Yeah, this is the video that finally helped me conceptualize what exactly I should be doing when starting out in this game. My first colony pre-tutorial ended up with all of my colonists being mauled by a bear and some guy named "T" that I called Mr. T came in randomly and took over for the three dead ones until he suffered a mental break and died. This video will hopefully let me get past the first week lol

@@endymaximus5846 I can say that Jad is easily one of the best that describes the mechanics of the game to the newcomer.. I kickstarted the game and I wish there was someone like her in the early days to lay things out.
Wow. Well spoken/explained, easy to understand and pleasant voice. No crazy fast cuts and jumps between scenes. No meme bombardment.. Incredible job! Very pleasant to watch!
Just want to take amoment to say thank you, Your guide was very approachable and gave just the right amount of information. I was struggling with others.
Thank you. After trying to watch so many beginner friendly tutorials, this was probably the most clear, detailed, and just overall well produced. This really helped me to break down the initial learning curve of this game and not feel too overwhelmed.
Oh, and would be cool to see another "next steps" video that could show how or where to progress! I feel like there is so much to do in this game but finding out the little nuances can take a lot of time!

Beginners: WATCH THIS ONE. I tried watching a bunch of others but had no idea what was going on. They were way more advanced. This is the only one that set me up to feel equipped for playing.
I've tried so many tutorials for Rimworld and this has been the best so far. This is the only one that I've found that focuses solely on mechanics. Well done!
Thank you so much, I just got the game as a gift but haven't downloaded it bc of being intimidated by it , I love to watch other RUclipsrs. I'll make sure to keep an eye on more videos 😁
I had only watched like 1 video prior to buying Rimworld, it was some crazy challenge like -get back to earth from space- or something along those lines & I just bought it today and immediately got hooked but also got confused by the games mechanics, Thank you for the comprehensible tutorial on how to begin, cant wait to screw up my first few worlds while I learn! :D
This is a really well done tutorial! If any of my friends ask me to show them how to play Rimworld I will link them this video. I have 4k+ hours in Rimworld over the years, so I kinda forgot what a total newcomer needs to learn to be able to play.
A good video, detailed and informative. I'm many many hours into rimworld, but it never hurts to watch basic guides, you can always learn something new. I, for one, would very much like to see more guides or even a let's play series from you. I find them soothing as well as entertaining.
Another new player, just purchased with both dlcs ( what have I got myself into ) am already a cities skylines addict ugh, your tutorial is best I've watched so far, so YES more and more please 😀 another sub gained
Much luck to you. Rimworld is still a brutal game even for experienced people. So don't be sad if your people die. Here is a good hint. IF you lose colonists, bury them in a sarcophagus. If done right, it not only allows your people to give less mood debuff by leaving them unburied. But it also preserves the body. With a resurrector serum (a rare item you can get) You can bring back the dead if they aren't decayed yet
I have been sharing this video with all of the people I see trying to get into RimWorld after the most recent expansion was released. Its full of great info, and you can basically follow along and have a functional colony at the end of the video. Great job!
Currently I have nearly 1400 hours in Rimworld, all the DLCs and used many, many different mods before - and on a whim I decided to watch this tutorial just for that feeling when you're just learning a game. And turns out I actually learned some things I didn't know about (like right-clicking Allow to allow all items, and what stored/excess power means). Great video!
A small thing i usually do, at 20:41 you show a pretty big berry bush area, drag a grow zone around it and then disable sowing, your pawns will automatically harvest berry bushes and wont destroy or plant new stuff there.
I get that the game is initially a bit complicated to learn but it took way too long to find this video to learn the basics. So many other videos are either skipping tons of stuff or going so fast, nothing is ever truly broken down. This was a great watch, Exactly what I needed. Thanks for the help!
So glad to find your channel! I started RimWorld a while ago (earlier this year) and there was not a lot of in depth guides that were well put together. This taught me some stuff I wasn't clear on and is awesome to learn with :D
Great video! Thank you! I've got over 1,000 hours in this game and I will tell anyone willing to listen to me about how they should play it! I feel I finally have a really good video I could share with them on how to get started. Keep up the great content!
Your videos have been incredibly helpful at getting me acclimated to how the game works. For example, I completely forgot how to find the "Bills" button after completing the tutorial. I know you have several great videos highlighting fun and beneficial mods, but I would be interested if you would consider creating a video recommending how to get started with mods. I got overwhelmed with all the choices available, especially if I'm just looking for a few basic QoL improvements that won't break the overall balance. Thanks for your wonderful content!
