- In this video I give the results of my Facebook Group Owners Satisfaction Survey. I also talk about some of the gripes that people have shared with me about the bikes. This is a very informative video for those looking into these bikes so watch the whole thing for good info.

When it comes to the Kayo K6 250-EFI that I purchased, I wasn't just looking at the price. I wanted BANG for the BUCK! I was looking at the quality. If the quality wasn't there, I wasn't interested. That's a deal killer. I had the mind set when we left to go look at them (120 miles away), that it could possibly be the typical "Amazon" motorcycle shipped to your door with lower end Chinese quality, but was also doubtful that that would be the case, because REAL motorcycle dealerships were carrying them in their show rooms. Any way, we left with cash in hand and headed on out to the dealer. As soon as we got there, and I walked up to the bike and looked it over, the first thing that jumped in my head was "WOW! this really is Japanese quality". The three high end bikes they offer are the K6-R, K6-EFI and the KT-250 two stroke. All the Bikes that Kayo offers are well built. Even the pit bikes. The K6-R, K6-EFI, and KT250 Two Stoke are the exceptional of the lot. The Zongshen engines are bullet proof! This bike will out ride me. I refuse to pay $10,000 to $12,000 for a dirt bike. All I did to mine was add an APX skid plate (Needed slightly modified and fit like a glove), and Fisch spark arrestor.
What bike model skid plate did you purchase to modify?

Dave, I am so glad you keep doing these videos regarding the Kayo line of bikes. I think what you, Ben, and Joe are doing provides better perspective and opens up people's minds to a more affordable alternative to buying a 6 year-old used bike for the same money that will surely have gremlins and added expenses to get back in full working order.
I hope that as time goes on and these bikes catch on the manufacturers will respond to consumer feedback. I would like to see a larger aftermarket support for these units and I think that the popularity would increase 10 fold. Thanks for excellent content regarding these bikes because there is too little info available on them.
Thanks...try to do what I can to show how they are getting better and offer an affordable option to those of us that think 9-10 thousand dollars for a dirt bike is just to much.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave I think unless you are racing AMA A or B class competitively, spending 10 to 12k on a new MX bike from the big 7 just isn't necessary. For those who are weekend warriors just looking to have some fun these Kayo offerings are more than adequate and priced way to attractively to argue the value.
@@killacoiler1707 you know that's how I feel about the K6R & K6 EFI...they both do different things , but do them well and at an affordable price.
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave where the Kayo line really shines is in the air cooled light duty trail bike segment because you are getting better suspension, better brakes, and a better riding position than you would on a CRF 230 or TTR 230. The funny thing is that the Chinese engines produce better low end torque too. So the MX and Enduro machines may not be on the exact same power levels but the entry level trail machines are superior in almost every sense and still come in 1 to 1500 bucks cheaper. It is hard to argue Kayo's value in that segment unless you are a stickler for resale value of your thrashed out bike.
@@killacoiler1707 T2 and T4 don't seem to as good as K series...carbs and wheels seem to be what people complain about with those...but yes in general I would say they are high value if you set them up well and do maintenance.
I wish more people would give them a look..also the dealers and parts could be much better
I also just purchased a GPX Moto TSE 250R two stroke. A beautiful, quality bike! I purchased it because the same dealer sold their last KT 250.
Yeah, the GPX And Kayo KT250 are very similar...exact same engine, based on the old Yamaha Dt230...I don't think you'll be disappointed. 😁👍
@@Dirt_Bike_Dave I was shooting for the Kayo, but the dealer I got my K6-EFI from sold it one day before I could get there, so I snapped up the GPX. Super happy with it too! It's just an excuse to get the Kayo KT later. Can never have too many bikes!
@@Joeak74 my buddy has the GPX TSE-250R and he upgraded the carb with a Smart Carb and it seriously changed the power delivery on it. It is far more punchy off the bottom with excellent slow speed throttle response. It is not an overly cheap upgrade but IMO is well worth the investment because the carb self adjusts for atmospheric conditions such as elevation, humidity, and temperature. It is an extremely fun machine but the suspension is not going to withstand MX style riding.
If Kayo were to put the KT-250 engine in the K6R frame it would be the ultimate do all machine IMO. I will say this because I have not ridden the KT-250 the TSE-250R is a great adventure machine that will soak up the choppy conditions well and handle the demands of single track Enduro style riding without needing much in the way of tweaks. The suspension is the weakest link in my experience because it is undersprung IMO.
If you consider what Dave mentions in this video about the age bracket of the purchaser of these bikes we are not 160 pound fresh out of high school athletes we are middle aged men who teeter on the brink of the 200lb mark or better which I think is a dynamic that these manufacturers need to be advised of and address by respringing and valving the suspension for us heavier riders. If not in the assembly process at the factory, at least design and stock it as an option so that it can be done at the dealership before taking delivery of the vehicle. Just because we are older or heavier does not mean we ride more conservatively; I still like to attack the straights coming off a corner and send it and I'm 225 in my gear and 50 years old. Maybe I suffer wrist pump and fatigue quicker than I used to. But I am still young at heart and enjoy the thrills.
@@killacoiler1707 awesome reply! Love it! The smart carb is, in my opinion, WAY to expensive. The stock carb that is PROPERLY JETTED will work great!. Lots of people go the start carb way, because they don't know how to jet. I get it, but $600-$700 is money you shouldn't have to put in a new bike to make it run properly. I ride at basically the same altitude all the time, so a jetted stock carb is fine.
I've been watching you vids, and just now joined your facebook page. I'll be 60 in March, own a 2019 CRF250F that I bought brand new in 2019. Been riding the trials of Western South Dakota, (the Black Hills), and absolutely love my bike. It's tons more capable than my fat, old rear end. However, I did a Hare Scramble in September 2021, and needed a bit more power in a couple of sections. Now, I have no desire to spend the money on a YZ250FX, but the K6-EFI looks like it would be just about the perfect compromise. I'd prefer to buy new instead of buying someone else's problems with a used bike. The only thing I'm worried about is skidplate, hand guards, and spark arrestor. I did put just shy of $1K of suspension on my CRF, and don't want to do the same with a new bike. Still studying, and trying to decide between the K6R, and the EFI model. Really like the EFI on my CRF, and have had zero problems with the bike, (other than the lack of power in the rare circumstances I think I need it). Thanks for the vids, and the info on f/b.

