    I have been using the Pro for a few months with the smart probe. One thing I noticed is that if I leave the smart probe in the meat while it's resting, the heat from the probe will actually cause the steak to cook. I discovered this when I cooked two steaks side by side on the Ninja. After I removed them from the grill when the temp read 120 I noticed that the temperature rose up to 150 within a few minutes. After that I cut into both and the one without the probe inserted was a perfect medium rare. The one with the probe was medium -well to almost well-done. Both steaks were the same size.

    Thank you so much. I just used my grill with the probe for the very first time. I followed the instructions to the "t". I had a mini panic attack when the grill just shut off (I didn't see that it would do that in the instructions and I have on new glasses ;->). I lifted the lid and the chicken breasts looked done. I took them out and let them rest and cut one open. Done!!! They were delicious. I look forward to more of your videos. Best small appliance purchase I made in years right here. I got their cheaper base model and it still does an awesome job under heavy use for the past year and a half. Their unique no stick surface is still like new. Best small appliance for small apartments and high-rise condominiums where a gas balcony BBQ is not allowed. This thing sears and cartelizes things perfectly.

    This is an excellent comparison video with your last steak prep. There is a strong temptation to order the new device. However; these vids show that the older Foodi is not exactly obsolete yet. The grill marks are nice and would certainly impress visitors. But the one thing you didn’t do in the first vid was sear the steak in the bottom of the pot before broiling it. So if anyone really wanted searing on the steak, they can still get it with their older Foodi without feeling they’ve been left behind. I don’t think it’s something that would make a difference to me. I find the browning from the Air Crisp more than adequate in all my uses. But one thought I did have is I would certainly reconsider very carefully before dropping $1000 on a big propane grill to sit outside through the winter. I wouldn’t advise any friends spend on anything propane now, knowing this exists.

    The temp probe definitely works better on the thicker cuts of meat. I always had problems with it shutting off too soon on any thin cut of meat. Go back to time cooking on the thin cuts.

If ever you tire of thinking what to do next, here is a thought, That knife went through that PRIME meat very easy. Sooo how about a knife sharpening tool you use?? and how you sharpen it. Bunch out there , but a lot of them are not well. thanks for listening and keep up the Gr8 invormation. IIII dent ta cal. OH btw, not too crazy about those grill marks.

I just use a knife sharpening steel... they work really well on most knives but it might have to do with the Shun knives I use... they are really nice... and I agree with the grill marks... they are a little strange...I even told someone they looked like a clock on the steak..lol.. but they are marks... thank you for watching!!!

    Thanks for this...we just did the same in ours last night, after watching your vid👍 We used our new meator probes which worked better than the smart probe that came with our grill...we noticed that the internal temp of the machine when set on HIGH/500 only reached a max of about 420 ish degrees same as yours...so I guess that’s normal...even when set to HIGH??? Wanting to buy my first Ninja Foodi, and wanted to know if it's worth the extra $100 to buy the pro vs the AG301 unit? If only difference is probe, can't I use my own probe to substitute for their probe? I don't want to spend $300. Especially since I don't know if I will use it as much as I anticipate.

    Question for you John. Reading my manual that came with the Grill and Im looking for a clarification on something. Manual states to insert probe into your steak/chicken, roast, etc while your unit is pre-heating stage. Can you also then plug the other end into the unit itself during the pre-heat stage too, or must you wait until the unit says “Add Food”, then plug the other end of the probe into main unit, then insert the food into the unit?
    A bit confusing the way it is worded in the manual. Just trying to clarify for my own knowledge.
    Thanks, in advance.

    I already have the ninja foodi pressure cooker and recently found out about the grill. I've been looking at the grill but all the stores demo units are locked down and can't open.
    I'd be interested in a comparison video between the grill and the pressure cooker. I'm not really sold on needing a grill when I already have the foodi pressure cooker

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  5 лет назад +1

      The main similarity would be the air fry function, the grill does have a higher temp setting and that seems to be a plus...I would say that it is a very useful device that I have used more than I expected, I grill inside now than I thought I would..I will try to come up with a recipe that would work welll in both and do those together sometime...thanks for watching!

    Just got the Foodi Grill and will do some marinated chicken breasts tonight. Went with the standard as I already have a digital wired thermometer and the extra $$$ for some pans, made no sense. Great vid by the way. Luckily, practice makes perfect and I can count minutes on a timer, so the probe is overkill for us. May get the roasting rack. Seems like all their accessories are $29.95, but I have a lot of other pans that fit.. Thanks for your input

    Okay, I have to ask this question. I bought my son the indoor ninja foodi grill. He lives in an apartment and can't have a regular grill. He loves using it to fry and to grill. He's brought it back home when he visits to show us and cook in it. Now, I don't think I need the foodi grill, but I am thinking of getting the foodi air fryer oven that you use too. I'm mainly getting this for the fryer aspect. Which of these two machines works better as an air fryer? I've watched many vids, but I've not seen one that compares these two machines.

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  4 года назад

      Hmmm... very good question...I would say the oven... only because of the amount and size of foods you can get in it... plus... you can use it for 12 inch frozen pizzas... mine gets used for that a bunch!! Hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!

    • @motexan129

      @@JohnSanders Thanks for the quick reply!! Maybe you need to do a side by side with some of that Louisiana fried chicken batter and then with some fries and see which machine you like the fried food out of better!! Staying tuned.

      @@motexan129 I had the oven, which I loved. But I sold it to buy the grill. I tended to not cook much in the oven because it was so hard to keep clean. When you air fry in that mesh tray, crumbs and sauce and whatever else is on your food, goes everywhere!
