@@TheEvilTacos Yeah, and what exactly was the "real" problem, then? Tell us what conspiracy the devs are up to. Clearly you know more than the rest of us, lmao.
What they improved in this re-uploaded version: 1 - The overall quality of the video is much better. 2 - Some moments now feature their original audio recorded from the gameplay footage. Previously, these sounds were replaced during editing with other sound effects. But, in some instances, the edited sounds were better than what’s in-game, like the sound at 1:32. 0:42 Moment: Two pit drones are shown, and we get a clear view of their spikes. This scene is much cooler than in the first teaser upload. 1:58 Moment: The barnacle footage is new, replacing the earlier clip with an ERROR in the background. With the improved video quality, it’s clear that the ceiling is fully textured and doesn’t have any dev texture. Even in the previous footage, if you looked closely, you could see it wasn’t a dev texture, but the low quality made it appear that way. 2:07 Moment: The alien grunt scene has been shortened to 5 seconds from 9 seconds. And looks much better. 2:11 Moment: The scene of Sharped jumping over the toxic water has been shortened to 4 seconds from 6 seconds. It now features a smoother transition between footage compared to the previous teaser. 2:14 Moment: The footage of Sharped turning the VALVe is the same as before, but now it comes immediately after the jump over the toxic water. 2:18 Moment: A completely new gameplay segment. Just take a look at that. 2:24 Moment: The footage from this moment has been repositioned. It now plays right after the new gameplay segment instead of after the toxic water jump. This re-uploaded gameplay teaser looks much cooler and more polished compared to the first version. P.S. The video editor goes by the nickname @MagmaSloth64 on RUclips.
Wow very detailed analysis, good eye! Yea the shootout with the agrunt in the control room and the electric slime room were pretty rough shots so i shortened them and made room for a new scene of the vort tunnels.
I wouldn't say that until it's out. This has been in development for longer than Black Mesa at this point and has delivered a lot less, not to mention the "everything" was the developers alienating their own team with their extremist politics and general toxicity. Fubar just started up and is already making promising progress. Black Mesa: Blue Shift is nearly completed. Both of these projects haven't been in development nearly as long. Black Mesa took forever but delivered something exceptionally polished, making it more than worth the time it took to come out. Right now a lot of this looks very janky, animations look stiff, the enemies shown here feel like NPC's some one would cram together in an hour or two of coding, lacking that polish to make them feel alive. Gun animations look stiff, mapping quality is okay. Maybe they prove me wrong and release something good. The fact remains that regardless of where you stand on their politics, this has been in development for a very long time, and yet resembles your run of the mill medium effort source mod.
i've seen people complaining about the reload animations being way too "cod-like", but i personally like them and think they fit the military style of the game, since yknow, adrian is a special forces operator and is trained extensively on weapons handling
As a military man, Adrian reloads weapons not very well. Pistols hold like in the 60s 70s. Shotguns can be loaded faster using the very popular Load two loading technique, you can read about it. In general, the verdict is that those who have never held a weapon in their hands will like it, but for people like me who deal with weapons, this is an eyesore.
This complaint people have about the animations makes absolutely zero sense to me given that what people are complaining about seems to be the literal exact _opposite_ of "COD-like." People are complaining that the animations are too stiff or whatever, yet the animations seem very naturalistic in their style to me compared to the ridiculously overexpressive style of weapon animations in modern shooters like COD. In a modern shooter like COD, every action makes the gun wobble like it's on a spring, and every hand movement is an overdramatic flourish. Modern shooters do this in the name of making the weapon animations "slick" and "stylish," yet it's completely ridiculous compared to the very matter-of-fact way in which people handle weapons in the real world. I really, sincerely hope that if they do change the weapon animations in future because of all the current feedback they're getting, that they _ignore_ the complaints about the style of the animations that are everywhere here, and instead lean even _further_ into naturalistic, realistic animations by only really listening to feedback such as that of the reply above me - in which the guy is only pointing out how certain reload styles are unrealistic from a purely real-world standpoint rather than complaining nonsensically about the overall look of the animations from a purely stylistic standpoint like everyone else.
@@стефанкапинос Also as someone who owns a Desert Eagle I can definitely attest to the recoil being wildly insufficient but firearm inaccuracies are the norm when it comes to source games which I've come to terms with.
Adrian is a Marine, not a "special forces operator". Many of the techniques used in the reloads are too recently discovered. Gun training was different in the early 2000s.
Incredible this is on the Source engine. Really speaks volumes of how ahead of it's time HL2 (and thus Source) was, given it's from 2004, but the physics, animation, rendering (with some obvious additions like PBR shaders) holds up today. i noticed in some clips the pistols are held differently, others look closer to their physics based magazines video origins while others seem to do the tilted hold, is this just because the clips are from different times of development? im personally not fond of the latter, i really liked the viewmodels of the physics mag video where you can see more of the gun's model and adrian's hands i really like the new zombie animations, they feel closer to the stronger-feeling hl1 zombies than the weak and frail hl2 zombies, i also like the alien grunt and his very uh, nice legs 👀but can see why some people dont like it
It's because there was a bug, due to an incomplete feature, that caused the viewmodels to be in a weird position. So some of the clips were recorded before that was fixed. 2:18, for example, is the correct viewmodel position of the deagle.
There's actually been a ton of media dropped in the last 3 years. You might not have seen it though if you don't follow the Twitter account. RUclips only has a very tiny portion of the media. Most is on Twitter and Discord.
I'm hoping that too, though I'm worried the clip at 2:08 has some smoke and mirrors. He shoots left which could just make the Grunt move the other way to where there happened to be cover. Hopefully I'm wrong and the Grunt did realize the cover with only his gun and head showing was the right place to go in the situation, because that'd be great if they move around to cover their giant bodies and it's a little tactical challenge to overcome. 1 or 2 grunts behind cover and another rushing you, then add your squad mates to the mix alongside a well designed arena and some black ops with their own set of tactics and motivations, the fights could be fantastic.
@ it makes sense that they’d implement an AI like that for the Grunt given how the HL1 grunt would shoot around corners to deny you cover.. something the BMS grunt doesn’t seem to really do.
How cool it looks! Of course, some of the animations are clumsy and I hope you'll work on them, but the feeling of body movement from gunfire is very cool.
2:24 I see Black Mesa has been taking some inspiration from Aperture with the "massive room with catwalks and pipes" school of architecture. Jokes aside, looks great! My only criticism is that a lot of the weapons don't feel powerful, if that makes sense. I think it's the lack of muzzle flash that causes this.
ive been following this proyect for almost a decade, perfection takes time and im honestly way more excited to play this and guard duty than hl3 lol, keep up the good work guys.

The level design and lighting look stunning, but the animations and gunplay still seem pretty rough around the edges. Love the continuity in some areas with Black Mesa as well.

I like how even though it has its own graphical style, it still looks congruent with the Black Mesa Source version of the events, so that this game would properly feel like a parallel to that game. :)
