Thank you, thank you, thank you! Exactly the same problem in my 2015 RAV4. I'm a senior citizen and didn't trust taking my car to the dealership. My neighbor very kindly fixed it for me using your video.
I assumed this was the fix because it's logical. Saw another vid but that vid wasn't as clear and was confusing. This video is a lifesaver. Thank you so much. My wife will be happy. Happy wife happy life.
Thank you!!! Just bought a car with this issue and was able to fix it. Didn’t think it would be as simple as pulling the part of the lever over the release clip! 🙌🏼🙂
Your video is still helping. Following this I was able to fix my Rav. Try to move the seat foward. You can lift the silver lever to disengage the seat rail to move it forward so you have lots of room in back seat. Another easier way to help facilitate moving black lever under the silver lever is using a foot long socket extension. I used the extension going under between the black and silver levers. Using the bottom rail as the fulcrum. I pulled towards middle of car. Then I was able to nudge the silver lever under. Then using the seat frame above I slightly bent the black lever outward. Pushing toward outside of car. Be gentle This makes it so much easier. Again thanks for the video.
OMG you are a life savers this issue has been on my mind for months and I looked for a video like yours without result, thank you so much for uplodaing this
Thank you so much! We have struggled with this seat for a few years now. I wasn't able to fix it yet but was able to release the seat so my passenger doesn't eat the dashboard since it was locked all the way forward.
This just happened to me and I was thinking about where I was going to have to go to get it fixed. Well, I've fixed many things put on RUclips so I thought I would at least look. Less than 5 minutes and it was working again. Thank you so much for the video. Exactly how mine was broken as well.
HELLZ F*N YEAH !!! I followed your steps on my daughters RAV4 2013 and it worked great, before i saw your video i was farting around with it for about an hour and couldn't figure it out, as usual go to RUclips and look for answers, your video and steps help me out tremendously, thank you.
I actually broke my car again and found your video again, thank goodness. This time, I didn’t need any tools, I just pull the lever in the front and I was able to reposition it to the rightful place. Thanks again!
Same problem here with my RAV4. I used a long shoe metal horn to bring it up. From the back of the seat (under the seat), the handle of the metal shoe horn was placed on the part of the lever. Pulled the shoehorn and it just slip back on top of the seat lock or release and the spring. Thanks. It seems this is a common problem with RAV4.
Does it really move to the side that easily? I tried using my hand earlier, and it was impossible. i'll try with pliers tomorrow. My seat is pushed all the way back so it's kind of difficult to get in there.
Excellent. Same issue with my car but the black lever does not stay on the top of the other lever, it slips and back to the same issue. Please advise any other solution. Thanks
I had to come and look for this video because someone said I entered her car yesterday, and because I am overweight, the seat is stuck,so I have to pay her mechanic to fix it. hmmm

Thanks for this. Toyota dealership said it couldn't be fixed. And would be 2k to replace the whole seat fitting. Works just fine now.

Yea, It is difficult even with pliers. I put in shim in behind the black lever to help keep it from coming off again.
You are a life saver!
Excellent. Same issue with my car but the black lever does not stay on the top of the other lever, it slips and back to the same issue. Please advise any other solution. Thanks
