Very well thought out video. The steps were detailed which makes it easy to follow. It's always a bummer when someone glosses over a step that they deem unimportant assuming it will be easy to figure out. Thanks for this!
He didn't tell you how to flag though.
I never comment on a video normally. This was a supreme walk through and you are so good at explaining. This has worked for me. Stem Deck is now playing JSRF 100%. Thank you so very much. LEDGEND !
You're welcome!
Did you download Extract-Xiso on your Steam Deck or on a separate windows laptop?
Because the only version is for Windows32 for the builds
Great stuff! Only thing I'll point out for those that might be confused like me, there's a space before and after both the -x and -c
How did you get it to work? Mine just makes an iso file whenever I extract it
@@howthech just like you failed to convert many I can't so do many like you there are some minor details that we don't notice and don't realize because we don't know the things that need to be known in this situation that's why the user of this video would they should make a page as it is for PlayStation 1 PlayStation 2 PlayStation portable these emulators I mean be the files ready all formatiso and post them there ready converted we just download and enjoy them would be much more useful than to show us these advanced things are not for everyone they are useful for those who are like the one who created this video but as you failed I do not succeed much because many of us do not have the necessary knowledge we were not born taught from the mother's womb and many of us find it difficult to learn this so it is better to create a web page and put the ready converted files for us to download and enjoy it would be much more useful that way and show us how to enter in the longing emulator
thanks a lot, I wish more youtubers would make videos like yours, it's to the point and concise without any unnecessary intros and talk
Thanks, this is exactly why i started making these. Not enough clear vids out there.
You earned a sub and a like. I was up all night trying to do this and decided to take a break as the shell would not work correctly. Your tutorial has it working straight away.
I'm glad it was of help to you.
No man for the first part you just have to drag and drop the iso on the exe. No renaming nada. I have done it and it works perfectly in cxbx every time.
Second part yes for the xiso.
thanks, I don't know why, but his way wasn't working for me
Holy hell my man, you just made the past three hours of my hair pulling adventure a breeze now
Yeah I was definitely like WTF
can i buy you a coffee lol, i hate typing code
@@Tiny-xbx I don't drink coffee, but I'll take a hot cocoa thanks hehe. All kidding aside, glad it was helpful. Have a good one.
Hi Jov, absolute lifesaver of a Vid. I've been faffing about with DD commands with no luck, this worked perfectly. I now know my PC isn't beefy enough to emulate XBOX.
Well explained, easy to follow. No unnecessary information. 10/10
Awesome video. To the point, doesn't skip anything because people "assume" you know the basics, and at a good pace to easily follow along with. This made it super easy to get xiso files to play in xemu, definitely gets a thumbs up from me.
Glad it was helpful! That was definitely my goal. Not everyone knows everything and i try to make it ez as it is.
for anyone having issues with the second part with you shift click make sure to shift right click on the files you want to convert do shift click on the folder then click on power shell and follow the rest of the video it worked for me
Ah, thank you so much for detailed instructions. This video was 'perfect.' It was exactly what I was looking for and by the end of it I was able to get a game running on XEMU. Yes!!
Dude, you're amazing. I have been trying to get this to work for 2 days. Watched countless other videos, yours is BY FAR the best.
Absolutely brilliant video, been trying to get this to work all for ages.
THANK YOU SO MUCH I'VE SPENT DAYS TRYING TO GET THIS TO WORK!!!!!
Amazing!! This is by far the most helpful video. Thanks to you i can now play James bond games. Thanks a lot man. Big love!!
you are a godsend. i've been trying so long to get it working, this was so easy to follow
i gasped from amazement when the game actually worked for me. I tried for hours!! thanks for this really great guide!!
Just wanted to express my thanks as well - this was so clear and incredibly helpful, much appreciated!
Glad it was helpful!
