This is all fault of Eric Kripke, all the things he couldn't do on Supernatural bc of Cw restricted content rules, he is doing it on here, he just wants to put crazy shit bc the sake of it at the expenses of the plot
anybody who says this does not look at the show on a deep enough level, everybody that understands that this show is a case study of narcissists in a grey area appreciates the show for many reasons
My real problem with The Boys is that… nothing has happened… In season 1, they killed Translucent. In season 2, they killed Stormfront. In season 3, nothing ended up happening, but it has an awesome cliffhanger that made you think Homelander would change in season 4 to become more openly ruthless. But in season 4 that didn’t happen. There are no stakes anymore. We know the main characters aren’t going to die. We know that Homelander isn’t going to die (even though that’s the whole point of the show). So what’s the point? There’s only so many times the writers can make us think “ohh Homelander’s gonna snap” before it loses its impact. I honestly lost it at that battle between The Boys and The Deep/Black Noir in the penultimate episode. I thought that somebody might die, but no it was a pointless battle. If they aren’t willing to increase the stakes and actually remove this stupid plot armour, then this show is done for. They’re just stretching out this show for too long. The Boys, originally a satire of superhero franchises like Marvel, has basically become exactly that. At this point, just kill Homelander already.
Battle in the Boys HQ made it so A-Train had to save everybody and expose himself as the leak. Plot moved forwards. You don't need to kill a character to move the plot.
@@thepillowhead2453not really, if anything it proved it. they kill off a character that had so much background building up that led to nothing. a pointless kill for shock value, which is all that season 5 will be, one after one after one meaningless death. Not to mention not one of “the boys” actually died when getting arrested, why would homelander want even one of them to survive. It makes absolutely no sense to kill only Neuman other than to clean up a loose end of a character they had no idea what to do with
One of my biggest disappointments with the season is how they completely abandon the compelling cliffhanger of season 3. Homelander killed someone in BROAD DAYLIGHT, and he just goes to trial and gets let go. My issue isn't that he was let go. I get that the show is supposed to show the rich and powerful get away with everything, however, you CAN NOT convince me the rest of the world would see that and just let it slide. If supers are killing people in America, other countries would not feel safe or happy about that, and would be taking SOME kind of action to make sure their country doesn't become a target.
That's what bothers me the most about the show, it's that the public lets so much shit slide like it's nothing, piled on season after season, and they still believe Vought, like you can't be serious lol
I feel like you might have missed the point, the scene is meant to show that Homelander WON’T face consequences no matter what he does because the people are on his side. As for the rest of the world, they didn’t do shit when Homelander was actively interfering in overseas wars back in season two, why would they suddenly be so shocked that Homelander killed one American dude?
@@saucevc8353 Yes we get that but I just wish it got more focus in the earlier episodes of the season to make that compelling and believable, So much of the marketing (like the first clip shown was homelander in a mirror preparing his defense for the trial) and parts of gen v(one of the worst things the series produced imo) showed the news covering it like crazy only for it to be resolved off screen in episode one bro. I feel like the show just gave up on trying to make vought feel like a believable company and made them the Republican Party. When a supe fucked up in the first season like translucent death we saw vought enact all these schemes and wait for the perfect time to give a believable story/lie about his death and make their oversea interference seem justified. Now they just straight up go Nuh uh photoshop wasn’t us and ppl just eat it up (Like season two on the v being leaked Edgar just went Nuh uh wasn’t me I didn’t know about it, it was the conveniently now dead coo of our company with rogue scientists, and ppl just didn’t question it 😂) The show has a common trait of setting up interesting plot lines and then just dumping them like with black noir or homelander getting old.
Well, the "on their side" part is dependent on how they view him, if that changed, you would expect the support to change as well, mindlessly supporting someone, even in the real would, has limits @saucevc8353
Vocal minority my friend most of us just want the show to go somewhere and not be a flat circle I personally thought this was going to be the scorched earth season but instead it feels like a filler seasonbefore the stuff actually happens
@lockhunter6956 I get what you mean, in the trailers leading up to it I was expecting a full war, and what we got was... well, its just felt kinda underwhelming.
@@reedbecker Shoehorning it as "woke" because you can't understand satire or irony is both hilarious and sad. Must be strange to be someone who's proud of their own ignorance, lmao
For me it felt like Season 1-3 asked the question "What if superheroes were products owned by corporations." Where as season 4 felt like it asked the question "What if soundbites from American politics in 2016 were said by superheroes."
Yeah it's double ironic that the corporations are the ones that want these sound bites to half the population and are owned by the government. Another onion to peel back from the onion is that Thanos is made to be a sympathetic villain.... That wants to end half the universe.
Finally someone who doesn’t dick ride this show and actually calls it out for the blatant BS it pulls every single episode. Also glad I’m not the only one who hates Sage.
The part with Homelander and being annoyed with being surrounded by yes men and then being mad at the fact that he isn’t is the whole point. Homelander doesn’t know what he wants. He wants people who challenge him but when they do he gets mad because them challenging him hurts his ego.
The whole point which defeats the established character that he had in earlier seasons. He is well aware of what he made in the company grounds hence the character assassination mentioned in the video. He is growing backwards because being aware should be the pinnacle of homelander, not reverting to being insecure or a confused child. HL was formidable because he knows what he can do while backed up with his unmatched strength. He is now less threatening than when the series started.
I thought killing his lab "buddies", the split personalities, being a "father" figure actually means something, I felt like that was the implication but it looks like if homelander a little bit become more competent a writer can't handle the character so it getting reset go for that easy, he's ruining things cause he's dumb dumb & unsecure with ego. Then here is the big brain girl with the magical we actually did it cause you aren't changed & still incompetent yey clap clap clap for you breastmilker
@CineBites1picking her up as a member of any team is a dangerous game to play tho cuz she can help you in the short term sure, but at the end of the day her goals are what matters most to her in the long term and nobody can even comprehend what she’ll be willing to do to accomplish them and how she’ll do it
@@CineBites1 Of course but the issue is trusting her, You cannot trust her at all and I think Edgar and even Butcher knew that, she is always self-centered and looking to screw over everyone because she thinks of herself as not only a supe-supremacist but she thinks she is superior to everyone else.
This aint criticism its not the show can do this to improve its...this is bad half of the complaints are stupid shit like "This is woke trash" I think the pacing is a bit off its not as hype as season 3 but thats pretty much it rest of it is pretty much fine talking about its bad is crazy when its better than most of whats on television is crazy
@ellementisinyourwalls things coming out of nowhere like starlights pregnancy and butcher using blue compound v, also everything that happened to Hughie in episode 6 after Hughies dad died, most of the villains are just racist white trash because the creators ran out of ideas, Frenchies arc being recycled from season 3 but with a boyfriend that has no personality and is in it for 5 minutes, some of the dialogue sounds like it was written by Twitter user, also the creators said Hughies sa was played for laughs, yes some people that don't like the season say stupid shit, but people saying the show is still peak is crazy. Homelander, butcher and A train carry the season hard
@Tristanwoods20189 So your argument is things coming out of nowhere aka new information like none of the information makes sense we see starlight and hughie having sex like since season 2 without protection sorry if you didnt know this but WHEN YOU DO THAT YOU CAN BE BECOME PREGNANT also there was so many theories about how butcher could survive if he took compound v so he just took it and to his suprise it didnt help not too big a revelation its actually tragic the stuff that happend to hughie was done undercover worse shit has happend before in the show idk if yall remember this but didnt homelander rape becca like this aint new for the show at all noone laughs at hughie for this except the writers its seen as deplorable and they kill tek knight and torutre him for it the villians have always been inherently racist homelanders been racist since season 2 I can see where people are coming with frenchies arc but as a character driven show you have to find something to do with him alot of this seasons theme is facing the mistakes you made in your past and frenchie did kill a ton of people and its never gone really punished for him besides externally so they tapped into it for him its barely even that impactful on the season and dosent mess with the run time either so who cares shows dosent have to be peak but the scale isnt PEAK or SHIT show can still be good and just not be the best shit ever idk why everyones tryna act like the boys is so bad now when its literally fine

