Andréanne Langevin - Quebec Parents and Policies on Language in School

Andréanne Langevin is a student at McGill University in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Her research focuses on Language Policy in the Quebec School System. This presentation showcases preliminary results of a 4-month focus group study where 44 parents from diverse backgrounds discuss their children's experiences with language learning in Quebec schools. The participants also share their opinion on Bill 101, a successful yet controversial language policy that ensures the vitality of the French language in the province of Québec.

Thanks for the interesting talk. Another data point that might be interesting is how much they care - it could be that a minority want the law strengthened, but they care very deeply, while a majority want it weakened, but it’s not live-or-die.
Other things I’m curious about:
What dialect of French is taught in Quebec? Parisian or Quebecois?
Did parents of kids in French schools say their kids had difficulty learning English to a high level, to be able to attend university etc. in English?
Is knowedge of French a requirement for employment in Quebec?
How are the French competencies of kids that go to English schools?