This was driving me crazy. Perfect video, easy to follow and worked on the first try. Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Jov, I spent a frustratingly long hour and half desperately trying to get this to work, and then I found your video. 10 minutes later I'm now happily playing Sims 2 for xbox. Thank you so much!
i try to run it but i said that the file with ".exe" does not exist ? i think i should be ".c" but it opens my visual studio code... so doesnt works actually i still trying
sorry me bad!!! i download another realease in .c at the gir hub repository i go back check the realeases select the correct one and everything goes well! i was very easy and fast
Solved
Many are confused. so here is me explaining
FOR xemu you need xiso which you can only get from XBE . So first convert ISO to XBE and then XBE to XISO
FOR XBE simply drag iso to extract.iso.release (no command needed)
after that FOR XISO use 2nd command (There are 2 commands in the video discription above)
AND done !!!!!!
This + your setup of xemu, perfect. Chefs kiss
This was driving me crazy. I can finally play ESPN NFL 2K5 upscaled and couldn't be happier. Thank you so much.
Super helpful finally I am able to extract my ISOs into folders to FTP for the xbox. Thanks a lot!
thank you so much! was trying to use a gui version that just messed up all of my iso files forcing me to re-acquire them. Powershell worked great!
This might be the best emulator tutorial video I've watched on RUclips. Thanks a ton!
Glad you liked it!
For anybody running into the "no such file or directory" issue when doing the first step in powershell you can just drag the file onto the "extract-iso" exe file and it will work!
how do you flag in powershell?
I've followed this guide about a dozen times and when I execute the script in powershell, nothing happens. Just gives me the folder prompt. Have run in both powershell and powershell admin.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks a bunch man, this was extremely helpful!
Fantastic tutorial, clear and worked perfectly, cheers! :)
Couldn't figure out what I was doin, your video saved me hours of frustration. Thanks 107%!
Incredible explanation, thank you so mucho bro for explaining it so well and all, i had that problem running games that werent xiso, now i can play my games correctly, sub+like, tnx
Glad I could help
Thank you, now I can finally play my non-backwards compatible games again.
Been enjoying Blinx and Shadow The Hedgehog again after all this time.
looked through 4 tutorials and this was the easiest to follow. thanks.
Glad it helped and was simple to follow along.
Exactly what I needed, Thank you for a great detailed video! If you have a filename with spaces, just put quotes around the whole filename. Ex file name.iso "file name.iso"
Nice, that's a handy tip. Thanks & have fun!
Of all the damned guides, this one, and only this one, worked. Thank you!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
FINALLY I CAN RUN OG XBOX GAMES ON THE DECK
hell yeah worked first try. took a sect to find powershell. well worth it
If you're trying to create an XISO by following the steps in the video and it still isn't working, make sure your game isn't double foldered, for example you have a folder named "Halo Combat Evolved" or whatever game, you click into that folder and instead of seeing the XBE and game file folders, you see another folder named "Halo Combat Evolved". If that's the case then you need to move the second folder that actually has the XBE and game files out of that main folder and then run your powershell/terminal command.
This was super helpful and got things up and running. Thanks mate!
This worked perfectly. Thank you!
OMG thank you for this video. I have been trying to figure this out for a month
You're a life saver. So much confusing info out there, and this did the trick!
Thank You 4 clear Tutorial but i got 2 Question:
1. What similar, simple way, converter do you recommend if the game is not in iso only (Track 1) etc. bin cue and you would like to convert to iso ??
2. In your opinion, which emu is better cxbx vs xemu, or maybe otherwise which is better for Xbox games and which is better for e.g. emu arcade chihiro etc ??
Winbin2iso will convert to iso files. As for the emus, i use both. There are certain games that work better on one than the other. You would just need to check each ones web page for compatibility list.
@@jovsgaminglounge where do you get the command pls help me :(
Many thanks, great tutorial. Man hope every tutorial on youtube was like this one, the time saving it will be.
dude thank you so much you are a live saver was pulling out my hair on this one
@Jov's Gaming Lounge hol up so to make the xiso file for xemu you compress the already modified xbe file? or run the command line on the original iso file? please respond when u can. all your videos ive seen were very clear and concise but i am confused atm
you first extract the redump iso. its going to give you a folder with an xbe file in it. you then run the command to compress it (the folder) and with will be an iso that will be compatible with xemu.