Ive been liking season 4 the only bad this is that I think the plot is not really moving foward at the pace of season 1 and 2 instead a similar pace to season 3.

Don't make claims that you can't even back up, c'mon.
I think season 4 has been alright but the show has lost its nervousness factor like in season 1 or 2 where any main character could just die and homelander was so unpredictable, but now we haven't lost a character in like how long and the plot doesn't seem to progress besides the supe virus. season 5 could probably save this but that is my only problem
They copped out a lot i know what you mean. Just like how they didnt kill soldier boy or ryan at the end of season 3. One of them had to die. Neither did. Maeve didnt die either. Neuman died but now theres leaks that it was a shifter neuman. Like i hope not. A train got his redemption arc and didnt die. MM didnt die. Butcher didnt die (and they teased his death), Annie realistically should have died in season 4 and she didnt die either. Oh and Firecracker is still alive. Why? What will they do with her in S5? Is she gonna spew more alex jones rhetoric and have another starlight sub arc which leads to her death? If so, why even retread that water right away when it just happened? Theres no stakes. Its terrible. I hope season 5 shows more better writing.
HL is still gonna try to take over in the show, actually. i just dont think theyre gonna kill every one. make kimiko and MM will survive, but i dont see frenchie survivng at all.

I glad someone else is critiquing the show for poor writing and not just going on about the “woke” aspects of it. A prime example to me of bad writing and missed opportunity was the that firecracker was a creep. It’s used in one scene and is never mentioned again after the fact. They could’ve done something with it to make us dislike the character more or could’ve done a good commentary female predators and yet it’s never brought up again.
The show also mentioned a chick who "froze a guy's dick off," so the show seems vaguely aware that they exist. But just that; vaguely aware that they exist.
I agree that more should have been made of this but equally it’s another on the nose critique of this populist-conservatism that the US has. You can totally see a public figure to the right of the political spectrum sexually assaulting a child and being able to get away with it by just using the words “woke deep state”, hell one of the two presidential candidates is a sex felon
@@ey1615 "The woke aspects are inherently tied to bad writing though" no they are not. Its just pathetic attempts by youtubers to get views on their videos. the show has been woke from the start. the problem is s4 lacks a strong storyline. s4 was mostly satire.

I’m glad someone else believes that The Boys has fallen off. That whole ice rink scene was just dumb, especially when you consider the fact that Hughie should have been dead at the end of it. While Homelander didn’t know exactly where Hughie was along the section of vent he was crawling across, he did know which vent Hughie was in, which is why he lasers across it, but for some reason, Homelander doesn’t just cut that entire section of vent in half with Hughie in it, and just conveniently stops at random areas. Then there is also the fact that A-Train can just pick up Hughie at 900 mph, make a dozen turns, and have Hughie be completely fine. Remember how in season 1 there was a scene with a support group of people who were injured or disabled by supes, which established how fragile a human is in comparison to a Supe in The Boys universe, and how you can’t exactly expect a superhero with super speed or strength to just swoop you up, and you be absolutely fine? Well that scene, and every other scene that established how incompatible a normal human and getting saved by a super powered being are, were negated by A-Train being able to pick up Hughie and him being fine without ending up like wheelchair lady, or a person who stuck their head out the side window of a plane traveling at 700 mph. (Tek Knight breaking a woman’s back)
@@ralfderwerwurm6960 Easiest answer to this questions is what If A-train's super speed defies the laws of physics. Homelander flying doesn't make any fucking logical sense, so neither does A-train's running. And it's a show about Superheros. Who gives a flying fuck about inertia

@@michaelhawkins7389 I usually like more character driven shows but the writers just put the characters in the same stuff they’ve been doing for 3 seasons now (kimiko and frenchie being the obvious ones) like mm still being an ocd wreck (which I thought wouldn’t be as bad anymore since they packed up soldier boy who was the root of his ocd) who wants to escape with his family and spend time with Janine. The show clearly never had the juice to run for 5 seasons with 3 spin offs and a movie and it’s showing. I just want it to get a satisfying conclusion and not waste time on meaningless spin offs. Also yah I agree boys season 3 was dope I just didn’t like the finale making the season feel kinda pointless and Hughie getting absolutely character assasinated.
The only point you seem to be missing is the A-train’s story arc. No, he doesn’t go for the “I wanna help them but I’m also scared of Homelander so I can be a good guy boohoo 😢”, he gets ups and downs like any real person would do, and in post seasons he doesn’t care about helping the boys more than anything he wants to screw them over just as the other Seven. It was the events in season 3 (his brother getting crippled) that made him rethink his actions and consequently start a change of character. It seems like you’ve watched with such bad faith that you missed the entire point of his participation on that season
The A-Train redemption arc is one of the most genuine and best parts of this season imo. I kinda wish that they hadn't had to spell out the moment with the little boy when he dropped MM off at the hospital though. It happening spoke enough for itself, and I feel like in previous seasons, they respected the viewers intelligence to know that we'd figure it out on our own.
On top of that, he ignored why A-Train really went in a redemption arc. When he saved MM from a heart attack and put him on a stretcher, the reaction of that kid being starstruck seeing A-Train save a human being got to him. It made him reconsider everything up to that point and doubled down instead of just screwing over homelander and vought. Thats why his redemption arc is so well recieved.
@@icequeensamwich9309 " I kinda wish that they hadn't had to spell out the moment with the little boy when he dropped MM off at the hospital though" you say that knowing very well that it still got over a lot of peoples head but i get you ,it does feel bit heavy handed

i'm very far left and i found it annoying but there's already too much "the boys is woke" videos out and i thought the critique of the season deserved another angle not wieghed down by identity politics.

