With proper technique, three cups of Glossostigma elatinoides are sufficient for a 60cm tank. Planting in small clusters may cause vertical growth instead of horizontal spread via runners, leading to less compact coverage and an increased risk of melting. As a result, the lower layers of the carpet near the substrate become hollow, while the upper layers grow more densely compacted.

These videos are always eye opening yet also frustrating. I'm coming from the reef keeping world and am starting a UNS 60U soon, going for a very peaceful zen-like tank. The reason I say these can be frustrating is because you see one video saying here's how to avoid X, Y and Z and then later on there's a video for I got X, Y and Z anyways. The ups, downs and unpredictability of aquarium keeping.

Diatoms have been a HUGE pain in my as$. Every tank I have has struggled with diatoms at one point but taking time to go through and clean it off the glass, my plants (huge pain but if I loosen it my mystery snails will eat the rest), rocks, etc once a week eventually it stops returning. Lots of patience that’s for sure! Thanks for sharing your techniques