I'm so glad to hear this! I hope you are having so much fun with the game! The second video I ever posted on RUclips was called "Top 5 Essential Mods for Vanilla Gameplay" which is what I think you're looking for :) it's here: ruclips.net/video/UQTvfB056o8/видео.html - it's a lower quality vid than nowadays since I was still figuring out how to make videos lol, so I should prob make an updated one, BUT, I still highly recommend the 5 mods in that vid for players new to modding!!
Just got Rimworld and this was probably one of the best Beginners videos i have found!! There is so much to figure out that it felt a bit overwhelming and this really gave me a starting point...super excited to put all this to use, thank you!!!
Looks like it's been awhile since this was posted, having just got this game, this is seriously the best "I know nothing about this game" beginner toturial I could find. Seriously, thank you! As someone who truly has never played a colony sim, I was a bit overwhelmed going into this, this video helped out a ton.
I have a good amount of friends who enjoys my rimworld tales but never gave a chance due to the learning curve of the game, now thanks to this tutorial I can finally convince them to start their first hat making companies, amazing work
I've looked at a lot of these and this is the only vid that is an actual beginner's guide. This could very well just be a new, extended, in-game tutorial. Thanks for this.
So glad you found it useful!! A lot of time and love went into making it because I know how overwhelming this game can seem at the beginning. You're very welcome and good luck!!
Playing on console, I paid £35 was concerned straight away as it seems intimidating at first, thanks to you I think I've got a basic grasp on the fundamentals. Very entertaining game. Subscribed. ❤
This was supper helpfull!! I allways try to teach friends about my favorite games when they start to play them, and as i normally tend to complex games like this its easy for them to get overwhelmed with too much info, so i normally use this kind of slow and relaxed aproach, so glad to find someone doing it for me. Thanks a lot, loved it!
This is a very informative and clearly presented guide. I’m sure this will help out many new players get even more out of such a great game. Thank you for creating such a valuable resource, Jadz!
I agree!! I think it might turn some people away who would undoubtedly LOVE it if they gave it a fair shot! Thank you for checking out the vid even though you don't need it yourself :)
Hands down the best Rimworld guide on the internet. Structured and perfectly concise! Unlike most other guides that I've seen today. I couldn't watch past a couple of minutes of those due to sheer uninformative and time wasting ''entertainment'' where they the fact that their videos are labeled as ''guides'' is mostly left ignored.
I discovered your channel with the video shortly describing what's in update 1.3, and since then I've watched quite a few videos of yours. You have great editing, a nice voice and go straight to the point to provide clear and concise explanations, thank you for all of this!
Great overview for beginning players! I have 2,796 hours in the game and I am constantly telling my friends how amazing the game is. This is my new "go watch this" video for all my friends that are willing to try but are worried about the steep learning curve. I would love to see a tips/tricks video from you and a defense one as well. I am boring as I normally build a triangular kill box with a trap maze approach (and double walls for sappers). I also just got the new expansion (which is how I found your channel), so an additional tip/trick video for the 2 expansions would be awesome. Keep up the great content and you will get lots of new subscribers (like me).
Great video. Rimworld was good to learn by oneself when I started (so like... 2014-2015?) but now just the scale of different mechanics can be overwhelming and many youtubers aren't very good at making it less confusing. It is so worth playing and its great someone is creating comprehensive beginner materials!
This was super helpful, thank you! Most of the other beginner's guides got way too deep into higher-level concepts when I was just struggling to learn how to play the game. Thanks!
This was an awesome tutorial, thank you! It was super easy to understand, and had the bonus feature of displaying an unspoken lesson of life on the Rim--unexpected events!
I really really hope you explode! It's very rare that you get a female gamer RUclipsr, and one this good. Your tutorials are great. Keep up the good work!
Very good tutorial! The only things I believe are missing are: how to mine (mining for resources and mining for extra space) and tree cutting. Maybe flooring/smoothing (beauty management) is also helpful, because people starting this game forget to do this as soon they are stable. Anyway, this video is very good. I will use it to show to my friends how Rimworld works as a beginner.
Thank god we're able to pause this game! I'm starting to realize for the first 50-100 hours of playing the game I'll be spending half of that time on RUclips and other sites trying to find as many tips about the game as possible. Despite watching this video last night I instantly felt stuck as soon as I loaded up my first game today. However, I can't help but give this game a 10/10 for realism right away for the simple fact that my girlfriend and her mother are doing all the work.. as MY CHARACTER just walks around aimlessly as though he doesn't have any goals worth accomplishing in his life! The truth definitely hurts.. but the game couldn't have been anymore realistic when it comes to my actual life! 🤣
best tutorial i can find so far! the information is easy to digest and really well organized. curious its not higher up on the list. youtube please push this video up! also, +15 found a good tutorial on how to play Rimworld.
I wish I had this so long ago. Now I have something to send friends when we start a MP run or they're brand new. Thank you for this! Love all your videos.
