I have been looking for so long and I just didn’t know you could reduce the flow on the biomaster thank you so much! Instant like and follow looking forward to you other Videos
Great video, I just bought the same model but unfortunately there is no user guide. I was struggling with the skimmer gulping in air bubbles and now this is fixed. These guys should simply include a link to your video 😉
I have the opposite problem. My skimmer always stays on top. Is my filter broken and doesnt push the corect amounts of water? I ve got the oase filtrosmart 200
The best and cheapest is to cut off a piece of coarse filter sponge and insert it into the tube. It will reduce the flow to the surface, but not the power of the filter, as it will have that much more thrust from below. Reducing the inlet at the skimmer sponge will completely eliminate the float rocking and the oily surface will always be gone. Once every two or three months I pull it out with tweezers, clean it and put it back in. Just a really small piece. I use metal tubes so you can't even see the sponge inside. So this is the best solution in my opinion. For someone who has metal tubes, this is brilliant.
Just bought one of these and your video actually really helped. I’m curious though, if you have two filters, would you rather have the inflow on the inside track or closer to the wall ? I have my filter pipes in opposite corners…
thank you for the video, its just not working for me. im not experiencing bobbing, at all, im only experienceing completely sinking of the skimmer or it completely floating on top So apparently as you describe as "the nose" seems to be not breathing at all even with the "mouth" completely closed.. im dumbfounded... water is just squeezing through the cracks... im so frustrated im probably gonna go with another option that saves space and works without dealing with what seems like significant constant fine tuning
Wait a minute! I can decrease flow to the filter from the locking mechanism?! 🤯 I’ve been searching for a way to do this so my plants wouldn’t sway too much as they get taller. Thanks so much!!
@@Peter-nj2in Use a drop checker to monitor co2 levels. You want the checker to be lime green 2-3 hours after the lights turn on. You may have to up your bubble count when reducing flow. But monitor first with a drop checker to be safe and sure
I put an O-ring on the skimmer and left it 0.5mm for maximum swing and that solved it. When it starts to sway, the ring stops it, because it can't go any further and the skimmer stabilizes again.
I use a clear rubber o ring on .the top skimmer tuoe completely stops it bobbing down too low perfect of your not home everyday. You can set it where yiu want it shoud debris block the gills at the bottom as you said mouth
i used zip tie straps so it cant get allarmingly under, but the skimmer still takes in air and is making "weird" noises, also its a major danger as it can suck up your fish.. it happend to me on a smaller tank.. its better case of a bigger tank
@@dorianf1456 Ah, this I want to avoid :) I have silent aquarium and this would kill me. However, by reading some forums seems I’ve found a solution. You need to pump some air under the skimmer head with syringe to prevent bouncing. If there is no air it tends to bounce and eventually sucks down but air will prevent it and stabilizes the skimmer. Need to test it if it’s a long term solution.
So what brand are they? Everyone else seems to know by looking, but I don’t see anything in the description of setups on what they are? Saw your comment about the aquario being better about shrimp and fry, but that one goes on the output? Maybe the GLA set?
I really love your glassware 😍! I would like to get those too, but my biggest worry is how to make it babyfish and shrimp safe. Do you have any tips for that? Have a great weekend 😁
Unfortunately, that’s one of the downsides of these skimmers: babies can easily get sucked up. There’s not a commercially available solution for these pipes, but the latest version of the Aquario New flow pipes are much better for protecting shrimplets and baby fish 😊
@@Shhh...GrammasGaming to me, it does not make sense to have the skimmer on the output. it just ejects the oils and organic crud that's causing the film back to the tank, as opposed to it being processed by the canister filter.
It's not meant to submerge below the surface completely. If there's zero suction from the skimmer portion you can either a) increase the flow on your canister filter or b) close the flow a little on the bottom portion of inflow pipe. This will create more suction up top and get the skimmer working
I have fancy goldfish, so no risk of them to be sucked in through the intake. I have now removed to bottom thingy completely, so I don’t have to decrease the intake too much. But all in all it is a flawed design. They should place the midsection pipe lower for starters.
The best solution is to print the protection on a 3D printer. The swaying is gone due to the slight load and no plant debris from aquarium maintenance goes in and it protects the shrimp from being sucked in ruclips.net/video/inQbokzbtxI/видео.html
I have the some problem I agree also with this. I purchased a filter based on the number of l/h. And now due to the skimmer bouncing I have to reduce the filter flow by half??? It would be better then to purchase the smaller filter and save money .... I'm hating these lily pipers ....

I didn’t know we can adjust the Biomaster flow rate from that locking mechanism. Definitely going to try that, thanks!
That’s one of my favorite features about these filters
That's about the worst thing you can do on a canister filter, as it puts a strain on the motor due to pressure build up.
Great video! Thanks for the tips!
Anytime Darren! 🤘🏼

By: "Corse sponge" are you referring to the same stuff you'd get in a fluval canister and how much are you talking about?
This is really helpful Logan 🤟🤟

Do variables for amount of co2 dispersed stay the same when decreasing flow? Or do I need to adjust the bubbles per second? Thank you! Subscribed!

You can also use small rubber bands or O-rings around the shaft of the skimmer piece to set the height, instead of relying on its buoyancy.

I cant get these to work with a fluval 407. Keeps sucking air matter how its adjusted.
Wish I could offer some help but I’ve never owned that filter

Happy to say it does indeed work

What canister filter are you using?
OASE Biomaster
i just got mine today and cant get it to suck in water from the top?
Do the opposite of everything I suggest in this video to increase suction
Are you running the 12/16mm size pipes on your 60U or the 16/22mm?
12/16 mm on all my tanks
@@LoganRandoAquascapinghow do you get this to fit onto bio master with smaller tubing?
You can also just clean the pipe and it can fix it too
