Yep this one is better than the Walt Disney world one. Better paced and better spacing and it seems like it has more animatronics rather than relaying on screens
I'd say the ride at Disneyland is even more fun than WDW. The pacing is so quick that around every corner something else is happening, wether its a new scene, animatronic, a little drop or the fact that your shoes just got soaked.
They really missed an opportunity with the final lift hill. The "Are you ready?" song directed to the shadow man would have heightened the anticipation of the final drop. But that wouldn't have gone with their story. :/
the ride is taking place after the princess and the frog movie/story. so its not going to be based on the movie with the shadow man. I really wanted Disney to do the are you real part with the shadow man too.
There is ways to still keep the PATF theming with a similar plot that revolves around Dr Faciliar, simply by having the search for musicians for the first part (remove the frogs or some how include them within the other bands) and have Faciliars spirit roam a dark side of the bayou where you accidentally float into instead of going towards the party, in which the current frog shrink scene could be suited for the dark side of the bayou where Faciliers spirit shrinks you down which could include some pretty scenic effects to further enhance the drop, and causes havoc such as large snacks, voodoo friends and magic, along with Are You Ready anticipating the drop, as soon as you reach the top Mama Odie could stay and quickly stop Faciliar and growing you back as you drop down with enhancing scenic effects into the bayou and float back to the party, an aftermath scene of Faciliars spirit and mama odie would be beyond the turn (where brer fox and brer bear once were) A plot like this would be suitable for both versions although I would also prefer if they simply brought splash back to MK so we could have both attractions in the US
Looks great! Wish they added the villain as well (Dr. Facilier, The Shadowman) didn’t notice him if he was there at all. But it seems very cheerful, welcoming, and a promising ride. Can’t wait to go myself. Awesome video! 😊
It's really wild how much better paced this is than MK's. Just a world of difference. It's funny because MK's Splash was better paced than DL's since there was so much more going on and MK's is slower paced, but now this works better at DL with the smaller number of animatronics. Yet somehow DL's goes slower through the final party scene which helps it too. Definitely designed for DL's version.
Splash mountain still had a better story and music that keep you whistling zip a Dee doo dah. It had more animatronics than this. People may disagree but I still say splash mountain was better
I’m surprised they didn’t add the voodoo man. He could’ve added some tensions and suspense making the ride that much better especially before the big drop (are u ready song). I personally think the og splash is better wish they kept it
6:40 just noticed that on the side of the rocks theres leaves that are huge but as we get higher up they get smaller since we get bigger. Wonder why they didn’t illuminate it, its a nice detail that goes with the story.
I’m still sad about no bump bump shadow man before the drop. Also the name should be Tiana’s bayou adventure at splash mountain cause I’m still gonna call it splash mountain
4:33 Tiana and Louis aren’t moving. 5:05 AC vents are visible, 7:08 Mama Odie is motionless except for her head, and 9:20 Mama Odie is almost motionless.
@@austintheboss87 its the same ride but with different theme. I think Disney decision was to obviously revamp that ride, because it was "outdated". But this ride is aiming towards new and younger kids. which obviously they have rides based off other Disney princess like Ariel, and snow White. I like the movies princess and the frog. But I can see your point of view here that Splash mountain was a childhood favorite and a nostalgia ride towards many people. So for Disney to rip away that ride it also might have taken part of peoples inner childhood, and the fondest memory of having a good time on splash mountain with that catchy song "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay! My, oh my, what a wonderful day. Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way, Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!" I don't think I been on splash mountain, maybe once when I was very little because I don't like water rides nor getting wet. But overall I like the princess and the frog animatronics those are nice but still splash mountain will always be a classic to the Disney parks and I can understand that and why people don't like the new revamp towards the ride.
This one has better pacing. The faster logs tend to make the ride more exciting and more urgent to get to the party. The thing I miss the most is the laughing place with the jumping fountains, colors, water, and music. And I wish the lift had suspense and tension. Otherwise, it’s an alright ride. Journey into Your Imagination was worse.
There's an uncanny quality to the high-end animatronics, and the low-end ones are abysmally limited in motion compared to their predecessors. RIP to the America Sings legacy.
Imagine the ride as the original movie. Where Tiana in her blue dress, kisses the frog and then we turn into frogs in the bayou while Dr faciller chases us with his demons! Imagine “are you ready” as you’re going up the hill and dr facillier poofs smoke and his eyes are showing in the dark as you splash down!!!! And then the ending is Tiana and naveens wedding, then a peppers ghost effect of the frogs turning into their human forms. Tiana in her beautiful green dress!!! With mama odie!!!
I think this was what a lot more people anticipated, and while it might not have been Splash caliber, it would have been a far more enjoyable version than this.
I just rode - it was a challenge getting in at all. The ride was not running before noon, and I missed the virtual queue despite being on right at noon. We were about to get lightning lane, booking around noon for 4:45. It's a fun ride, but bring as little on the ride as possible. The cars are tight, and both splash quite a bit of water on the drops, and have inches of water pooling on the bottom as it does not drain out right away. Your shoes will probably be soaked. Suggest slides or a spare pair.
This one is better....no dead space and not so darn dark. This is how it should have been in Florida. Maybe Disneyland listened to what people didn't like instead of what they did like.👍. Splash still reigns as the ultimate supreme though.😊..they got soaked😂😂😂😂
Went on the MK one last night, and just watched the two of them side-by-side. They just moved some of the animatronics from one side to the other or further down a little, but I agree the pacing is better on the DL. It also makes the ride about 2 minutes shorter than DW. I saw some complaints about getting too wet on the DL one and just watching this video, I can see what they mean. You look like you get drenched on the final drop. I rode in the back on the DW one and my legs and shoes were dry and just a few drops on my shirt.
Still a poor story, but it's definitely portrayed better in this layout. The story naturally moves along instead of awkwardly popping up every now and then. Man, I forgot all about that V shaped drop in the middle of the ride!
I love that they purposely made the Disneyworld Taina ride as the less one as the it was the 1st Tiana Bayou then in Disneyland is the (more) one as its the second Tiana Bayou ride. And as Splash Mountain its the opposite way around 1st SPLM was the Disneyland was the less and the Disneyworld SPLM was the (more). Disneyworld is to fit the Frontierland theme keeper keeping the Lousiana theme to take place near the desert And Disneyland is to fit with the New Orleans and Critter Country.

As someone who had no love for Splash Mountain, I have no real issues with the remake. With that said, the complaints in some ways are valid and quite frankly, they can definitely fix this ride in the coming years. I feel like having it follow the movie would have been better, but if they don't want to, a) get rid of the current plot and make a new one, b) don't handhold riders and instead just tell the story like all other good rides, and c) HAVE a good climax where we get a return of Dr Facilier and in turn get that ominous music leading up to the drop.
