If a UFO crashed, the police might arrive there within a day or 6. My wife witnessed a serious rta where someone received life changing injuries. As a ex-first responder she immediately provided help. The accident happened within 100yds of a police station yet the police only arrived 50mins after the event. We’re lucky that it isn’t one of the 600+ stations closed since 2010, but this one is only manned some of the time. Their first concern on arrival having failed to provide a basic service so far? The location of my wife's van and whether it was suitably parked. A copper visited us a few weeks later for a witness statement and I gave him both barrels for the utter contempt with which the public are held regarding policing. Individual coppers may do a great job. The overall service is lamentable.
Funny how people think that just because something happens close to a police station that the cops should be just round the corner….they’re not because they’re out there across the district doing the job…..NOT sitting around in the station waiting for stuff to happen
@@volt8684 something happened in the 1990’s here in the states, where the training changed. We stopped talking people off the ledge and started ordering them to the ground. I wasn’t a fan of that. I probably was not cut from the proper cloth to be a cold officer of the law. I had always seen people as my equal, and not a stair promotion at their expense. I once pulled up behind a young officer at a traffic stop. The driver was seated on the curb in tears. He’d operated an old car with two child seats in the back, and the young copper had a fist full of equipment violations to serve. I’d questioned his intentions, pointing out the hour and the man was heading to pick up his children from a daycare, obviously barely making ends meet, and I suggested some warning cards and one tag with time to show compliance. A day later I was called to the captain’s office where I was verbally flogged for interrupting a top producer and rising star. Then i knew there had been a fork in the road. I worked with some wonderful guys. Dear people who gave their all. But there were those I would not want in my home. I’m sorry you had such a horrific experience. These things aren’t easily forgotten and for good reason. My hope is for a better world.
Hi Dave, good day from Norfolk. Interesting and pretty ride this morning. I did not recognise this route as one i had seen before, possibly due to the detour you had to make, although i do seem to recall recall you going across that reservoir previously. Anyway, lovely to share this ride as the V7 seems to be a joy to ride. I have a feeling "Norman's" nose may be getting "put out of joint" as the saying goes. Many thanks for the ride, Roy.
Thanks so much for calling RAF Menwith hill a station and not a base. The BBC and other media always call them bases. The Navy and the Army have bases generally. Great bike and great video. Keep up the good work.
Great video and thank you for rubbing it in that you are enjoying this rare sunshine on the bike whilst after 2 weeks off of work with nothing but rain I’m back to work! What I would give right now to be riding in North Yorkshire on those country roads with them views… 😎
UFO sightings Dave. My wife's older sister and her husband lived in Ayton for about thirty years so we used to visit a fair bit. Nout weirder looking than Fylingdales radar monitoring station I reckon. I'm an early riser by the way. Up at 6:00 for work over decades and the habit has stuck.
Nice 2CU on the V7! Gotta close that visor as the squealing is loud! That base is described on Wikipedia as: "The site contains an extensive satellite ground station and is a communications intercept and missile warning site. It has been described as the largest electronic monitoring station in the world."
The escorted 'Wide Load' was actually a UFO whose navigational system had caused them to land in Yorkshire instead of Washington USA. Where they get shot at my the US Army...l saw this when Gort appeared disrupting a tanks molecular structure...Such powers exists... Great ride Dave...l'm jealous because l to wanted a Guzzi V7 to ride in Spain, However it wasn't to be. Your finishing shot, allowing the viewer to enjoy the tranquil scene.....
Great vlog Dave. Pateley is my go to place regularly as there's various routes from Bradford to choose from. My theory on that escorted load? Patriot Missile defence system for the impending doom we're heading towards 😕. Enjoyed seeing the V7. I still haven't taken the plunge yet as the ZZR still has a grasp on the old heart strings! Regards, Mo 😊 👍
Thanks for referring to the arrow head. I remember reading a book 'Roadcraft' , an HMSO publication, years ago. I found it very useful when riding. I wonder if it is still available as I could do with reading that again.
Eyup Dave. I was at menwith hill last week with the road closure. The then diversion literally just took you around the back of the facility. Thanks for t'video.
Mr Darcy and the old man channel have got the more classic version of your bike, Mr Darcy selling his harley and bought the guzzi with the spoked wheels and twin analogue clocks, nice looker 😊
Morning Dave nice little ride round yes it is beautiful riding through large tree lined areas with the sun shining through just makes you feel good but was a lot of squealing wind noise through the mic really loud in one place of the video as though you doing 100mph😂😂 but lovely ride out looks as though we having a better spell of weather at the moment let’s hope it carries on take care mate
I’m one of those early riser and late to bed types. Aliens landing in Yorkshire? Clearly they’ve seen your videos and just had to come and see it for themselves. 🤣🤣👍
Dave, I rode some Guzzies today. I love the V7, and like the 85tt. I didn't like the new water cooled engine on the Mandello. Too refined, yuck. Motorcycles aren't supposed to be Toyotas (no offense intended to folks who own one) The bottom line is it's not about power and speed but character and ride enjoyment.
Being a GoldStar lover yourself Dave i wondered what your thoughts were regarding BSA at the moment. I bought my Midnight Black model on the 1st of March last year and paid £6800 + otr now they are selling them brand new for £5500 + otr and the green one which was £6500 is now £4995. This has ruined the second hand prices of these bikes and cost me a load of money if i want to change my bike. What a way to treat customers and no way to get brand loyalty.
I’m with you Ian I paid 8.5 for my CF Moto and the week after some outfits were selling them off at 6.8 (though not with luggage tbf) it’s an occupational hazard you can never know what’s around the corner….i love the BSA I’m just surprised they’ve lost so much momentum
I'm one of those to retire at 11 and up by 3 am. The candle is burning down , so I can sleep longer when I'm gone. Lol. The police 🚔 escort added up to 6 imo. Super sensitive. Those ritzy estates didn't have any motos in the courtyards. They're missing out on so much. I feel sorry for them. Probably worrying about their money 💰 status.!! Lol. 👍👍
Hehey 😂 Yeah, just watching your video, and you mentioning something could be top secret being transported to the RAF base maybe! And I was thinking of you being in the police force quite a while back and living in Bingley and not too far away from Todmorden probably about 17 miles, something like that. There was a UFO incident in the 80s. I don't know whether you heard of this incident, when PC Alan Godfrey encounter a UFO whilst out on a search for some cattle that had escaped when he came across the UFO in the middle of the road and he claimed he was abducted and under went psychological hypnosis on two occasions and came up with the 2 same answers and prior to that 5 months earlier he was called to a strange death of a man named Adamski who was laid down to rest on a coal heap and the case is still open, as they could not find the reason for his death, but it looked like he'd had electrodes put on his body at some point, and in Alan Godfreys regression, when he said he'd been abducted these aliens had put the same things on him, seems quite a coincidence and as Todmorden has had quite high sightings of UFOs maybe this is because of the RAF base being relatively close by. You can look this case up on RUclips. I find it quite interesting, or am I putting 2 and 2 together and getting 6? Hmmm, just a thought, though 😂😂 Pete
I remember the Todmorden incident as it’s my force though a couple of years before I joined. It was widely accepted that the story was concocted as a cover for neglect of duty
Of course the alien craft landed in Yorkshire, where else would they get such a warm welcome, or dare I say that they could claim UK immigration status and receive housing and healthcare not available on their planet 😮
