I believe the badge on the top is an actual fender badge from the car so it should just be attached with the very strong OEM-quality (likely 3M) adhesive backing that comes on the badge from its supplier.
The Corvette guitars were the nicest looking promo guitars that Gibson did, imo, though I think the '63 version could have been done better. This one looks looks and sounds great. Thanks, Trog!
Now that is one cool looking 2003 50th Corvette Les Paul, if a bit impractical for playing. I'd love to see a run of DC Special LPs with these super rounded contours/dish carves (but no vent scoop or string through).
My dad actually owns a 50th anniversary corvette in the anniversary red. He got it a year or 2 ago and in his research about the car, he found out about these guitars. Really cool to see you review it. I would like to own one of these!
Trogly you are correct about possible gold under the guitar paint because; the red anniversary paint on the actual car starts with gold as the base, then red over top. Learned this at the Fresno 50th anniversary corvette show (my 67 was entered) and they explained why the red paint was so nice and deep and different from any red we’ve ever seen.
Currently at the GNR concert in Nashville Edit: i think i may know what slash’s new signature is it’s a red acoustic but different from his other acoustics. his signature is on the trustrod cover not sure how to show the though
Hey, it's the Beato 2nd run prototype!! Actually, if they made a carve top DC, I would have to have one. That bridge pup is the most beefy bridge P-90 I've heard. ♫ " Little Red Corvette, Baby You're Much Too Fast" ♫
The VIN on Corvettes are formulated the same way as the serial number on it. E53F001001 being the the first ever corvette made in 53. First letter is the series/model, then year, then a letter for which assembly plant(N being Nashville in Gibsons case I suppose?), followed by the production number.
I think the 50th Anniversary emblem is there because that’s where it sits on the car. Probably should have been up by the horn to be out of the way though.
The other Corvette pauls look like Backlund Rocker box guitars quite a bit. I would like to see some designed after WWII warbird tributes. Epiphone did it some years ago, the Mustang fighter, the b-17 bomber and I think the vaught f4u Corsair. Maybe you could do a show on those.
@@jmakc3541 I would assume they were supplied by GM (along with the paint) and that they would be the same ones used on the car. It definitely looks like a real car badge.
That Emblem looks to be the same exact one used on the car. I did an I,age search for the 2003 50th Anniversary Corvette and the same emblem/badge is used on the car. I would imagine even those emblems are worth a pretty Penny.
I'd love to have a black Explorer with the red grain fill and chrome hardware to match my 1974 Corvette. Maybe even have them throw on a Corvette front badge too.
Looks great and sounds like you need to switch those pickups. Sounds like the neck pup was meant for the bridge for sure. That's a muddy bridge pup as well. You can do a nice neat soldering switcheroo.
The badge is likely the same that is used on the cars, and it's attached the same way. Basically just a really strong adhesive. I know you will never remove it from the guitar, but a trick how to remove it from cars is using fishing line to get between the badge and the car to break the adhesive.
The fin thing was probably added by sticking on a piece of fiberglass and then putty-ing the whole thing up. Followed by sanding it back down to get it smooth for paint. Probably why it's so heavy...
This is one of the coolest guitars ive ever seen. Thats strange how the paint was a red on red. Typically depending on the finish the base coat is gold with a red top coat and clear. Though it looks like they used two different shades of red here. Now that i see that ding on the headstock i can see the gold base in the paint though.Ive always heard the scoop on the side usually behind the front wheels are there to cool the brakes since they sre 70 percent of stopping power. Although theres been other vehicle's with vents front and back. Just realizing how much of an gle they drilled the string through area from back to front. Theres a good separation from where the strings go in to where they com out
@@216trixie Right where the strings come thru the body. He noted it in the video when mentioning the tuning instability. B/c there is no metal grommet and the strings come into direct contact with the body, making indentions.
I remember back during the promo era of Gibson guitars a lot of places either just gave them away later or sold them off really cheap. I kick myself now because I passed up a few guitars from that era because I didn’t wanna play a guitar that was a “billboard.” *EDIT* This model looks really cool! Get rid of that badge and just put trapezoid or block inlays on it and *BOOM*

If a person has a fiftieth anniversary Corvette car. this guitar would be a must have. especially if it was the same color. it would look really good sitting upright in the passenger seat. even though fiftieth anniversary Corvette's. weren't that great of Corvette's. because of how they changed the chassis on them. they ran the frame and everything down the middle of the car. which made the body twist. and they didn't handle as good as other Corvettes. but this guitar world be the perfect match a person that has the right car.
Throwing the COA away is almost as bad as refinishing a all OEM 1953 Vette with aerosol spray paint. Only exception would be perhaps if the artist was on the level of “Banksy” and the guitar was used by say Slash or Jimmy P for an epic Super Bowl halftime. I suppose being featured on Trogy’s Guitar Show makes up for it. #50 means if you can’t be 1st be the last: there were no more in the initial run after this one.
@Trog I've always been curious about the "just for fun" measurement. I'd love to see you go through some different guitars with very unique sounds/features based on the combination of pickups. My '57 Silvertone archtop has about 6" between the bridge and neck pickups (gold foil Kingston add-ons) and I've never heard anything like it.
Love the color, love the carve but hate the scoop on the top. Always love dual p-90s. The string through is cool but it needs ferrules would prefer regular dot inlay verses the writing and the logo is gaudy. So basically I love everything about the guitar and hate everything about the car branding. I think Gibson could sell these without the car stuff on it but that color those pickups and a slight carve on the slab. I know they would sell at least one (well assuming it he price is under $4000 which it should be)
Great episode. Once again you have made me freaking jealous. While the P90's would have to go, it looks like good wood. I am not a collector, so I would want to play the heck out of that thing.
So we are not going to hear you play "Little Red Corvette" for the demo..? Opportunity missed.! Oh well... You probably can not play it or risk demonitization! Anyway, cool to have it documented.

I’ve been waiting forever for them to come out with a guitar themed off of my car. Who wouldn’t want to play a 2006 Hyundai Elantra? 🔥
That's funny 😂
You rock bro🤘
Go pick up a Harley Benton. They are rebranded Hyundai tributes.
And a 2015 Hyundai Sonata or 2020 Mazda CX-5!!!
I've got the AMC Gremlin model guitar, and just like the car, it's a piece of shit! 😂
I really like the way the body is “rounded” over…it gives it a sleek look…very different from the usual gibson models…I dig it👍

They did a good job
I picked up the cardboard cutout of this at a garage sale over the summer break!

That mystery route next to the neck pickup was most likely put there for a left hand model?
I'd assume that the strange angle on the string-thru ferrules is to negate some of that body damage on the front by decreasing the break angle.
"body damage" on the front??
