    It's amazing how much Chinese influences there are with this style, especially the low block which is reminiscent of the body strike seen in many Kung Fu styles, it makes sense since Tangsoodo means the way of the Tang fist, Tang as in the Tang dynasty. Btw I knew about this style because of Havik from MK and Johnny Laurence from Karate Kid 😂

    Y'know the low block really works, when I was a kid I did martial arts and in my later teens a man tried to assault me. He came from out of nowhere and jumped on me from the front with his knee but my instincts from training just took over and I low blocked which resulted in me falling on my side which was much harder for him to pin me so he got up and ran away. If I hadn't blocked I would have had all my front vulnerable areas exposed and I don't know if I would have been sexually assaulted killed or both.
    Do all your training seriously and it will help you somehow! It helped a 54kg teen girl!

    Good evening, Sah Bum Nim. Do you know an equivalent technique in Tang Soo Do to the foot sweep in judo? I am pretty new to the Tang Soo Do world and trying to "translate" my previous martial art background into Tang Soo Do techniques. Ko Map Sum Ni Da.

    • @HOVTangSooDo
      @HOVTangSooDo  2 года назад +2

      So we have sweeping techniques in TSD. The Korean word would be "Bahl Mok Cha Ki" and translates as Ankle Sweep kick. hope that helps

      Shotokan and shorin-ryu both come from the shuri-te tradition. Tang Soo Do comes from shotokan. They're all related to each other and share some similarities regardless of what other influences has been added to each art.
