    I really learned something that I never thought about and I started bowling 60 years ago when I was 9. I didn’t know about the cross over steps. Then again I never took lessons. I managed to be a 190 plus league bowler in my hay day. Now I will have to get out on the lanes and practice my approach. I’m a big fan of you guys. Thank you for the tips.

    There are a lot of blogs and sites where people complain about the poor and declining state of bowling. It is nice to see that you guys are giving back in a way that will help bowlers enjoy the game more, bowl more and hopefully introduce their friends to the sport.
    Good stuff, you guys are killing it. Keep up the good work!

    This tutorial alone has improved my average..... simply because of how you show each step. I used to drift a lot and I was never consistent. I've followed your advice and have seen a vast improvement in my average and footwork...thank you!

      Many thanks, been searching for "how much should i spend on a bowling ball?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Piylivern Remarkable Predominance - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is an awesome one off guide for discovering how to up your bowling game quickly minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my colleague got excellent results with it.

    It's been 50 years since I last bowled but am thinking about starting again. I had the idea that there were just two approaches - the 3 step and the 5 step. But you guys have made me Google about approaches and I don't see anything about a 3 step approach. Well, this is the time for me to learn the approach correctly. Glad you guys brought it to my attention. And I never gave thought to getting my right hip out of the way. No wonder why I rarely broke 100 - my ball was never released in a straight line.

    This was very enlightening. As someone who never had a bowling lesson, just wings it when you go occasionally, it was nice to learn about the hips and taking shorter steps and keeping your momentum forward. Perhaps I should get a proper lesson.

    Hey boys! I really enjoy you both and will say Hi, during the masters. Timing is my big pet peeve. Too many including some pros, start their back swing way late. Instead of their hips opening as the push out leg becomes the trailing leg, they are stepping forward again with the push out leg, just as the ball is in the back swing. The ball will need to loop around a sq pair of hips. These bowlers all have a hard time staying on line. They decelerate on the approach when we should be accelerating, during the last step. Good luck, thanks for all the content. C ya at masters and may the 6's trip for ya.

    Hey guys, I love your videos and have been watching them at nearly every free moment for the last week or so. It's really encouraging me to get back into the sport. I haven't bowled competitively since I was 18, now 42. It's also been a few years since I've been on the lanes.
    I know this is an older video but I felt it would be best to stay on topic. I don't know if it's worthy of an entire video but how important is the 'slide?' I have had a problem my entire life with stomping that last step and can't seem to get myself to actually slide it. Any pointers??

  • @lonestarpatriot876
    @lonestarpatriot876 2 месяца назад

    I think the key is to correct only something if it is causing errors in your game.
    If things come natural to you and do not cause issues, stick to it.
    We are not all robots who have the same exact movements.
    I used to be a hitting instructor in baseball, and I would never suggest a mechanical change if the player was doing something unorthodox unless it was affecting performance negatively. The same goes for pitchers, and this applies to bowlers as well.
    If we all copied the exact same mechanics, we would all look exactly the same.

      After some 30 year away from the sport I'm relearning the game and I'd also like to see a video combining the steps and arm swing. I'm trying to develop a higher arm swing then when I bowled before. I'm confused at the timing. No I'm not going nuts just want to get ball shoulder high, and never did years ago.

    • @mrshauncory
      @mrshauncory 5 лет назад

      I would say no, for the fact that now you've eliminated all the momentum of your approach. Basically made the approach irrelevant. I'm not a pro by any means but that's my opinion.

    Wow, I never realized how short the steps should be. At least during the demo, his feet are literally heel to toe. Maybe that's why my amateur hips feel so sore cause I have no form. I bowled 8 strings and the next day could not walk. I waited 5 days to bowl again and its agonizing. I clearly am putting way too much torque on my left hip with my crappy form. Maybe a slide would help me.

  • @danielburris5860

    So... I'm a right handed bowler with a right slide foot. Like... I'm a left handed writer and slide on my right foot when bowling with my right hand pumping the power.
    My question is... How am I supposed to be able to pump out 15 mph with a 15 pound ball? If not just 14 mph... I do that and with high track flare+ a 6 inch positive pap. The other direction would be 1 1/2 left or right... But I track on the left side of my hand and very close to the finger tip grips/thumb hole.
    90% or more people always tell me I'm sliding on the wrong foot for my right handed style! But I do start on my right foot in the approach... I'm sure I do anyway! But a lot of people say that my style is inefficient based on my slide foot and not being able to use my full body. Not to mention I start the ball around my knee and my back swing isn't too high either. Like... I don't hold the bowl with both hands at the start... I use one! And pull it back from there at that.
    I'm 155 pounds, 28 and 172 cm tall. Barely exercise outside of work and bowling.
    What could I do to make things better? 189 and 189 and 195 sanctioned averages.
    Not to mention I have a few high end cover stocks that are used and playable on the current high friction house shot as well... They're drilled around 90*4*10 (Trident Abyss) , 120*4*30 (Alpha Jackal) and 65~*5*45~ Venator Evolution Hybrid. No polish. Not too dull.

    Came here to rant about my friend. We just went bowling today and somehow he had the most awful bowling form I’ve ever seen.
    It starts with him walking up to the line, Full Stop, swinging the ball above his head and over his left shoulder, and then back down his torso and around his back, then dropping the ball straight into the gutter.
    It was a lot of fun though

    Hey guys, I am loving your tip videos, and glad you guys can give back.. My only question is my slide foot even though not all the time ends up pointing the wrong way. I have tried to work on this. By doing the one step drill and watching tape on seeing why i am doing this. I cant figure out why it ends up that way. If you guys have any feedback on any tricks or drills i can work on to help fix that would be awesome. Thank you guys.

    • @niemann999
      @niemann999 6 лет назад

      Darrin Lindsey it points left towards the left gutter. When i watch the video its my my last step i tend for some reason to step left and im guessing thats what causing my foot to point that way. But im not sure how to fix it since its straight all the way to that point.

    • @niemann999
      @niemann999 6 лет назад

      Darrin Lindsey that could be, i was talking with an another bowling I bowl against. He suggesting that i maybe to taking too long of a step on my last 2 steps causing me to step left. Since i take pretty small steps on my first 2 steps

    • @niemann999
      @niemann999 6 лет назад

      Darrin Lindsey yeah hes seen me bowl more on tournaments then anyone and i trust. So figured i would give him a call. He wanted me to try to start further back and take longer steps to start with maybe shorten my last step so i am not over steping the last step

    • @niemann999
      @niemann999 6 лет назад

      Darrin Lindsey alright i will try to work on strengtening my calf and knee more and see how that goes and maybe kinda focus to see if i can keep my leg underneath more by focusing on it more maybe see if just a misstep.

      Same thing, hips slightly open, use your shoulders to aim, start with your left foot and don't force anything. Keep the momentum up and control the feet. If you want more speed to get the ball further down the lane, then quicken your steps but keep everything controlled.
