  • Superman should NEVER Be Allowed To Make Decisions...let at least some of them. We know there are infinite amounts of Supermen in the Multiverse, but sometimes I just think he is so dumb...for example the Superman in Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League, what about Injustice Superman and even some DC comic iterations of Superman are terrible at thinking through important decisions. With that said let me know what you think? Was I correct in saying that Superman for the most part shouldn't make decisions and if I'm not let me know some examples of Superman in the Multiverse that were actually good at making decisions. With that said if you enjoy this superman rant video make sure to leave a like, sub and comment below suggestions for future videos!

The argument "the writers made Superman that way" doesn't pass.
DC approved this game. We're not 1990s Nintendo approving CD-i Zelda and only later regretting it - we're in 2024 and if DC approves a Superman that would get mindcontrolled by Brainiac then that's what Superman is, a moron that killed his entire crew.

Comic corporations dont work like that. We're not 1960's Marvel where all rights to Spider-Man were relegated to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby - We're in 2024 where DC has previously approved Snyder's movies and All-Star Batman, so I guess that Batman is officially a crackhead who kidnapped a child and had sex with his best friend's daughter with burning corpses in the background

To be fair, nobody really listens when Superman is right about evil aliens.
    - In DCAU, Darkseid comes to the League for help while being invaded by Brainiac, and Superman warns them saying "Don't help him. He's going to backstab you all. You don't know him like I do." And Batman's response is basically "We know he used you and discarded you like trash. Cry me a river." And Superman ends up being right anyway?
    - In Justice League Dark, random people are going crazy and Superman's like "Hey guys, maybe magic is an issue". And Batman again shuts him down saying "Maybe spend more time on the streets instead of flying over them." And he ends up being right again.
It's not Superman’s fault the League doesn't listen to him when he talks logically, but is ready to follow him whenever he says something dumb.

@@marvel0973 Thing is, whenever Batman is wrong, fans don't focus on it because they're too busy focusing on his badass one-liners and jabs at his teammates which he uses to cover up his mistakes.
Like my above two examples, where Batman is wrong on both accounts, but fans focus more on his lines
-> "We know he used you, humiliated you, and threw you away like trash. Cry me a river."
-> "Maybe spend more time on the streets instead of flying over them"
You want more examples? In Final Crisis, Batman creates an Orwellian spy system called Brother Eye which falls into the hands of his enemies and becomes a threat to the world. Instead of focusing on that, fans focus on the line where he takes a shot at Superman by saying "The last time you inspired someone was when you were dead."
Even in Tower of Babel (or JL Doom), instead of focusing on the fact that Batman's security is so shit that villains broke into it and stole the weaknesses of the top heroes of the world, they focus on the line where Batman is calling the League braindead morons.
Hell, in Batman vs Superman movie, where Batman is 100% in the wrong, people once again focus on his one-liner "You're not brave. Men are brave."
The TL;DR is basically that Batman has world-ending dumb moments too. It's just that the story itself doesn't focus on his mistake, whereas it 100% focuses on Superman whenever he makes a world-ending mistake.

    Okay, so a few things.
1 - Injustice Superman is a terrible example, since he's an alternate version of the character. One that is different enough to make the choices he did. Baseline Clark would probably not... you know, become a dictator.
2 - I know you're a casual, I'm not so deep into comics like some people, but most people tend to think "Superman is just a himbo and boring and Batgod can defeat anyone with preptime". That is... False, Superman has always had a Hercules type balance of brain and brawn, using clever thinking to gather where he should apply his strength and executing that in a solution. Sure, Batman has a whole computer and a scientific level knowledge of chemistry, biology, escapology... But to Superman's credit, he did answer the unanswerable riddle of the Sphinx, so that's a W
3 - It's... Kinda ironic that you show clips from Justice League Action, because they had an episode that had Superman on a Red-sun planet, without powers, with a broken leg, and still winning against troops from Apokolyps through luck and wit.
4 - SS:KJL is terribly written. And you seem to be basing your entire video on that... Yeah... That's not a good representation of the character.... Or any others. Though he does have a point, they dont know who Brainiac is and where he's from. Maybe the ship isn't a skull to intimidate, maybe it's just how they look. Like a human building a ship that looks like a giant head. Or maybe it's supposed to resemble a God. You can't just assume that something is a threat without context like that