Agreed in every aspect. It pains me to see so many people claiming the show got bad because it got "too woke". Its very nice that some people still understand the actual writing issues that sadly slowly ruin the show, not "wokeness". In my opinion they should have just wrapped it up with season 3 and killing homelander there. The issues of him not just murdering all of the boys got a little ridiculous in season 2 already and sesason 3 was stretching it very far with the ending. Now the boys is just a shallow boring shell of what it was in the beginning with the plot just going in circles forever. The corporate greed of capitalizing on a franchise that got big sadly almost always outweighs the possibility of an amazingly written story i suppose.
Damn sucks you see it that way because I'm enjoying the hell out of it, despite some of that bad writing choices. I guess I just don't look to deep into it since this has always been a goofy toilet humor type of show
THIS!!!!! Since Season 3 ending, my appeal to show has dramatically dropped. However watching Season 3 back, I think my appeal actually dropped with the expectation the ending was going to go somewhere for it to just go back to the issues the protagonist had in Season 2. I'm not a fan of the amount of the humour either. It feels less funny and more questionable sexual activities which I end up just skipping now. I missed the shock factor, the fear, to now just 'ugh not this again.'
I don't know man, The Boys doesn't seem like it's changed all that much to me. It's always had gross, over-the-top gore and humor. There's been some fun reveals and good acting bits, but I don't think I'd ever praise it for phenomenal writing, even back in season 1. Your examples are a little off too. Robin was DESIGNED for the audience to like her because she's murdered so early on. They want you to empathize with Hughie's loss. So comparing her to a future sub-plot romance of a completely different character is a bit irrelevant. Also, terrible take on Game of Thrones. It ended poorly, sure, but it was the biggest show for years and effectively changed television culture. Diminishing its impact because the ending was bad kind of reflects poorly on your opinions. "Forgotten like Game of Thrones"? You mean the show HBO has a current prequel series based on and two more in the works because they're desperate to recapture the success of the original? Totally forgotten...

And also what do u mean by "designed" u mean well written ? except that thing with colin is the whole reason a main character was absent through an entire episode. i dont think the colin thing was well written at all, i honestly found it really annoying. we all knew right from the beginning it wouldnt work. maybe if they didnt reveal it from the start! but left some clues along the way.
The show treated rape differently in the first season than this one. First season rape is something serious and sad. This season, it's actually hilarious, haha hughie is assaulted, so funny
I too noticed the overabundance of male nudity and absence of female nudity, and got annoyed by it. They never miss a chance to include male nudity, I've been observing this pattern since season 3.

S4's finale was incredible, and personally I'm a fan of A Train FINALLY getting his redemption arc, but honestly, the rest of the season was pretty mid. It's nice to see someone with genuine critiques, because I feel like I've got this weird necessity to defend this past season, because of all the "The Boys have gone woke" bs that's been all over the internet, as though the show hasn't always been this way. (Like people being mad about Frenchie and Colin, not bc the relationship is poorly written, with low stakes that never go anywhere, but because Colin is a man, completely ignoring that Frenchie has been openly bisexual since S1. Like, anyone with eyes could tell he wasn't fucking up watching Mallory's grandkids for "just a friend".)
I think the problem starts with season 2, bigbunjeee made two amazing videos about the problems with the boys (while also adding lots of really edgy jokes)
Agreed, those videos are good (despite the borderline antisemitism). Another good video that talks about how shit season 4 is Sheev Talks’ video “The Boys is an awful show”.
Hughie got raped and the writers saw it as a joke. And people call this show woke? Nothing woke about laughing at rape victims. Kripke is everything he criticizes. A hypocrite. When starlight was raped, he showed it as a horrible thing (it is), but now hughie was raped and its hilarious????

