Kosem, on the other hand, decided to stay back just to protect Ahmed from harem politics. By her time, the Empire was suffering hugely due to corruption fostered by Safiye. Kosem stayed on to clean the house.
Also, as per series, Safiye killed Kosem's father, making their rivalry permanent. Similarly, Ibrahim killed Hurrem's ex Leo, and earned her eternal ire.
Difference is, Safiye was already a villain (undermining and manipulating Sultans, and deciding the future candidates), while Hafsa and company were just bad in-laws in the beginning, but not against Suleiman.

Both kosem and hurrem were powerful sultanas that even today the world remembers. Instead of comparing them let’s enjoy both their journeys. Giving kosem the crown is simply symbolic of how she continues down a similar path that hurrem went, a path of power glory and danger and to be not like others who simply accepted their fate as sexual slaves.

Even historically safiye and many other sultanas were inspired by nurbanu the HONOURED MOTHER (valide-i atik) and the first official valide-i sultan not the Russian witch that the Ottoman people and army hated so much
@@grandetristesse3370 Hurrem was Ukrainian, not Russian. Nurbanu was Jewess from Venice, so all subsequent Sultans had both Ukrainian and Jewish blood. Hurrem was the first in history legal wife of any Sultan and first Haseki. The title Valide Sultan (Queen Mother) was in place long before Nurbanu. Hafsa (Suleiman's mother) had this title and many before her.

After watching 139 episodes in magnificent century with all the suspense and drama, now I'm up to episode 11 in Kosem, just as exciting, I wish Hurrem was in this series too.

Literally the other way around. Seuliman treated hurrem always as "women are not equal to men" whereas Ahmed (historically and in the show) treated kosem as his equal, stop it. This is about kosem not hurrem or seuliman ugh

Because the story of Kosem is not as trilling as Hurrem, and Ahmed is not as loyal to Kosem as Suleyman to Hurrem, the missing ingredient to spark the drama is that , after so many months or maybe a couple of years passed, and yet Kosem is not yet pregnant…. But what Kosem is showing is her courage to fight for her love to Sultan Ahmed, her patience and pain in dealing with the feeling of accepting that in the Harem, she has to share Sultan Ahmed with the other concubine and favorites….. it’s killing her softly…..😭😭😭

When they started relationship, Ahmed and Kosem were about 13. She gave birth in 1605 to Ayse Sultan (their 1st child) - 2 years after Ahmed was enthroned and they were both around 15 at the time. Mahfiruz who gave birth to Osman could be slightly older and may be her fertility was more advanced, but the difference when she gave birth and Kosem was about 1 year.

While we saw Hurrem sneaking around,hiding from Valide Hafsa,hiding from Hatice,Ibrahim,almost everyone. She only gained some power when Suleyman married her. And they portraied Kosem in the show like she is rulling the harem as sultan favorite. Thats all.
Didn't Kosem have 8 or 9 kids with ahmed? When is she going to start hatching? Historically, Ahmed dies at age 27. Hop to, little lady!
One difference between Ahmed and Suleiman, is that Ahmed spends too much time explaining his choices, while Suleiman would respond with a look “it’s not your place to ask” and everyone knew to shut up. Maybe it’s Ahmed’s age?
Yeah because historically here Ahmed should've been 14/15 (thats the difference between him and Osman). And took over the throne at 13 whereas Suleiman was 26 when he took throne. Plus clearly Suleiman was definitely better,stronger and firmer sultan than Ahmed
Suleiman's favourite line is literally "I deem it appropriate" , saying that to everyone whether it be Ibrahim,Mahidevran, Jannissary, Hürrem or even Valide Sultan !

Her son Osman became sultan from 1618-1620 when he was overthrown in the janissary rebellion in 1620. In the same year, Mahfiruze died at the age of 30. Osman was killed 2 years later at the age of 17. It is unclear why the screenwriters in the series stated that Mahfiruze is of Circassian origin.

The thing that makes this hardest to watch is the fact that these sultans claim to love certain women, but then sleep with whoever else takes their fancy, and expect the women they so-called "love" to he happy about it. Its ridiculous, and quite frankly, contrary to human nature. It's also disgusting. This isn't s love story any more that the Hurrem story was. Kosem should have escaped when she had the chance. Maybe then she could have had the undivided life of one good man who respected her enough to be faithful. Ahmed did not really love her.