You can not imagine how useful this video is! Im just starting as a newbie to this game and this video value is tremendous! Im not scared now to dive into my first game... THANKS
This is the best entry level learning curve video I've seen on the subject. Well presented and clearly spoken and to the point. For real thank you for just relaying information and having a script.
Hi, thanks for this tutorial, as an absolute beginner it really helps me ! You speak really clearly so as a French I manage to easily understand what you say, I will watch your other videos for sure !
I'm just starting to play around with the expansion content of Rimworld. Thanks for your help in getting the most out of the game. Your videos have been quite informative.
Like many others here, I have over 300+ hours in this game. I have both DLC's and play with a lot of mods (which change often.) Often, when I build, I am in God mode as I enjoy the building and designing more than the grinding and waiting aspect (personal choice.) This video showed me a lot of information that I wished I knew when I started playing Rimworld! It would have saved me a lot of time, in the beginning, trying to figure the basics out! Thank you!
Great guide. Pretty much covers everything a beginner needs to know from early to mid game. Another beginner friendly tip would be choosing to auto pause the game whenever a danger event happens. Also, the ingredient radius slider helps with stonecutting and butchering. Looking forward to the strategy vid. Keep it up!
@@Jadziax You're welcome. I'm not certain with the latest versions, but I remember the auto pause is only for major threats option and not the any threat one. Helped me save a lot of my pawns from muffalos.
Thanks for the video Jadz! :) I feel like this tutorial was a good refresher for me as well even though I already have a bit of previous experience. I am really waiting for the Ideology DLC!
I just wanted to say thank you for your beginner tutorial for Rimworld. It helped me to understand the basics and make the game more enjoyable to play.
I'm very happy for finding your channel. Rim is one of my fav games and there're few channels with a good entertainer narrator just like you.!! Hope to see soon a new gameplay with Ideology :)
Just found this video as im curious about rimworld , i wanted to say the delivery was perfect! Nice and slow as well as very informative. Absolutely fantastic work!
I did the in game tutorial, as well as watched multiple beginner tutorial videos in my free time, yet still found myself feeling a bit clueless and anxious playing the game. But this video totally made everything click. You really helped not just explain, but show the flow of mechanics and early gameplay in a way that was so easy to digest. ADHD keeps me from really grasping systems and mechanics when theyre being explained to me if the person is even slightly boring or bad at teaching - so kudos! This helped me enjoy the game and stop being intimidated. TYSM!!!
Wow, this means so much to me! It's definitely a lot to wrap your head around early game, and I am soo glad this tutorial helped you get into things! I've gotten so much fun out of the game, the thought that I'm able to help others to do the same totally makes my day :)
Fantastic video, I am sending to my friends to get them interested in Rimworld. I love how you divided up the video and made it easy to find and skip to a section.
A bit late to the comment party but just wanted to mention that despite my 300 hours into this game, this video was incredibly useful and has made playing the game so much easier for me.
My last 2 videos before landing here were of two men, one was concerned more about making me laugh instead of explaining the game; the other make a video longer than yours and I was almost sleeping. BUT thankfully women exist, otherwise we could not be able to find tidy, simple explained and quality contents! Look at that timeline, AAAH I love you so much XD
I was looking for a basic video which helps me further after the ingame tutorial, and all videos I found failed - except yours. 😊 fantastic for a beginner. Thank you!

I have close to 300 hours to the game, and I'm still learning with this video !
Excellent tutorial
Thanks so much!! So glad you found it helpful :)
This video was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much!
I really really hope you explode! It's very rare that you get a female gamer RUclipsr, and one this good. Your tutorials are great. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much, that is so kind of you to say!
Ahh if only I started playing this game 1 month later... Great vids
Lol! Hopefully it can help future newcomers to the Rim! Thanks for checking it out :)
I'm starting to realize for the first 50-100 hours of playing the game I'll be spending half of that time
on RUclips and other sites trying to find as many tips about the game as possible. Despite watching this video last night I instantly felt stuck
as soon as I loaded up my first game today. However, I can't help but give this game a 10/10 for realism right away for the simple fact that my
girlfriend and her mother are doing all the work.. as MY CHARACTER just walks around aimlessly as though he doesn't have any goals worth
accomplishing in his life! The truth definitely hurts.. but the game couldn't have been anymore realistic when it comes to my actual life! 🤣
And now my character decided to go around starting random fires like a complete maniac! Sheeeeesh!
best tutorial i can find so far! the information is easy to digest and really well organized.
curious its not higher up on the list. youtube please push this video up!
also,
+15 found a good tutorial on how to play Rimworld.
