involved that it’s not. they already suffered so horribly, I can’t imagine to have such an evil woman as your mother. it’s heartbreaking.