@@jovsgaminglounge thank you boss man, i went and found an updated video you had made, i forgot i had even sent this, but i do hae a question, like i dont have the greatest pc, but ive emu pcsx2 and dolphin both on games that werent exactly lightwork but im getting considerable frame rate loss like a consistent 73% of natural once i get past menus. is there something i need to do to better optimize my comp, or xemu for performance? is box emulation alot more taxing than pcsx2/dolphin, or do i need to check if something has goone awry in my setup? sorry, i know your not tech support, but if you know about system tax differences between the various system emulators during this era thought it might . thanks for all the help, realliy pleased i came across your channel and thanks for your prompt reply, even tho i failed to check it after i followed up on your other
@@sarmstrong7014 i have ran these emulators on low tier pcs. the best thing to do is throw upscaling out the window if you are doing so. play at native. use dx 11 where possible. xemu uses opengl. check the games compatibility to see if it runs proper on the emulator on xemu.app/#compatibility. as far as other optimizations im not too sure. hope this helps.
A bit complicated for a dude that doesn't know anything about commands but it worked, thanks a lot
You're welcome!
So it was the file spaces that got me! Thank you so much!
im so confused (not by your video). Is downloading games for the emulator not an option anymore? I assumed that was done to play through emulators/ the point of getting one. How are games acquired?
Hello bro, one question. No have issues in images create with SO 64 bits? In the github show warning when use a 64 bits SO
Very well explained! Thank you very much
Thank you so much man! You saved me on this one.
Thank you so much. Your step by step was the best and It helped me so much. You got a subscriber.
Glad i was able to make it ez for ya!

followed this step by step and its still saying please insert disk.
Hey thank you this really helped! And JSRF was actually the game I needed too lmao
Great video! Man this was driving me nuts. Now the only question I have is if you can batch convert iso's in the compressed version that will play on Xemu? I have a lot of games to convert over.
thank you soooo much for making this video. you helped me out big time! now i can finally play dino crisis 3!!!!!!!! and a word for others no dino crisis 3 doesn't suck. haters gonna hate. it is a great game and capcom did us all good. so shush. for other fellow dino killers. ooh yeah. im continueing this!
When is do .\extract-xiso.exe -x ‘.\ iso ‘ it says open error: no such file or directory. I made sure I put everything in right and it still doesn’t work. Any idea on how to fix this?
I was having the same problem, but then i enable the option to show the file name extensions and worked fine.
If you don't know how to enable it, just click "view" in the windows file explorer, you will see this option right away.
I hope that was helpful for ya! :)
@@ceipol4934 this helped me thank you sm! i was stuck for days on this and I just wanted to emulate my spider-man 2 and shrek 2 roms for nostalgia
This was a step many guides left out.
You saved my life Jov ty
The exact step by step explanation I needed. Thanks a million!
When I try to extract the iso with powershell, it doesn't recognize it and says there is nothing there, but the directory is correct. I thought I might just have a scuffed game so I downloaded Jet Set Radio since it's the game you used as a sample and it still didn't recognize it.
I think I know why. Your file that you got on your computer. when renaming your game (iso file), take out the "dot iso." Just give it the name of game, no spaces. It'll automatically read it as an iso. While in powershell, you going to put the name of your game and then put dot iso. It should work. I had that same issue. I hope it works for you.
@@se_wingless5605 bro your the GOAT!! took your advice & it worked!! Thanks!

Was skeptical at first but we did it G 👊👌

Incredible dude, been trying to play Fuzion Frenzy for years, after following your steps IT WORKED AT 100% much appreciatted
Glad it helped!
Finally something that works, great video mate
Glad it helped
I tried to follow along but when I got to powershell and tried to run the executable it said that no such directory exists
Drag and drop your iso onto the exe 🤦
thank you I am playing tenchu 3 : return from, darkness after all of these years
i coudnt compresses it back after extracting the file it gives me error in the power shell saying that filesystem: bin.zipread error: Value too large faild ! what should i do please help i was trying to extract forza horizen 1
I am getting permission denied when trying to run the powershell. I tried running as admin too and i got the same result. Any idea?
same here
open error: C:\Users\Devon\OneDrive\Desktop\xiso\Fable.iso.iso Permission denied
Fixed, moved xiso to my second drive that windows doesn't care about as much.