Season 4 had some really good moments sprinkled in. I think because this is the first season they're really working off the script there's gonna be a few growing pains. But the season finale convinced me they got their shit together and are ready to wrap it up in season 5. Can't wait.
@@CineBites1 And now that I walked you through to the logical conclusion (which was my point) you pretend like I don't understand your simplistic point. Nice try.
Not gonna lie this entire video felt like nitpicking. Homelander is not stupid, he knows this is the work culture he’s cultivating. He’s trying to change that and empower his team so he can have more people on his side when he goes to overthrow the government. The show isn’t aimless at all and by introducing the supe supremacist in Sister Sage they further pushed this along. The show doesn’t feel aimless, They are pushing straight to the grand finale where Homelander tries to over throw the government. Butcher was also only asking MM if Sage had any physical powers, it doesn’t make him look dumb at all. Ryan is a child clearly he would still be struggling over this turmoil. A-train has been going on a redemption arc for a while now, why are you complaining about that. Yes Collin and Frenchie was handled poorly but a subplot that has maybe half an hour put into it shouldn’t make or break a show. Homelander is not one note, in fact after episode 4 we gain a much deeper understanding over the mind of Homelander and why he is like he is. He’s not being cartoonishly evil or anything. He is simply acting the way he has always wanted to, ever since the start of the show. He just wasn’t allowed because of societal norms. The comedy and writing is still top notch especially in today’s climate. I don’t see why you would complain about the grotesque scenes either given that that has always been part of the charm and appeal of the show. My personal theory is the only reason the audience scores are dropping is because the commentary is getting a little too scathing for a curtain side of the community
SPOILERS (so dont read) sister sage feels like a convenient plot tool. when things go right it is because her. when things go wrong it is because of her plan. yet she is the smartest person in the world because they just say she is. and speaking of conveniance butcher looking like he is gonna die the entire season just to look great in the end. starlight losing her powers until the end. This show is about the boys wanting to kill homelander but they seem perfectly fine with his existence and vise versa. homelander knew where they were and sent the friggen Deep? after all the shit and rage he could not spare 10 minutes to whack them himself? The plot armor is insane. How many times can kimiko die and then not die. same goes for everyone. They get in impossible dangerous situations and are all just fine. Why the bisexual love triangle and then jail and blah blah with Frenchie just to return to same dynamic. I feel like so many pointless things happened. spinning its wheels and lazy writing all over. Also what message is this show giving? abusing women is wrong but its ok for a guy to get raped for a whole episode after his dad died
@@dizzlegrizzle1919 I have a problem with most of what you said here. Number one, Sister Sage’s plan made a lot of sense. It was explained fairly explicitly and I don’t see an issue with them saving the reveal of her full plan until the last episode. How else are you supposed to write someone who is literally the smartest person on the planet. Her motive is just being bored and “seeing if she could” take over the world and that makes complete sense for a character like that. Number two, I feel it was pretty god damn obvious that that is where they were taking Butcher’s character since they introduced the blackouts. Kessler taking over was set up and foreshadowed throughout the entire season, idk why you have an issue with it. Number three, Kimiko’s powers have not changed since the start of the show. She has regeneration, it’s one of her powers. Why the fuck are you complaining about Kimoko’s Super Powers working like they always have. That’s like complaining that it’s unrealistic and boring to That Deadpool or Wolverine keep coming back from fatal injuries. Of fucking course they do, it’s one of their fucking powers. Number four, Homelander sent the Deep and Black Noir to deal with The Boys because A) he was busy and B) The Deep literally just asked Homelander the scene before that to prove his loyalty so of course Homelander would send him. Again I agree the stuff with Frenchie was handled fairly poorly but again it wasn’t bad enough to make or break the season and the Frenchie plot only took up at most like half an hour of the total runtime of the season. So yes it’s a fair critique but it’s not bad enough of a plot point that it should be torn apart by every single person who brings up this season. Again it just sounds like nit you’re nit picking if you ask me
The problem with sister Sage was well said, it’s important when adding new characters like “smartest person alive” that you give proper explanation for why it took this long for someone in the main cast to utilize that intelligence.
Yeah there was no explanation of her plan either. They didn’t drop any hints at all as the season progressed. Shit just plays out and Sage goes “hehe my plan all along!” Lame
The first season was good. Everything after was mid. When they were just figuring out how to approach taking out the seven, when they were JUST UNDER the radar. After that its just not as interesting. The shift to acting in the open had to happen at some point, but it should've been somewhat later and preferebly they shouldn't drag it for too long. I think 2 seasons of operating in the dark would be best, with the second season showing the boys making mistakes and the seven closing in on their identities, with some big showdown near the end of that season, and then 3rd season in the open with both sides trying to figure out the best way to take out the other. The main couple is at first cute and there is depth to both of their characters, later its kinda ignored and in the background. The overthetop gorenudedeathviolenceshit stops being a cherry on top of a dark superhero parody, and becomes the only thing there is. Some plotlines get dragged on some dont get resolved or get pushed to the background.
Can you please bring up how they nerfed homelander from not being able to see theough walls, when he catches hughie in S4 when hes in the vents, homelander cannot see him for some reason even when he left the vents and got on the roof. And instead of seeing Atrain with Hughie on the roof he instead walks slowly and opens a damn door, yk youd think if you have superman powers and your enemy is right on the other side of the wall, youd probably just fly through it.
I cannot reiterate how dumb the fight choreography is. Like the scene in S4 Ep7 where Black Noir starts flying and a machine gun...pushes him through a window???? Like bro wtf was that bullshit.
By far the worst thing about this video are when you imply the show was better when it “stuck to the comics” or would be better if it “stuck to the comics” considering it only manages to be as complex, hard hitting, and satirically poignant as if is because of how DIFFERENT it is to the comics. As everyone who knows about the substanceless edge fest with a side of baby-eating cesspool (yes Homelander actually does this in the “source material”) that is the comics would agree. But lets get into why everything about this video is wrong. The gross out became more extreme because the show started playing more into its comedic elements, its not always meant to make you disgusted it’s absurd black comedy because the show is not JUST a drama it’s also very clearly trying to be a comedy, which if you don’t like is completely subjective. Having “the same bored tropes” isn’t reusing previous plot points it’s SLOWLY CONTINUING THE ARC until it reaches a conclusion, such as Atrain SLOWLY deciding to become good until SPOILERS after he felt like a true hero that was looked up to by a kid, and ends up being the man who convinces M.M himself to keep helping The Boys in the name of protecting his family from the world politically deteriorating. Ryan is NOT in a will they wont they, he started building a relationship with Butcher whilst slowly starting to hate Homelander more and more while having scenes showing some of Ryans corruption under Homelanders wing, it is continuing the complex ongoing development of BOTH of these relationships and if he just up and left Homelander for Butcher he would want to kill Butcher but at the very least take Ryan back even if it was against his will. Him being upset at the fact that he’s surrounded by ass kissers just shows you don’t understand how sensitive and complex of a character Homelander is, back in season 1 we see how he appreciates Maeve because of her bluntness he calls “honesty”, and we STILL saw him sometimes get visibly offended or uncomfortable by her snarky or aggressive comments.
2:30 this scene is pretty much what cemented s4 as being mostly slop in my eyes. so much unnecessary gore for absolutely no reason after the very first death happens.
i'd say it's pretty average as of now; it's hard to really call seasons of prestige tv bad (unless they are very obviously wasting time) because they'll always have some good bits and a couple of good episodes in the mix
@@grave_stne0 media is subjective and all that so dont let me opinions affect your enjoyment of the show. But serisouly that is probably the worst fucking take i have ever heard on this platform, there are objective merits a good show can strive for and without a shadow of a doubt, these are not present post season 1
2:03. I’m so fucking glad somebody is talking about this. This and the meandering in the plot are my biggest problems with the show. It feels like every other character has to explode into guts in like every other episode, and it never does anything besides be there for the sake of being shocking. I’m not like anti-gore but it gets to a point in The Boys where you’re just seeing shock value because “It’s The Boys! We gotta have gore and shock value!”
Yeah, this is a good argument. I felt this earlier where it seems like they’re writing backwards. Writing backwards isn’t inherently bad, but it becomes obvious, kinda breaking the fourth wall. And the Frenchie/Kimiko and Ryan’s daddy problem are both drawn out. The one improvement I feel from earlier seasons is that they’re toning the blackmail down a bit. When the only way that the boys can win against vought is blackmail, (season 2 is where this shit peaked. Blackmailing noir away, blackmailing homelander away at the end, and more.) and It’s a bit different here.
Almost for me too, went three seasons loving Mother's Milk and now he's just a mess. The only one who has remained constantly terribly beautiful is Deep.
Its crazy i swear i remember people saying season 2 was kinda mid but now people are saying season 2 was great, thats interesting. Hell i think season 3 is better than 2 easily and season 4 is still pretty good i think more people maybe are just getting tired of it or something. And i think that is the point of homelander, getting upset that no one woulda stood up to him but he kills them if they do, thats why he is insane, he says he can handle criticism but he really cant, his ego wont allow for that to happena and he cant see that. I dont think thats a writing flaw thats his character
I agree. Season 2, I actually have a hard time remembering because it wasn't very impactful. My issue with season 3, however, was really mainly about the amount of stuff shoved into 10 episodes. I thought it would have benefitted from being a bit longer so we could focus on the individual plots more easily. All in all, I liked it, though. Season 4 seems to be doing the opposite of the previous one and instead dividing its story between the last two seasons (haven't seen the finale yet, so I could be wrong, but the story seems to be stretching the plot carefully). I personally don't like season 4 too much, and it's due to the inability to focus on any plot (because there are too many, and because none of them seem to go anywhere, right now), and also that I don't care for those plots. I think I'm happy to have the characters get individual and personal stories, but all at once is awkward. Anywho, regardless of what any of us feel, we're all likely going to still be excited for the final season. I don't have high expectations for it, but I'm committed to completing the series.
Its so not. Yeah it was not as good as the other seasons, but the last episode was very good. Also, you bring up characterizing Ashley in s1 and the wig stuff in s4, but conveniently skip over her scenes with A-train in s4. Most of this video was nitpicking and straw-manning like that and not being patient with the story or not getting what it is. This is just riding the hype train of hating on the new season.
- season 1 is alright. - season 2 already starts to suck. it's ridiculous. - season 3 is borderline unwatchable. - season 4 IS unwatchable. and gen v sucks too. the comic it's a pointed critique against the power of the military industrial complex and pharmaceutical industries in post 9/11 america. the tv show will never have as much teeth as the original as they're just a corpo piece. and before someone points out the military killing the supes at the end, are they not supposed to be effective when the critique is that the united states produces its own enemies to keep the military-industrial complex siphoning all the riches of the damn planet? the problem they created? is the comic not enough on the nose? about the boys themselves deaths. did you mfs expect a disney ending or what lol the boys are a cia backed paramilitary group, they murder the entire vought supe program and sabotage the military v, then they all die horribly. its as good as an ending as it gets for them. If you expected different, ah well gg. during the entire run ennis highlights that butcher is a crazy mf who does not care about his wife, and is doing everything for himself and revenge. when hughie finally kills a-train he feels absolutely nothing, not even relief. nothing is going to make his girlfriend come back. again, isn't the comic already too on the nose? i just don't think "AHHH TRUMP BAD _WOKE JOKE"_ equals "the united states it's a parasite upon its own people, all to enrich a few and ensure the suffering of millions, also all of this superhero mess was all an easily prevented incident had there been any limitations to the capitalistic greed and cruelty". this show was done the second george mastras (breaking bad producer who produced s1) left and season two instantly dropped first season plot points.