Not bad....they add all these extra fees around here and others have said the same.

I am purchasing the EFI next week how are yours holding up?
I saw another owner say he added bleeder to forks. These build up too much pressure in forks if you have model without bleeders. It blows the fork seals.
Im really on the fence about getting a kayo and setting up. for a dual sport

What about upgrading the exhaust
Currently no one makes after market exhaust, bur rhe stock pipe and silencer are pretty Good and are not heavy.

Agreed to question one. The price on European bikes is getting out of control hence I am going down the GPX route in the UK and will have two bikes for the price of one. Interesting Dave thank you. Oh and hit the trails its a whole new world.
Hey Bud. Just checked out your newest video..similar to mine 🤣 ..there are some guys who put a YZ 250 pipe on that thing..also some porting...it can be modded for more power if you need it.

@@Dirt_Bike_Dave thank you!! Only 3 hrs and now it's backfiring when shifting and a little boggy at low rpm. Hope it's the plug... K6 EFI...VP non ethanol 94 oct.

@@colt454how hard were you riding it the first few hours you're supposed to take it easy and break them in for at least 10 to 13 hours before you get on it I'm not trying to be disrespectful I'm just wondering I'm purchasing one next week thank you
I have a k6r ,I adjusted the forks and rear shock ,now I'm 5ft6so I touch but not ,let me tell u ,this bike is awesome, once u get used to it and become one ,the only thing is that the stering is limited to around 65degrees ,needs to be around 75 80 degrees ,and to let u know honda rear pads fir these bikes ,of changing my whole rear brake system to a honda one
All of us old dudes (me 56) just need to lose 20 lbs, and ba-da-bing, lighter bike with rider.

@@RobboRobinson Rob, I still have not put in the jet kit. It just started warming up. Off for four days next week. Hang tight. I hope riding these bikes makes me much more limber and less sore of a back. These bikes are the best type of exercise equipment! My wife would beg to differ.

I can't count how many folks purchase a dirt bike that is WAY more that there riding capabilities. That equals wasted money. On the other end of the spectrum, look at the 2022 Yamaha DT 230. $5,400 BEFORE dealer mark up, so add a grand. That's $6400 for a 30 year old design and it still has a DRUM brake! WTF Yamaha? The Brady bunch used drum brakes.