Thanks so much :)
I've watched several beginner tutorials (many made in the last few months) this one is by far the best. Cheers
I wish I had this so long ago. Now I have something to send friends when we start a MP run or they're brand new. Thank you for this! Love all your videos.
Thank you so much!! For watching, and for the kind words & encouragement!
Thanks for this! I have 300 hours clocked and have forgotten about some of this stuff
I've watched quite a few Rimworld tutorial videos and this one is the best one I have seen. I now think I am ready to finally start Rimworld.
New to the game and this is by far the most helpful intro guide I've found; thank you! :-) Please do more!
Thanks so much, that means a lot! Good luck!
You can not imagine how useful this video is! Im just starting as a newbie to this game and this video value is tremendous! Im not scared now to dive into my first game... THANKS
I've played Rimworld since its early access release but still learned something new from this video. Good one. :)
This is the best entry level learning curve video I've seen on the subject.
Well presented and clearly spoken and to the point.
For real thank you for just relaying information and having a script.
as someone who has always wanted to play rimworld and decided to buy it yesterday i can say this video was SO helpful to me. thank you!!!
Hi, thanks for this tutorial, as an absolute beginner it really helps me !
You speak really clearly so as a French I manage to easily understand what you say, I will watch your other videos for sure !
I am so glad you found it helpful :D good luck on the rim!!
I was hesitant to buy Rimworld, but this video really demystified the mechanics. Thank you so much!!
Yes, please give it a try!! You wouldn't regret it, it is so much fun!
Great job taking the reigns and pushing out solid content. Godspeed in your journey.
Thanks, I appreciate you!
I'm just starting to play around with the expansion content of Rimworld.
Thanks for your help in getting the most out of the game. Your videos have been quite informative.
I'm so glad to hear this😊 thanks for watching and good luck!!
fantastic tutorial! i wish i'd found a video like this when i was first playing rimworld lol would have saved me hours of confusion!
You're too kind!!
❤️
I have been following that game for years but this video might actually make me finally purchase it. Thank you for the amazing content!
Omg, you need this game. Truly. You won't be sorry!
After having not played the game in like 2 years, this was exactly the video I needed to refresh my memory! Thanks!
Like many others here, I have over 300+ hours in this game.
I have both DLC's and play with a lot of mods (which change often.) Often, when I build, I am in God mode as I enjoy the building and designing more than the grinding and waiting aspect (personal choice.)
This video showed me a lot of information that I wished I knew when I started playing Rimworld! It would have saved me a lot of time, in the beginning, trying to figure the basics out!
Thank you!
A really complete and well made video with the highlights being very useful, thank you for the work you put in these!
Thank you so much for the nice words and for watching!!
Keep it up!
I definitely agree on the pausing! I think that is on by default though.... or at least I hope it is lol. Thank you for the nice comment!
Thanks so much for watching! I'm looking forward to the DLC tooooo
Awesome thanks you! I couldn’t figure out the basics and was getting frustrated. This is a perfect introduction and got me going! Now I’m hooked!
I just bought this game a few days ago so this was incredibly helpful and straight to the point! Thank you so much!
You're so welcome! I'm glad it helped you get into the game! :)
I just wanted to say thank you for your beginner tutorial for Rimworld. It helped me to understand the basics and make the game more enjoyable to play.
I'm very happy for finding your channel. Rim is one of my fav games and there're few channels with a good entertainer narrator just like you.!! Hope to see soon a new gameplay with Ideology :)
thanks so much! I can't wait for Ideology to come out!!
Just found this video as im curious about rimworld , i wanted to say the delivery was perfect! Nice and slow as well as very informative.
Absolutely fantastic work!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you found it useful!! :)
Thanks for this. Very well put together and it helped me to get into the game as I've been having troubles doing it on my own.
Yay, I'm soo glad you found it useful!
I already have 1000 hours in this game but I'll watch it anyway.
Thank you for the support, I really appreciate that :)
After about 20 hours of playing I was like "I better watch a tutorial" And oh my god did I miss a lot. Honestly thanks for this video, massive W.
Fantastic video, I am sending to my friends to get them interested in Rimworld. I love how you divided up the video and made it easy to find and skip to a section.
Super useful video. THANKS! I was about ready to give up on trying this and your video gave me hope!
I love this game, never played all the through but it's such a cool design and so much freedom
I had more than 1500hrs in this game and still picked up some things interesting in your video. Great tutorial!
A bit late to the comment party but just wanted to mention that despite my 300 hours into this game, this video was incredibly useful and has made playing the game so much easier for me.
Omg, I'm honored to hear this! Hi again by the way, I recognize you from my last stream! But I'm just super late to this comment lol oops
Built in tutorial was so bad. Thanks for this. I feel better equipped to tackle the game now.
Thank you!