Well while I do disagree with you on season 3 being bad because I think season 3 was better than season 2. But finally someone saying what I've been feeling about this season it's not woke it's badly written and a huge example is Gen V season 1 episode 7 and 8 which set up a huge plot that I thought The Boys season 4 would have tackled with which could've made season 4 fantastic.
What I miss is supes being threats. Remember when homelander was actually scary, we knew barely anything about him. Now he just has casual chats with the boys and isnt scary
Oh my. I didn't think I would have to get involved but this is just getting to me. Why didn't the boys ask Sister Sage to help them earlier? Well first she's a new character made for season 4, even if they made her for season 1, the boys don't work with supes up until now. In season 1, Kimiko was just a victim hanging out, and they got Mesmer to work with them, and Mesmer eventually ratted them out to Homelander, so Sister Sage would've probably done the same as she is connected to Vought. The only reason why they are working with supes now is because Kimiko and Starlight are actually good people and want to take down Vought, I don't think Sister Sage wants that, so she would never help the boys. A-Train is all over the place but that's okay. He's a hypocrite. He doesn't kno2 what side he wants to be on because he's conflicted. One, he does want to be a good guy after what happened to his brother affected him deeply, and two, if he does leave the seven, Homelander would kill him, even if he runs fast, he would be liv8ng in constant fear, and his family may be targets if he does switch sides and runs. Also the show is used to gross out scenes, even if it wasn't necessary. Game of thrones did the same thing and no one complains about it, well as far as I know. The boys is brutal and over the top, it's always been, so being bothered by a dick scene and an ass eating scene is just childish if you watched the whole show. I'm surprised you didn't bring up the lobotomy scene, because that was just fucked up. I would never compare this to game of thrones because they are two different series. Also when it comes to reference material, that's just a bad excuse to use when it comes to writing. The Boys series is way different from it's source material, when it comes to characters, plot, settings, even the violence. So everything they are writing is original. And it's way fucking better than it's comic book counterpart. I do understand the criticism regarding Colin and Frenchie, that is poorly written. And I do understand with Ryan, but Ryan is a kid, kids go through shit like this. They're easily manipulated and naive. He doesn't know better, so 3xpecting a kid to make a decision that's difficult is just wrong. Also Homelander is stupid, and that's the whole point of his character. He thinks he's smarter than he is, but he acts like a child and thinks like a child. The only reason why he gets what he wants is because he's the most powerful character in the show. So people are going to be terrified of him, and he's always wondering why people are scared of him when he's interrogating someone, even though we all know the answer. These aren't even the main factors of the story. These are just small parts of the story. Everyone is the same, the plot is the Same, everything is the same. I could keep going but I'm done.
Sister sage was literally let go from Vought after teenage kix, which made her hate Vought. Now, it doesn’t make any sense why Stan Edgar would let Sister Sage go from Vought, if he wanted to help refine Compound-V or figure out a way to kill Homelander in the event that he went rouge. That’s the thing about A-Train, if he doesn’t want to be looking over his shoulder, then he shouldn’t even be helping The Boys. Yes, he can still want to help people, but he doesn’t have to help The Boys specifically, if he doesn’t want him or his family to die. I think the funniest part of your comment, is when you say that you would never compare The Boys to GOT, while also comparing it to GOT in a previous part of your comment. I could continue to rip apart your shitty comment, but I’m bored.
The Boys started out so strong but the writing just got worse and worse, and for some reason they really felt the need to push the envelope on grossing people out, which I don't care about but it was at the detriment of the plot
This seasons overall theme is “Regrets and consequences” don’t believe me? Look at what’s happening with butcher, why Kessler being his devil? Because Butcher left him for dead, his wife is the angel but she is also his regret for not being able to save her. Starlight is struggling with her powers because she is so mentally exhausted by this whole thing, and is at war with herself and who she wants to be, much like Peter Parker in spider man 2. Hughie tried to save his dad, but ended up doing more harm than good and is still trying to do what’s best for everyone despite the consequences inflicted on himself. A-Train finally redeeming himself because of his Regrets, and will eventually suffer the consequences but hopefully on his own terms and not out of fear or the monster he had been. Frenchie same thing, he was a hit man and tried to atone, but he’s realizing that what they are doing is bigger than him and in order to achieve redemption he has to keep going. There are more examples but these are patterns to this season which is why for some people it seems aimless. The characters had their shot to beat homelander in season 3, but they realized it would not solve all their problems, they’re biggest enemy is Vought itself and needs to be brought down the right way otherwise it’ll continue to exploit its own people for profit.
this show has presented some of the weakest, most unskilled writing (post season 1). This shit wouldnt get past a 9th grade english teacher idk how anyone is actually impressed by this garbage
she stated that she didnt care for humans or helping humans hence why she isnt curing cancer or heading a company bc she simply dgaf forgot what ep it was she said that though
@@AleTitan Boomer mentality: if you can, you should. Not wanting to do something, not being motivated towards it, is something some people just can't process.
I personally was out after season 2. It's been a while so I would have to watch it again to remember all the issues I had with it, but one huge example I'd point to was Starfire killing an innocent man for no reason, and explicitly saying she didn't feel bad about it, and the show acting like that was a morally understadable position when it was actually just murder. It seems like there were lots of character ruining issues like that, but like I said I'd have to rewatch.
Ths was an awesome critique of a show that though i think is worse than the early seasons is still definitely gpod and worth watching. With A-train i think his redemption works and its notnold he was always just bad never ‘will they wont they’ this is a new arc for him. Frenchie i completely agree with his relationship with Collin is terrible and adds nothing to the actual story whether he was a guy or girl, however, the critique with Kimiko is invalid because it is strongly outlined in season three that they are just friends. Ryan has been going on for ages, however if its just between homelander and butcher its inly been a seasons worth. Season 4 is far from perfect but i don’t personally find it ‘played out’ but regardless thankyou for providing actual thought provoking criticism unlike the bulk of people calling this show woke garbage. I really enjoyed this video dispite the fact that i don’t necessarily agree with it.
i think we disagree on a few points but this stuff isn't math. at a certain point our feelings are going to be vibes based and thats going to be personal to each person. i'm glad the show isn't turning you off.
The show just took a nosedive and abandoned developing really interesting plotlines over nothingburgers. Did we HAVE to waste time with Frenchie's subplot being so disconnected from the show, it may as well have been a webseries spinoff? Why not tie in that he worked with the guys that trafficked Kimiko, they have an ugly falling out and work separately until last episode when Frenchie saves her from the Virus? Why not have Butcher keep the Temp V powers after taking Compound V, and his panic into from having a very early expiration date make him be more ruthless, more agressive, and slowly everyone distances themselves from him? Hell, tie into a few of these scenes the halluvination Becca, but also his inner dialogue, like from The Boys: Dear Becca comic. Have Neuman be playing BOTH the Boys and Homelander (like Edgar taught her), have Homelander actually INCITE mobs instead of just passively seeing every other character act, and be forced to only have ONE episode where he is allowed to shine. Have Ryan actually be conflicted, but what tips him over is learning how he was "conceived", have Starlight do something more than gigachadface. Instead, we got Sage, who couldn't be kept smart on screen for the majority of Season 4 (and whatever happens now, it's gonna have a scene of her going "all part of the plan"), Firecracker has no aim but being bait for horny viewers and a "reason" for Homelander to stay an idiot. M.M., the youth correctional facility member can't lead a team of grown-ups properly (what sense does THAT make), and Hughie is stuck being the butt of the joke (and the abuse). It's a shame, honestly. I was really excited, even with the shitshow that was Season 3's finale, but now I don't even care about where it goes
i kept watching through season 3 but the ending settled it for me , you can clearly see that they choose profit over quality , and what happened and season 3? a spin-off , yup Amazon about to milk the shit out of this show.
From the look of the comments, it look like the boys fandom is fully of 14 year old edge lords. Unable to accept criticism, and thinking the show is deep because it has gore and swearing.
The worst part of season 4 so far is Homelander’s lack of urgency when Hughie was in the vents. He could have easily flown up there and used his laser vision to finish him off. Instead he shoots his laser beam aimlessly because… plot armor?
@@Vitou777 It's already been said a million times at this point, but most vents are coated in galvanised steel which contains zinc - that explains why Homie was aiming like a Stormtrooper during that scene.
@@finixmoon127could it have hurt to have a 3 second line mentioning that tho, like homelander saying “fucking zinc” or something? Otherwise it looks like a cop out that they expect the fans to know the make up of vents and that they happen to be zinc. Literally a 2 second throw away line fixes that
i think the way homelander doesn’t think about how he made the people at vought sycophants makes sense with how a narcissist would act personally, in my experience, they don’t even think about how they make people scared at all or care, they just want what they want at that given time.
“What impressed me is the Acting and writting” Season 4 Episode 4: AM I A JOKE TO YOU!!?? Antony Starr deserves a F*cking EMMY for his performance in that Ep, he was truly Psychotic!! 🥶🥶
honestly, i dont think that excuses the problems. in later seaaons of GOT, there was good acting still, but the things happening were so ridiculous, we couldnt even pay attention to that.
Season 4 really feels like they thought up a bunch of “OMG WHAT THE FUCK LMAOOOO” moments in order to go viral/spark controversy and THEN wrote the story in a way that makes those things happen. It’s pretty shit tbh.
I think you're missing a big part of the show. Yes some plots take time or become old but they become evolve. A-train has been part of the seven for years, it wouldn't make sense for him to turn back just because one supe crippled his brother. The show takes its time to show us their motivations towards their actions. If it was rushed, there's wouldn't be any suspense and there would be a major event every 2 seconds. You gotta keep in mind multiple characters are living simultaneously. There was only 1 out of those 3 "hallucinations" that was an actual hallucination and that's butcher. The deep can litterally talk to animals, that's one of his powers, not a hallucination. Homelander's mental breakdown is not him hallucinating, the mirror breaking is a stylistic way of showing us his different faces and thus, makes it easier for us to understand his inner conflict. Butcher has super-brain-cancer, which give him proper hallucinations on which he can project, once again, his good vs evil side.
I totally agree with your analyses, but I did enjoy season 4 nevertheless. The (inside) joke that made me laugh the hardest in all four seasons, was in the terrible episode 6 'Dirty Business': "Jesus. You didn't get all the santorum off the gibbet cage." One of the writers saw an opportunity to finally use the word santorum in a dialogue in a very fitting way, and took it. :)
I really hate how they completely ignored Hughie's dad killing people. Like... Theyre walking around with his ashes all happy and they even throw in a pro lifer who shouts that abortion is murder for no reason instead of giving more weight to the previous episodes events. Hughies mom barely seems bothered. Then the weird tek knight subplot... This season just feels so weird in general
Atrains plot is not drawn out. S1 he was a degenerate. S2 He only "helped" outting stormfront because he wanted back in the Seven, he never had an interest in being a better person. S3 was actually focused on Atrain. By the end of the season, he kills blue hawk. It came from an emotional place but it was selfish. His brother realized that for him. S4 is him growing out of his delusions, understanding what it means to be that "hero" for once, putting his life on the line. His character has always been consistent
I love y’all have all these “criticisms” while never acknowledging what it’s doing good if not better compared to the original seasons. Am I saying it’s perfect no but none of the original seasons were perfect so I’m not sure why y’all are expecting perfection now. The show has always been like this so I’m not sure what the problem is.
Simple, the first 2 seasons had a good story as the top priority and these last 2 have shock moments as the top priority. It’s also a lot less subtle with its parody.
@@kylejackson7913 if you need the chemical compostion alongside their effects on tasting buds with a socioeconomical dissertation of shit to know you have just been served shit, you deserve this show

