Glad to finally (and randomly) stumble upon this, I've been hoping for a mod like this for years. One bug I found though is if you deplete SOME ammo in the chaingun, switch to another weapon without reloading it, then switch back to the chaingun, you can't reload it until you fire a single shot first, even though there's less than 50 (the max) bullets in it.
Looks great. Only problem: the shotgun muzzle flash timing is reversed. Right now, the flame is being sucked into the barrel after the shot. The burning gases should expand, i.e. the flame must grow after the shot, not contract.
I'd like something for this game where you can blow holes in walls like in the first Red Faction game. Imagine blowing a hole in a wall to a room on the other side and the baddies come through the blown out walls.
The mod Hideous Destructor has a semi janky version of this that allows for door breaching on thiner doors and some walls that requires using a dedicated console command. That being said Hideous Destructor is not for the faint of heart.
It's funny and cool you comment this. Reason I say this is because I watched and interview with John Carmack and he was obsessed with the idea of blowing through walls.😂😂 he was really upset we didn't have the memory and hardware for that to work with their lighting and framerates and such.
@@christiangottsacker6932 Well we have the hardware now. I'd like to see it be able to run on any computer from the last 15 years or so. So you dont need a heavyweight gaming machine to run it. Red faction did it back in 2001.
Hi. Just want to say that Voxel Doom is getting an update soon with voxel hands and guns, so you might want to update what version your mod is compatible with.
Sadly I don't think I'll be that savvy to be able to do this, as I have near zero experience making sprites. All the sprites in my mods are taken from other mods. I love the voxel weapons cheello is working on and I hope to see them complete sometime in the near future. Sadly unless anyone recreates reloading animations that work with his voxels, this likely won't be possible at least for me. Also I would imagine zscripting for voxels would be an absolute nightmare compated to 2D sprites. Cheers. :)
My only gripe is that the new Super shotgun appears to have a painfully long reload time, long enough to potentially ruin its effectiveness especially in a multi monster battle, which describes virtually every Doom level in existence.
The main advantage it still keeps is the ability to fire 2 consecutive single shotgun blasts at a rate faster than the pump-action can. Most enemies die from 1 close-range shotgun blast, so 2 shots in quick succession can still clear a lot of enemies between reloads. But yes, invariably this mod nerfs it. Some might argue however that the SSG was too overpowered and made the game too easy in its original state.

I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or a bugged download, but I can't get the vanilla handgun to work. All the other weapons work just fine but the vanilla handgun won't load at all. I've put it last in my load order and tried both V1 and V2 but nothing. I've checked and double checked the path and spelling etc. I've tried loading it via the .ini and via the -file command but it still won't work. Like I said, all the other weapon mods work just fine so I'm not sure what's going on here.
It's called zdoomHUD.pk3 I dunno where I downloaded it from but I do recall searching quite a while for a decent HUD to use. Imma add a link in the description for all the mods I use and put them in my mediafire folder. Should be up in a few minutes. :)
@@randominternetman8177 Most left-handed folks learn to use certain tools or weapons right-handed because it's designed for people who are right-handed. I'm sure he is somewhat ambidextrous but if he shoots pistols and punches with his left hand, it must be his dominant hand.
@@Spartanwall A clip is not a magazine. A clip and a mag are two entirely different things that serve a same-ish purpose. They're distinct and have different names apart from each other for a reason: they are not the same thing and one is a "type" of the other.

🤔 Maybe try going into the ini file and add the mods under the autoload feature? If you're just selecting all and dragging over GZdoom, it may be confusing which it's applying last. The handgun one should be very last in the load order. When doing the drag method, after selecting them all, I usually had to ctrl+left click the handgun one to unselect it and click it ag6to reselect it to ensure it indeed was lastly selected. Other than that, I can't imagine what could be wrong. Are you using the latest GZdoom?
Yeah. I really wanted to allow customization where people can replace each weapon individually and select which version of weapon they want. I originally wanted to add an in-game menu where people can toggle the weapons and consolidate them into 1 big mod, but I'm not savy enough and seems very daunting to do, as I'm very new to modding in doom. I only started making these mods when nobody else had any thst did what I wanted. Sorry. :( I'll try to make the menu thing in the future hopefully when I understand scripting a little better.

The new pistol shooting sound is very satisfying for some reason.
I'm using the pk_doom_sfx_20120224.wad for sounds. It's the best imo.
It sounds like the vanilla sound just with pitch randomizer on
@@TheRealBDouble no, it's perkristian high res sfx. It replaces the bit crushed sfx with the source hq sfx ( mainly from sound libraries )
It's literally just a high pass filter

There should be a feature to the chain gun that makes it overheat the longer you shoot it
As long as it is completely optional. This is Doom, realism has no place here.
some of theses sprites are from weapons_of_saturn or something like that, i had the original wad (im not the author)

It's just a feature of GZdoom. Can be turned toggled on or off.

why does the pistol's lighting change sides

It'll bug out. Smooth Doom introduces a lot of assets and extra code, and those interfere with this mod.