To be fair, most versions of Superman are raised by the Kents, and when you are raised in a farm, sure it does give you character in the sense that you learn to live off the land, and you probably learn about patience and a bunch of other things such as hard work, but being in a farm basically disconnects you from the outside world, which is why Superman is meant to be naive and the " big blue boy scout", because he had to live a sheltered life until he became a man and then moved to Metropolis, and while living in Metropolis and struggling is where you could say he finally started developing, which is why he was taken as a fool so many times, and its why despite him always trying to have the best of intentions, it is that naive and kind heart of his that is always taken advantage of, and its the reason why Superman is one of the heroes that wishes the most to just be a regular person, because in many times he just feels like he doesn't live to the responsibility that his powers basically require, and if given the choice he would gladly give up his powers as he has done many times, until he realizes that the world does need a Superman and then he comes back, because his good nature just likes to help people and believes in the best out of everyone.
The people that do not understand this character are the writers, because things such as the Injustice Superman should have never existed, unless it was a Superman that was raised by someone else than the Kents or something, such as the Red Son story and a couple of elseworld stories, because the real Superman has been through a lot of stuff, far worse than what happened to the Injustice Superman, but he didn't snap like the Injustice version because as he always says there is always a way, and he will always figure out a way to make the save in the end, and that is what makes him Superman, but I do agree that maybe someone else should be making the decisions, since in many cases Superman has allowed for danger to be a threat, just because he has underestimated it due to his overconfidence and then later regrets his actions, but in a way that does make him more human despite his alien heritage, than most of his buddies that when they get powers such as Batman, they let it fully go to their head and do a bunch of crazy stuff, that then ends up in him having to be stopped for his own good.

If Lana Lang is in the Injustice Universe, would’ve she help put Clack/Superman on the right path away from Wonder Woman’s toxicity/control?
They are childhood sweethearts at one time in the comics so it would make a lot of sense that his path to redemption would be rough one but worth it when Darksied comes to invade Earth again to avenge the death of his son Kalibak.
Even though Grodd did mentions her and we have yet to know if she is still around, Lana would’ve help Superman overcome his grief and give Superman a bit chance to change his heart to make him more of an anti-villain by making the ultimate sacrifice. You got to remember that Superman is the most human character in the comic book history.

For every poor decision making Superman, there is another which is smart:
    Main comic Superman
Superman The animated series/ Justice League Superman
    Batman/Superman Brave and the Bold
    Superman Red Son
    All Star Superman
    To name a few.
And let's not pretend now Batman has not had his fair share of poorly written versions as well:
    All Star Batman
Suicide Squad game Batman (a complete mockery of him and every member of the JL)
The Problem I find with Injustice is that, the story is created from the start to give Batman ways out of being defeated, that he really shouldn't, it feels like it was written with a very anti-Superman slice to it.
And the every all powerful 'prep time' excuse used by die hard fans gets tiring after a while, because not all his plans work out and it seems his 'contingency plans' for his own rogue gallery don't seem to work half the time either, so I can't see how all his plans for the Justice League would work as well.
In reality Batman is more likely the one to crack and go all rogue and tyrant, than Superman is. We never get one of those stories.

Something that not a lot of people have noticed about Injustice Superman is that while Wonder Woman pushed him into becoming a tyrant, he actually became something uncontrollable that she didn't intend to create. As an example, in the comics Superman went absolute psycho mode and tried to kill Flash after he saved Batman, even when Wonder Woman and other League members tried to stop him. In the movie this was shown at the end when Superman was going to kill the Insurgency despite Wonder Woman's protests and attacked her, maybe even trying to kill her. Let's not forget when he torched the Joker Clan and tried to cover it all up. Wonder Woman may have pushed him in some ways, but he still made a lot of bad decisions on his own without her direct influence.