I personally think season 3 was more of a world building season with the introduction of soldier boy and i think why ghe plot hasn't moved foward is mostly because they need to tie up loose ends on characters to give them more depth. I personally like A-train this season
Great review. It's GOT all over again: previously carefully crafted characters and motivations tossed in the bin, gross moments for cheap spectacle, plot lines going nowhere, overconfident writers in the almighty power of the franchise whatever (crap) stories they write, who cares of the source material. Season 4 is boring as fuck, but Season 5 will likely end as a turd. And it is GOT again. RIP
I mean it’s entertaining but this season is no where near as good as the first couple of seasons. The show is formatted where continuity happens, but it never affects the core formula they have developed which is water downed to “the boys investigate a messed up superhero, we get shock value, homelander loses it. But no one dies.” Which is pretty entertaining and that’s what season 4 has been. The problem is that I feel like we’re getting bits of story lines that SHOULD have been covered earlier but were only saved so the writers had an excuse to keep the character alive. It’s extremely obvious that they’re afraid to kill off their characters because they all love working with each other and it would feel sad if they were left out. The show is not great but it’s still better than anything that’s been pumped out lately.
I think the biggest problem is nothing has even happened for 3 seasons, season 1 was important, and then after that nothing that changed anything happened, characters never change and always reset to how they were at the start with the exception mostly of Butcher. Literally the entirety of season 2, 3 and most of 4 other than the last episode can be cut out and nothing would different. They keep introducing something that turns out to mean nothing.
I hate woke culture, but I can usually look past that. But my God. The writing in general is awful. There's so many plot holes now, the focus is on shock factor and the comedy doesn't even hold a candle to season one. I've not laughed or even smiled at a single joke this season. Truly a show!
it's not great but the comic had a definitive ending and if the show ended at season three and borrowed the ending from the comics i'd have a better opinion of the show overall
You literally had me in the first half with me agreeing with you through the frenchy arc, i was open to the idea of sister sage being recruted by the boys and warm to the Ryan thoughts, while disagreeing with the a train thoughts, but you lost it when bringing up Homelanders hypocrisy and the voices in peoples heads. Yes Homelander is a hypocrite we all know, he does not even know what he wants. even sister sage comments on how even if her plan goes through he wont be happy and despit saying he will listen, still punishes her for her plans. You can think its dumb but at least call it how it is. Regarding the voices, the deeps voices are literally real, he can speak to animals. Butcher is supposed to be homelanders opposit so it does not surprise me to see he also has his own version of voices gained from the mass in his head. They are even used differently with homelander having his own personalities speaking to him as butcher has his past demons being the devil and angel on his shoulder.
the Frenchie subplot sucks, but people who say it’s because “they have no chemistry” are missing the point. What’s-his-face is a supporting character, meant to make 🇫🇷 feel guilty about his past. That’s his purpose within the show. The thing about side characters is, they exist to serve a purpose, and they should be relegated to that purpose, and once they _serve_ that purpose, you can just get rid of them. They show’s already throwing away its time on useless sh!+, you really want them to waste their time on a character that nobody even remembers the name of?
It being woke was the cherry on top for it being bad tbh. I obviously could tell that it was just poorly written but they kicked us in the nuts with the extra stupid pandering shit
The problem with season 4 is it was entirely based on laying the foundation for season 5. I’m sure after the final season, season 4 will be seen as a solid season. But for us watching weekly it was basically filler episodes and the last 10 mins of the season finale
This is all fault of Eric Kripke, all the things he couldn't do on Supernatural bc of Cw restricted content rules, he is doing it on here, he just wants to put crazy shit bc the sake of it at the expenses of the plot
damn i wish i had thought of that. great point
and it's a bad thing why?
The seasons just don’t build on each other. Every season is largely self-contained and it makes everything feel without consequence
great point
My biggest complaints would be that season 4's story seems aimless, and the world feels smaller.

