Simply perfect in every respect! This is how this piece must sound.
I watched this concert live. It was the first time I had ever seen the Berlin Philharmonic live and it was like a dream come true. The whole orchestra had a connection that I had never seen before. I was truly between masters of this art.
Although it was not shown here, the first half of this concert was also fenomenal. Hope I will be able to attend another concert from this great orchestra in the near future!
I also watched this concert live and I can only agree with what you said. I did really enjoy the mixture of all three free pieces from Stravinsky, Zimmermann & Rachmaninoff.
I also watched this concert live in Cologne and I also agree with u. Berliner Philharmoniker and Petrenko were fabulous and I was totally involved into the music. What a spectacular performance!!

What is the name of the timpanist? Couldn’t find it from BPO official website.
His name is Benjamin Forster. He was solo timpanist from 2018-2021 and is playing in Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich now. Greetings from Berlin!