Also, his plan was "hold the parademons while I kill Darkside". He actually thought it'd be that easy to kill Darkside and that he could do it by himself.
There was probably no plan that could save them from the paradooms, but that doesn't justify Superman's awful excuse for a plan

    • @gustavoshigueo
      @gustavoshigueo 2 месяца назад

I think Darkside had just finished creating the paradooms, hence the spy drone things he launched in the beginning of the movie. Which, again shows how much smarter than Superman Darkside is: he knows he is much more powerful than any member of the League, he knows there's no way they can defeat the paradooms, but still he sends a recon mission and spies on the League's reaction to that recon mission.
I also agree with your other point. Superman died only a couple movies before, that could make him angry and careless, but he knew Darkside created Doomsday and at no point did he think "Damn, that thing killed me, Darkside is probably gonna make more of those things". That never crossed his mind, the League expected only regular parademons when they really should be expecting an army of Doomsday (not the paradooms, there's no way they'd know about those without doing recon)

    Superman's Decision Making:
Comic Casual, you’ve opened up a fascinating can of worms with your video “Superman Should NEVER Be Allowed To Make Decisions.” It’s a provocative title that certainly grabs attention! You’re right in pointing out that the Multiverse has shown us many versions of Superman, and not all of them have a stellar track record when it comes to decision-making.
Take, for example, the Superman from “Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.” His portrayal as a mind-controlled antagonist certainly doesn’t do him any favors in the wisdom department. Then there’s the Injustice Superman, who, driven by grief and anger, becomes a tyrant. These iterations highlight a Superman who, when faced with extreme circumstances, can make some questionable choices.
However, it’s also important to remember that Superman is often depicted as the moral compass of the Justice League and a symbol of hope. There are numerous instances across various media where Superman’s decisions have led to positive outcomes. For instance, in the animated series “Justice League Unlimited,” Superman’s leadership and decision to trust his teammates often save the day. In the comics, particularly in storylines like “All-Star Superman,” we see a Superman who is thoughtful, introspective, and makes sacrifices for the greater good.
Your point is well-taken, though. Superman, like any character with immense power, should perhaps be more of a team player rather than a sole decision-maker. It’s a balance that writers and creators have been exploring for years, and it’s what makes the character so enduring and intriguing.
As for examples of Superman making good decisions, let’s not forget about the times he’s chosen to spare his enemies instead of resorting to violence, or when he’s used his powers to avert natural disasters without any collateral damage. These actions show a Superman who is not only powerful but also wise and compassionate.
In conclusion, while there are certainly examples of Superman’s poor decision-making, there are just as many, if not more, examples of him being a beacon of good judgment. It’s this complexity that keeps fans coming back for more. And yes, I did enjoy your rant! It’s always refreshing to see passionate fans engage with these iconic characters. Keep the videos coming, and I’ll be sure to leave a like, subscribe, and drop more suggestions for future content. 👍🦸‍♂️🌟

The problem is that when Superman makes a mistake, the consequences are dramatic because you make big decisions on a map.
Batman is the smartest, and he's always calculating, thinking of plan B, plan C, plan B.2, etc. When you compare it to Batman, Superman looks not as bright.

Characters I would NOT TRUST to make a plan the Joker & Superman...

I don't think it's fair to use SSKTJL or Injustice as examples for Superman making terrible choices, or at least singling him out, when almost everyone in those games make awful decisions. Batman made bad calls in all three of these continuities too.

Kill the justes league should have been batman form the justes league were brainac controls the members of the league before they join the team and the reason they lost was due to fighting brainac alone so bat man goes around saving each member of the league to form a team to fight brainac.