My real problem with The Boys is that… nothing has happened…
In season 1, they killed Translucent.
At this point, just kill Homelander already.
damn, wish i heard this before i made the video. it'd be the conclusion lol
To be honest, the finale kinda proved you wrong on that front.
It makes absolutely no sense to kill only Neuman other than to clean up a loose end of a character they had no idea what to do with
@@Schlex True.
They constantly set up huge cliffhangers with disappointing payoffs
@@saucevc8353
Yes we get that but I just wish it got more focus in the earlier episodes of the season to make that compelling and believable,
So much of the marketing (like the first clip shown was homelander in a mirror preparing his defense for the trial) and parts of gen v(one of the worst things the series produced imo) showed the news covering it like crazy only for it to be resolved off screen in episode one bro.
I feel like the show just gave up on trying to make vought feel like a believable company and made them the Republican Party.
When a supe fucked up in the first season like translucent death we saw vought enact all these schemes and wait for the perfect time to give a believable story/lie about his death and make their oversea interference seem justified.
Now they just straight up go Nuh uh photoshop wasn’t us and ppl just eat it up
(Like season two on the v being leaked Edgar just went Nuh uh wasn’t me I didn’t know about it, it was the conveniently now dead coo of our company with rogue scientists, and ppl just didn’t question it 😂)
The show has a common trait of setting up interesting plot lines and then just dumping them like with black noir or homelander getting old.
Well, the "on their side" part is dependent on how they view him, if that changed, you would expect the support to change as well, mindlessly supporting someone, even in the real would, has limits @saucevc8353
Wow someone actually having real criticisms of Season 4 instead of just complaining that its “woke garbage” I respect it
Vocal minority my friend most of us just want the show to go somewhere and not be a flat circle I personally thought this was going to be the scorched earth season but instead it feels like a filler seasonbefore the stuff actually happens

