When Chris was still in charge there was still no definitive date set and at that point any changes made to the game would still be potentially catastrophic. Now they have much more liberty to just connect the two games together, as we see now where we get an entire hub are from PoE 2 ported back into PoE 1.
Reading this thread is interesting, because the last I watched any major PoE announcements, Chris Wilson was still in charge. What's a short summary of the staff change? Lot of changes/updates here and recently seem to have gone over pretty well, unless I'm missing a lot? Been a while since I've played, but I don't know what it is about this city building league, I'm kinda psyched to play again.
It didn't need the Wildwood to comeback unless it's a full blown test of the auction house? because Affliction broke the economy! Dissapointed we can't trade items instantly.
@@mathewsmith8073 A lot of the things that made Affliction broken are kind of throttled this league just by virtue of implementation. Part of the problem was just having it in every map. Another part of it was it interacting with MF. Beyond that, I'm sure the numbers are more reasonable.
these are real OG Devs that are actually know what people want and what is missing. after almost 10 years of PoE im literally blown away by the amount of changes. Finally we get an AH. (bye bye price fixers and bots ;)) it will be such a gamechanger. and to implement a soft version of sim city or patrizier etc.. into the game is something i was hoping for a long time. i think everybody at some point in their gaming lifetime did play sim city, anno xyz, patrizier, theme park or whatever and did enjoy it. so i think its a win win if it feels good and right. you are the gigachads guys keep on trying new things and keep on adding massive content into new leagues. every dev in the world can look up to and learn something here. thats whats possible if you bring cool creative ideas to life and beeing connected with your audience! cheers guys greetings from germany. keep on rockin!
@@kylebusc3624Did you miss the new in-game automated anonymous trade market for currency in the announcements? Key word is "automated" - you can't list something with this new system and not sell it when someone is willing to pay, you don't even need to be online for it to happen. So the most primitive way of price fixing is dead for currency trade using new system. What is still possible - cornering the market by buying up everything below certain price and relisting at higher price but that's fine, it's still a major improvement over current situation of false low prices and no one actually selling at those prices. And don't forget, each transaction withing this system costs gold that is not tradeable itself, meaning that a person engaging in active re-selling of currencies will have to farm appropriate amount of gold.
@@kylebusc3624 i mean they will be gone for currency items for sure... pure logic right if you know how they operate. for all non currency items it will be still a problem. but hey how manny body armors do you buy in a league for you charakter??? maximum 3-4 i guess.. how manny currency items do you buy for your char over the course of a league? hundreds? thousands? there you go.... and so will some botters loose interest for sure they not gone but at least manny will move on cuz they made most monney from flipping and price fixing currency items.
A fantastic Q&A session. Amazing that it was even possible in person. Mark really reinspired confidence about the game for me with his elaborations. He acknowledged that a few things really went wrong in Necropolis and with the way he approached the design of Settlers by directly addressing some of the biggest pain points of the playerbase is very heartening.

One of the very few companies out there where you feel and understand that these guys love their game, and most importantly play it themselves. While unreasonable I like to imagine the entire staff of GGG is like that, playing this incredible game in their free time and enjoying the things they put into it, the passion toward the game definitely feels like that would be the case. This is literally the league of my dreams. I'm currently incapable of playing more than like an hour a day due to a chronic shoulder and arm injury, and I never expected the perfect league for my situation would arrive. Letting villagers run my maps brings out the idle game lover in myself. Anno League THANK YOU GGG !

Damn, I got and played Faster than Light because of you lol... Unfortunately life eventually caught up with me and it's been I don't know how many years since the last time I sat down to actually play a video game. Stumbled onto Asmongold's video about the new PoE league and my eyes shot up when I heard "Q&A with ZiggyD". I remember you doing a video talking about how you actually weren't a very confident person but eventually ended up convincing yourself to act confident, therefore convincing the people around you that you're a confident person. Yeah, of all the mechanics this looks the most scalable and natural for a core progression system. So much can be integrated into it as opposed to all leagues stacked on top of each other separately.