I tried this with my Red Dead Redemption iso-file, but I don't get a default.xbe-file. I do get a default.xex-file among several other files. Running extrat-xiso with the c parameter stops with an error (generating avl tree from filesystem: rdr2_layer0.rpfread error: value too large
failed!) How do I convert the xex-file into a xiso-file?
Red Dead Redemption and xex files are for xb360. Not original xbox. This process is for og xbox.
From a Steam Deck user: Thank you! Some files dont come this way, and this video has been very helpful for converting the files in the necessary format.
You're emulating an Xbox on the steam deck, that is sick yo!!! Let me know how that goes.
I got the emulator started up on the steam deck but I still haven't converted any files to iso because I'm new to Linux, and the programs are exe
im confused on the powershell option thing, i dont see it anywhere on the steamdeck
So I tried running .\extract-xiso.exe -x '.\filename.iso’ in Powershell but it keeps saying "No such file or directory" (I'm trying to do it from a straight .iso file, not an iso Archive, how do I make one?) I thought it's because I forgot to add ".iso" at the end of the name but same issue after adding that, any tips? Been at this for 3 hours and so frustrated, please help!
Hey, for the first step, someone on here shared that the iso can be dragged into the extract-xiso program and it will begin to extract the iso. Hopefully this helps.
@@jovsgaminglounge is it supposed to extract through power shell or command prompt? I drag my gaylo2.iso disc image into the extractor exe icon and it opens command prompt instead of power shell and creates a folder.
thank you for a very good tutorial!
thanks for your tutorials bro useful
Yesterday it ran as ususal but today, when i try to loead the game it freezes in the loading screen that comes before the main menu, after that a message saying that the disc may be damaged appears
You are a life saver thank you!
This is confusing for me. None of my downloaded games are an .iso. They were .7z files. I unpacked them and was left with some folders and files. I'm trying to use XEMU.
I just drag and dropped my Iso file onto the exe and it extracted perfectly.
what if you have an XBE file???????????????????? how do you get it to iso? xemu doesnt recognize. .xbe
Big thanks Dude. Great Video :)
Just wanted to quickly comment here, you dont need to use powershell to extract the xiso, you can just drag and drop the ISO onto the extractor exe file.
Can I burn the xiso to a dvd after all of these steps?
an error is appearing for me:
data path directory is currently in use. Use a different data path directory or stop emulation from another process.
thank you for the tutorial !! just a little thing, you forgot the ' at the end of the 2nd command in the description !!
Thank you for that, i just fixed it. Have fun!
Whenever I try to run powershell, it says there is no such file or directory, how do I fix this issue?
Thanks! Also works great on my RGH3.0 Xbox 360
Wow very well explained my friend! thank you very much!
You're very welcome!
I did the right thing for xemu version and I load disc file and I reset but doesn’t load the game and still says please insert an Xbox disc, I’m trying this with MLB 2k5 and I checked on xemu website and it says it’s compatibile please help
Well I was finally able to load a game on here, but now I have a huge stuttering issue - both audio and graphics-wise. No idea how to fix that.
Won't XDVDMulleter do the same without having to go through command lines?
Brother, you trully saved my life
So I have done this multiple times and I have "successfully" completed it BUT it doeesnt create an xbe file of the ISO. XBE is for 360 i assume yes?
An xbe is created when extracting from an iso (when the contents are made into a folder with items in them.). xbe is for og xbox. xex are for xb360.
Extract iso doesn’t even open for me , I keep getting an error window saying” vlcruntime was not found “ or something like that … any idea why ?
this means you don't have any of the microsoft c++ runtimes installed. google search microsoft c++ runtimes for the official link and install it so that programs like this can open for you.
@@jovsgaminglounge oh yeah I uninstalled like 4 versions of the cc++ and reinstalled the latest version still didn’t open so used Iso2god but the game was freezing to much