you hate her because shes black and you know it
GOD she's everything wrong with modern characters.
Media literacy is dead Man. It ain't even that deep

You can totally see a public figure to the right of the political spectrum sexually assaulting a child and being able to get away with it by just using the words “woke deep state”, hell one of the two presidential candidates is a sex felon

good comparison though
I usually like more character driven shows but the writers just put the characters in the same stuff they’ve been doing for 3 seasons now (kimiko and frenchie being the obvious ones) like mm still being an ocd wreck (which I thought wouldn’t be as bad anymore since they packed up soldier boy who was the root of his ocd) who wants to escape with his family and spend time with Janine.

My personal theory is the only reason the audience scores are dropping is because the commentary is getting a little too scathing for a curtain side of the community

very good comment i agree with most everthing you said
@@dizzlegrizzle1919 I have a problem with most of what you said here.

Season 3 was good, btw.

I get your criticism but it's far from bad, yeah maybe it's the weakest season but it's definitely not bad
i'd say it's pretty average as of now; it's hard to really call seasons of prestige tv bad (unless they are very obviously wasting time) because they'll always have some good bits and a couple of good episodes in the mix
season 1 was good, everything from then on was slop. I think if you rewatch season 1 you will see how much the writting has degressed

Blackmailing noir away, blackmailing homelander away at the end, and more.) and It’s a bit different here.
that's a fair point. if the show was just three seasons it also woulda helped avoid hitting the same points like blackmail over and over again
The show has always had cracks in it since the beginning, but now it’s completely shattered

Season 4 made me hate every single character I loved.
The writings bad, what is this guy talking about?
Edit : season twos writing is bad too
It’s woke and garbage, how bout that :)
season 1 just got a different vibe to it that non of the others have idk if it was the breaking bad co writer or just dumb luck
I don't take The Boys seriously, I just watch it & have fun doing so
"just consume product, don't think about just consume product and get excited for new product"
It relies completely on shock value and less on writing. It’s still got my interest.
The writing has been shit since season 2 so it's not surprising that it's gotten worse..
- season 1 is alright.
- season 2 already starts to suck. it's ridiculous.
- season 3 is borderline unwatchable.
- season 4 IS unwatchable.
and gen v sucks too.
the comic it's a pointed critique against the power of the military industrial complex and pharmaceutical industries in post 9/11 america.
the tv show will never have as much teeth as the original as they're just a corpo piece.
and before someone points out the military killing the supes at the end, are they not supposed to be effective when the critique is that the united states produces its own enemies to keep the military-industrial complex siphoning all the riches of the damn planet?
the problem they created?
is the comic not enough on the nose?
about the boys themselves deaths. did you mfs expect a disney ending or what lol
the boys are a cia backed paramilitary group, they murder the entire vought supe program and sabotage the military v, then they all die horribly.
its as good as an ending as it gets for them.
No wonder season to starts off so shit for BB
Well while I do disagree with you on season 3 being bad because I think season 3 was better than season 2. But finally someone saying what I've been feeling about this season it's not woke it's badly written and a huge example is Gen V season 1 episode 7 and 8 which set up a huge plot that I thought The Boys season 4 would have tackled with which could've made season 4 fantastic.
What I miss is supes being threats. Remember when homelander was actually scary, we knew barely anything about him. Now he just has casual chats with the boys and isnt scary

Season 3 had an enjoyable run with a terrible finale. Season 4 had a pretty aimless and boring run with a great finale. Perfectly balanced.
Can someone explain what was so bad about the lobotomy scene compared to the other gross scenes?
love how you said "everything is the same" as if it's a good thing lmao
@Vitou777 yeah I know, I cringe at my comment because I didn't really think it through.
Because sage isn't smart, it just has read the script. It can't be smart because the writers aren't smart. She wouldn't have been helpful
The Boys started out so strong but the writing just got worse and worse, and for some reason they really felt the need to push the envelope on grossing people out, which I don't care about but it was at the detriment of the plot
The boys becoming game of thrones is actually the most perfect comparison I've ever heard someone draw

The worst part of season 4 so far is Homelander’s lack of urgency when Hughie was in the vents. He could have easily flown up there and used his laser vision to finish him off. Instead he shoots his laser beam aimlessly because… plot armor?

i think the way homelander doesn’t think about how he made the people at vought sycophants makes sense with how a narcissist would act personally, in my experience, they don’t even think about how they make people scared at all or care, they just want what they want at that given time.

Final episode was crazy tho. Can't wait for season 5
I totally agree with your analyses, but I did enjoy season 4 nevertheless. The (inside) joke that made me laugh the hardest in all four seasons, was in the terrible episode 6 'Dirty Business':
"Jesus. You didn't get all the santorum off the gibbet cage."
One of the writers saw an opportunity to finally use the word santorum in a dialogue in a very fitting way, and took it. :)

Slorp slorp

Truly a show!
the comic was horrible i hear, it was basically just the authors hate boner for superheroes turned into a comic
it's not great but the comic had a definitive ending and if the show ended at season three and borrowed the ending from the comics i'd have a better opinion of the show overall