As a person who has only played 3 leagues I am so happy they are looking into an auction house. It's silly to me that I had to watch a guide explaining trade etiquette to understand what I need to do. Makes me happy again to see Dev's who actually play their game.
After watching the interviews for the D4 expansion and POE's new league content reveal, I am amazed to see that the free POE league and updates offer much more content than the D4 expansion, especially considering that the D4 expansion is not free.
Yeah... Lots of content casuals will never see... Every time I get back to it I stop at maps with my shitty builds, my inability to craft anything and the need to get your items with trade, not actual loot...
I really hope that they allow everyone in party to get resources. Instead of instance owner so that we can party for the campaign without rushing exits.
Mercenary system with equipments are my kind of game! Hopefully this system is well recieved enough so the devs can expand into this! Doesnt need to be something too complex, but an equipment like Heist would be cool.
have they said if the settler town is account bound or character? Like if you have your league starter and then create a new character do you have to start the town over? Same question but with gold, is gold shared across your characters or do you have separate gold per character?
They talked about the items from gambling having a similar system to necropolis, where lower tiers of affixes are removed from the possible pool. I've said this before in various places, but if they wanted to make dropped items more powerful overall, they'd simply have to remove lower tiers of affixes from the drop pool as item level increases. Obviously, there's some balance there. It doesn't make sense for T16s to only drop T1 rolls, but maybe removing an affix tier every 3 or 4 map tiers would work. I don't know if they can actually track this with in game data, but if this gambling market ends up being a big source of gear usage for the league, I'm hoping they look into enacting something like this for the core drop pool in the future.
15:40 wow i don't even think about div card. so you can collect div card easier this way. just offer the price for div card and if anyone want to sell for the price i paid i get it. no more price fixer and have to sell for cheap.
I wonder if corpses would go to the graveyard automatically without limit, and if itemized coffins would stack, how much better the league would be? I got annoyed choosing which corpses to burn pretty fast, even before big crafting attempts
I think I heard it - but not sure. So gold is not tradeable? Is the only way to make gold through drops then? Or do you get some from selling things etc.
I would love if allflames worked something like beasts and craft them directly onto maps like delirium layers. Take the map device UI and turn that into the crafting menu for each map to do the haunted mods and allflames. They could be an alternative use case for tormented spirits as far as getting the allflames to drop. I really enjoy being able to customize my drops for a semi ssf playstyle.
Really looking forward to doing a Delirium strat this league, it's always been one of my favorites, running through the mirror and then blasting the map as quick as possible, and now that you can get good div cards from Tropical Island...
@@ConnorGrummer yea that strat should be insane tbh. personally im looking at CoC FR for simus with the claw crit base changes. figure that should make life extremely easier. but tbh blight and deli have gotten a huge buff due to the currency exchange so itll be nice to see how everything works out. i may actually take a league off of simus and actually blast some maps doing exactly what you mentioned lol
Hmm, the boat is stationary but looks like its moving, mobs climb the sides as if its kinda like breach, rewards can be whatever, simple concept and people would like it if its simple and rewarding.
Many years ago I promised myself I wouldn't spend another dollar on PoE until they added a currency trading system in game. Finally, the day has come to swipe the card.
I never got to red map for the last 10 leagues maybe but what if there was a map that drop with good difficult mods but with no breaking build mekanics that is not tradable and very rewarding So you have a risk/reward, if you can't do it right now you have a objective of upgrading to try it
Rolling anything with currency - why not have a system you select mods you want or don't want (like when regexing) and the system then rolls the map using your currency until you get it. Alleviating another of the rsi inducing systems in poe.
@@OFDEVILS they mention related buffs and nerfs throughout the video, I feel they would’ve mentioned it if it was being removed. Also it makes sense, respec using gold during the campaign, use orbs later when you can farm them, makes sense. And this league may be the first league I make my own build so I’m kinda excited
@@OFDEVILS also if you freeze frame the bit where they show the list of currencies on the market list, you’ll see orbs of regret are still there. So yeah its styaing in it seems.
So if im understanding correctly this will be like the open trading that took place in D2 expansion where you could advertise an item or service i.e. rush, help, trade, leveling, etc, and people can join your game?
As a new player who started playing on Necropolis, I got really frustrated by the inventory problem regarding corpses. It felt like it was specifically designed to force me to buy quad tabs, for which I blamed GGG. But hearing from the developers themselves put things into perspective and really humanized them. They're great, down-to-earth guys. Great interview, loved it.

Intimidating Cry doesn't have any interaction with bleed, so that you know.

They talked about the items from gambling having a similar system to necropolis, where lower tiers of affixes are removed from the possible pool. I've said this before in various places, but if they wanted to make dropped items more powerful overall, they'd simply have to remove lower tiers of affixes from the drop pool as item level increases.
Obviously, there's some balance there. It doesn't make sense for T16s to only drop T1 rolls, but maybe removing an affix tier every 3 or 4 map tiers would work. I don't know if they can actually track this with in game data, but if this gambling market ends up being a big source of gear usage for the league, I'm hoping they look into enacting something like this for the core drop pool in the future.
That currency trade could have white maps, and maybe un identified maps, all in the same stack.

I wonder if corpses would go to the graveyard automatically without limit, and if itemized coffins would stack, how much better the league would be? I got annoyed choosing which corpses to burn pretty fast, even before big crafting attempts

Gold is not tradable. You get gold for killing monsters.
I would love if allflames worked something like beasts and craft them directly onto maps like delirium layers. Take the map device UI and turn that into the crafting menu for each map to do the haunted mods and allflames. They could be an alternative use case for tormented spirits as far as getting the allflames to drop. I really enjoy being able to customize my drops for a semi ssf playstyle.

@@ConnorGrummer yea that strat should be insane tbh. personally im looking at CoC FR for simus with the claw crit base changes. figure that should make life extremely easier. but tbh blight and deli have gotten a huge buff due to the currency exchange so itll be nice to see how everything works out. i may actually take a league off of simus and actually blast some maps doing exactly what you mentioned lol

Hmm, the boat is stationary but looks like its moving, mobs climb the sides as if its kinda like breach, rewards can be whatever, simple concept and people would like it if its simple and rewarding.

Rolling anything with currency - why not have a system you select mods you want or don't want (like when regexing) and the system then rolls the map using your currency until you get it. Alleviating another of the rsi inducing systems in poe.

Also it makes sense, respec using gold during the campaign, use orbs later when you can farm them, makes sense. And this league may be the first league I make my own build so I’m kinda excited
@@OFDEVILS also if you freeze frame the bit where they show the list of currencies on the market list, you’ll see orbs of regret are still there. So yeah its styaing in it seems.

As a new player who started playing on Necropolis, I got really frustrated by the inventory problem regarding corpses.
It felt like it was specifically designed to force me to buy quad tabs, for which I blamed GGG.
But hearing from the developers themselves put things into perspective and really humanized them.
